I had been having progressively worst knee pains on both knees for the past 6 years, having been a skier, love skiing bumps and also jumps in the park, was on skis almost every month of the year either skiing or training on bumps or jumps for 10+ years while in my 40s, in addition to racquetball, basketball, spin, cycling & weights. Hi there. I have had pain in my shoulders for the past 20 years. Competitive swimming, surfing, repetitive arm and shoulder motion at work .......who knows the reason ! As I got older the pain started becoming unbearable. In fact life becomes a chore and not even enjoyable because continual pain wears one out and makes nothing worth it. I started becoming miserable and not great to be around. Anyway, I went to see three traditional, Westernised doctors. I'm very happy and encouraged -- just played my first pain free round of golf in almost a year! This is the game I enjoy most and it's my primary exercise vehicle. I've been an athlete all of my life and couldn't fathom not being active. Wow. At 60, I use my golf game in business development and play competitively too. Tendinitis and osteoarthritis were causing pain in my left shoulder. I really wanted to stay away from surgery. It's a sure way to lose range of motion, add scar tissue, etc. And the shoulder is a very difficult area of the body to "fix". Most of the guys I know who have had surgery in the shoulder complex were never the same. Plus, it's a long and difficult rehab process. I didn't want to lose that much time, especially with such low odds of success. PRP and Stem Cell therapy have always made a lot of sense to me. I went to see Dr. Darrow for my shoulders. My right shoulder had 3 rotator cuff tears and severe ligament laxity. In fact I had to use KT tape to tape the shoulder in the joint every single day. I was in constant pain and often could not sleep because the shoulder pain would keep me awake. Worst of all I eventually had to stop working out and playing sports. Without the KT tape my arm would essentially just dangle there. Surgery for this is a horrible option requiring at least a month off work (not an option for me). Dr. Darrow also treated my unstable ribs (from and old hockey injury) which were so loose they would just pop out of place all the time. I have had 8 PRP sessions on my shoulders and ribs. Back in the summer of 2011 while exercising I twisted and injured my right knee. It quickly became extremely painful with major swelling and complete immobility. After several weeks of no improvement I consulted with several well known specialists and after several tests each concluded a knee replacement was the solution. No offense meant against these doctors but It became clear if a second or third opinion is wanted going to yet another specialist will likely result in a similar conclusion. I just emailed Dr. Darrow to ask him if it was okay to call my hip replacement surgeon and apologize for not letting him cut on me. I've listened to Dr. Darrow for a couple years now on his Sunday radio program. And, I had one hip replacement about 8-years ago. My story starts years ago with right knee pain. I tried EVERYTHING, including surgery 10 years ago. The surgery was unsuccessful and I started an Advil program any time my level of activity increased. 100% worth it! I am on day two of my second round of PRP injections in two areas! It just keeps getting better. I was scared, frustrated and overwhelmed walking in to his office. I either aggravated or caused a disk bugles in my cervical and lumbar spine. I am on track to get a cortisone short in three weeks, epidural in the neck. But this process takes so long I was desperately looking for relief. The first thing I noticed after the first round was more mobility. I can not say enough good things about Dr. Darrow and everyone at the Stem Cell Institute. Dr. Darrow is very charming and he puts you at ease when you meet with him. I was doubtful that the stem cell treatment would work for me as I am 85 years old and I thought it might work better on younger people but rather than face knee replacement surgery I thought I would give the stem cells a shot. I had been in pain on my knee for 2 years and found that I was limping badly. I was scared waiting for the treatment as I didn't know what to expect or how painful it would be. I made an appointment and went to go check them out, when I got there I got to talk to Dr.Thomas Grove. Dr. Thomas Grove is a great person he was able to check my elbow and wrist at the appointment, Dr. Thomas Grove went over where all the pain was coming from my arm, good thing I want to go get checked out because Dr. Thomas Grove checked that my wrist muscle was already torn. Dr. Thomas Grove told me that I was able to get my arm cured and surgery wasn't needed. That same day I was able to get the Stem Cell Therapy for both my elbow and wrist, the therapy went on to be great that day! No pain no nothing after the therapy! 2 weeks went by and now my wrist pain and elbow pain has gone completely away, it feels like a brand new arm! I tore a ligament in my right wrist over six months ago. I did the recommended course of ice, immobilization, and rest. This did not provide relief and the injury was affecting my work life, home life, and my happiness. A month ago, I did the bone marrow treatment on the wrist with Dr. Darrow and I am happy to report that the injury healed within a week of the treatment. I had a surgery on both knees to repair torn cartilage. One surgery was over 30 years ago and the other was about 13 years ago. My knees got to the point where it felt like I had gravel in the joint and it was getting painful just to walk. Can I just say WOW! My son is a freshman in college and plays baseball. He injured his knee several years ago at one of his games and has done tons of alternative treatments to get better. After having chronic tendinitis problems in my left hand, forearm and elbow as a result of bad guitar technique and stress for well over a year, I can say that I've tried almost everything to remedy the situation.
