Update: after experiencing ZERO symptoms after having my right hand done in Sept 2024, I got the…read moreleft hand done in September 2025. I think this one healed even better. I had way less itching overall and significantly less pain immediately following surgery - likely because my left is not my dominant hand. However, I did have more sensitivity in the area (it basically feels like a sore ball on the bottom of your palm). It's been about 10.5 months post surgery and scar fade is excellent. I feel pretty confident putting my weight on my hands - I took a couple of falls during winter hiking season and was able to use my palms to help myself back up and everything was ok. My wrist flex is great - I reached out to my former weightlifting coach a few weeks ago because I feel ready to pick up a bar and get back to Oly. If you are on the fence about this surgery please just get it. I shake my head at how much my quality of life deteriorated over the last 4 years (legit having to wear pull on pants because I couldn't finagle a button closure) for a surgery that was so straightforward in the grand scheme of things. Also if you are brown skinned or otherwise prone to keloid scarring, the incision is flat and significantly faded. I predict within 5 years it will be invisible. I'm adding pics of the left hand. Dr. Aida is the man!

I have an appointment end of September 2018 for 2 disc replacements. I have been in need of this…read moresurgery for about 10 years, putting it off, no money and can't find a doctor anywhere that I would trust, ofc, I am in , Vero Beach FL. I Googled for weeks on spine doctors all over. I came across an ad for Spine & Orthopedic 1-855-586-2615. I saw so many awesome reviews about this Dr. Katzman,Ortho Surgeon at Spine & Orthopedics Center. Thought I would give them a call ask questions and advised to send my MRI and Disc, notes so I did. To sum it all up, I got a call from Dr. Katzman, talked to me about my problem, and offered to see me, and consult me over the phone. Really, what Dr. would do that? With Dr. Katzman's phone call and his knowledge of my problem, I felt comfortable, and was ready to have this procedure done. Next phone call came from, NJ Spine and Orthopedics, Dr. Katzman's team of employees. They called to set up my appointment, got me scheduled and on the right track, which I could not afford this surgery even with my so called insurance. Few days later, another phone call from NJ Spine & Ortho Center, this time from (Ethan P) Senior Patient Advocate 973-788-5028 He works for Dr. Katzman's team. Ethan made it all possible, and easy to talk to. He helped with my financial part, as in the amount I would owe out of pocket, even as far as setting up payment arrangements, and to the surgery date. Ethan, was awesome, don't think I could have managed this without Ethan's and Admins help. My so far experience. I will do a follow up to this review after my surgery, stay tuned. I will then leave my phone # incase anyone would like to reach out to me for advice, on my experience. I have never heard of a Doctor calling their patients to talk about their concerns, without asking them come into the office for consultation, which then you have your office fee.

It seemed like something else was going on - if not, he was assuming things about me and my appointment that I was not privy to. He rushed me at every turn as I tried to explain my symptoms. He kept interrupting me, scoffing and rolling his eyes - to the extent that I at one point stopped talking and pointed out the eye-rolling. It clearly did not land for him that I was pointing out his expressions of literal contempt. As I said, it was all bizarre; I wish I had just walked out - but the visit was so short, he probably wouldn't have noticed that, either. When I described my symptoms and used terms a previous doctor had used, he again started the scoffing and eye rolling and mumbled that I was "self diagnosing again." I was literally describing symptoms, not saying "I clearly have _____" -- because I DON'T KNOW WHAT IS WRONG. I understand that he did not agree with my previous MDs and that's all well and good, but you don't belittle a patient for reporting. That's the most basic principle of patient care. He said something along the lines of "Well we are not going to figure this out today," again sounding annoyed - I was not expecting anything definitive and was literally there to get an informed opinion about ongoing symptoms. He kept assuming things about me that I was neither asking nor assuming. He expressed overt contempt via his tone and body language throughout this very brief visit and made it clear he was in a hurry to be somewhere else. I literally glanced at my phone before and after the visit, and I was in and out within 10 minutes: in my field, that would not count as the "long discussion" he of course put in my visit note (I presume so he could up-charge the visit, which was almost $800). Maybe he's good with a scalpel and hammer - bedside manner and basic communication skills, he is not. I would question his diagnostic skills, given how he handled our discussion.

I have never felt so comfortable with a Dr. He got me scheduled with in 2.5 weeks to fix me. I have read reviews that he has no bed side manner well I did not see that at all. His staff is very accommodating and polite. All I have to say is opinions are like --- ----- everyone has one. He is so nice and knowledgeable and although I'm nervous about the surgery he assures me I will be fine. Update to follow
