I was to owe $50 for my deductible and that was it. Now, well after the fact and with insurance involved, I am being told I owe more. In fact, I have received more than one letter outlining different amounts that might be due. One dated 1-12-26 says "Please pay $2,335.00 by 2-2-26". Another dated 1-20-26 claims I owe $625.00 due immediately. The fact of the matter is, I likely owe nothing, but I needed to get someone from their office to justify to the insurance company why the surgical codes billed were necessary. Such as simple ask, where the answer gets the office paid, and gets me out of the discussion. Win win. But no. It was already unpleasant to receive letters stating that I should provide "immediate attention" to the situation, but even more so when I had to leave a message twice (three days apart) to get someone in the office to respond. Definitely not "immediate". Don't expect me to act "immediately" if your team cannot act immediately. Prior to calling the office, I called my insurance to see what they would say is the issue. The issue is, the office billed for surgical codes and procedures, yet provided no notes to justify why the surgery was needed (as opposed to a simple extraction). When the office representative called me back, she was very short and unsympathetic to my situation. She basically told me it was my problem, and that all the paperwork I received prior said "estimate" so it is what it is. She said your office does not submit "notes" and only submits an x-ray. She told me the x-ray is enough to which I stated it obviously is not.....as here we are. I asked if there was any way to get the justification over to the insurance, and was told perhaps if they wanted to send something....but your rep was not willing to do anything to help facilitate the reconciliation or to make that happen. It is unfortunate, after having trusted your office to help me navigate this journey, that she could be so unwilling to assist or to help provide for some type of mutually agreeable solution. I shared my feelings also about being in the middle between their office and the insurance company trying to mediate but that was of little concern as well. I contacted my insurance again, and ultimately was told that they would pay the claim out, but they do need some type of surgical notes or explanation as to why my teeth had to be surgically removed as opposed to a standard extraction. They provided the attached EOB, and said I could write back with my own narrative as to why the teeth needed to be surgically removed......but I am not sure I am qualified or would provide what they need to justify the charge/procedure. I tried to call the office back, and to speak with someone else to simply see if anyone could help in providing a simple justification statement outlining why surgical removal was necessary. I think this is a simple request to a simple issue, and again hate that a staff member with less than stellar customer service skills felt it appropriate to dump a $625 bill in my lap, instead of working with me to resolve the matter (for all involved). At the time of this review, the issue remains unresolved, and I await a response from the office to see if they will provide me with the justification my insurance seeks in order to pay the claim.

This appointment had been scheduled approximately six months in advance. Historically, this office,…read morelike nearly every medical and dental practice I have encountered, sends appointment reminders several days before an appointment and often additional reminders closer to the date. Instead, I received a text message reminder at 8:01 a.m. for an 8:00 a.m. appointment. Having not yet checked my phone that morning, I was completely unaware of the appointment. At 8:11 a.m., I received a phone call asking where I was. The tone of that call was far from pleasant. When I questioned why I had not received the usual advance reminder, I was told that I had been reminded that morning by text message. Regardless of my frustration, I immediately stopped what I was doing and rushed to the office in an effort to keep the appointment. Upon arrival, I showed the staff that the reminder had been delivered after the appointment was already supposed to have begun. Rather than acknowledging the issue, I was told that I was "an adult" and should not need a reminder. I found this response unnecessarily rude and dismissive. Whether a patient needs a reminder is irrelevant; the fact remains that the office's normal reminder process was not followed. I also inquired about the length of my appointment because I had previously contacted the office on September 2, 2026, after my new insurance became active. During that call, I requested an appointment with the dentist, specifically asking whether Friday appointments were available. I was told that the dentist did not work on Fridays and that someone would call me back. I did receive a return call, but no voicemail was left, and I had not yet had an opportunity to follow up. When I relayed this conversation to the receptionist, I was told that it did not "sound like a conversation they would have had." Rather than attempting to understand the situation, my account was essentially dismissed. At that point, Dr. Washburn was called to the front. He approached me and asked, "You wanted to see me?" My response was that I simply wanted to keep the appointment I had scheduled six months earlier. However, I also felt he should be aware that sending a reminder after an appointment is scheduled to begin is ineffective, and that the attitude I encountered from staff was inappropriate. Patients should be allowed to express dissatisfaction when standard office procedures are not followed without being treated as though they are the problem. To my surprise, instead of addressing my concerns, I was immediately dismissed from the practice and denied the appointment that I had rushed to attend. As someone who has worked in medical administration and medical billing for more than 20 years, I have interacted with countless healthcare practices. I can honestly say that this was one of the most unprofessional patient interactions I have ever experienced. What makes this situation even more frustrating is that I remained loyal to this practice during a lengthy staffing shortage. When the office was unable to retain a dental hygienist and my cleaning was delayed by approximately six months, I chose to be patient and understanding. I accepted the inconvenience and continued to support the practice. Now, after waiting again for a long-overdue cleaning, I have been dismissed as a patient simply for expressing concerns about a missed reminder and the manner in which I was treated. I believe patients deserve to be treated with respect, particularly when they are making a sincere effort to keep appointments and communicate concerns in good faith. Unfortunately, that was not my experience.
