I have long, layered hair, and from the moment I arrived, Caroline was so engaging and attentive. She really listened to what I wanted and was patient throughout the entire process. My schedule is usually pretty hectic but it was no problem scheduling an appointment with Lorraine. The last appointment for my micro braids was set for 9pm. She worked quickly and diligently to braid my hair and finished before 3am. The time went by so fast (because I was able to watch and enjoy some really good movies)! So when she says that she offers a 24 hour service... she truly means it!! This was a blessing to me. I also LOVE that Lorraine is fast! Before going to Lorraine for my micro braids, I used to get micro braids at a shop where three or four people would braid my hair all at once. I really didn't enjoy those experiences at all but thought that with this many people braiding my hair... I'd be done quicker. Well, when Lorraine initially told me how long it would take for her to do my micros I was shocked. Not only did she work alone but she finished my hair quicker than when it was three or four people working on my head all at once. Needless to say, it was also for a more affordable price!!! Lorraine always goes straight through when braiding. The last time she braided my hair, she only stopped once to use the restroom and then she was back at it and I was done in no time! I decided to write this review because before getting micro braids this last time, I decided to go elsewhere to get a Keratin hair treatment. After that process, I experienced major breakage and hair loss. I told Lorraine about the damage and she told me not to worry about it. I was very happy that she offered to cut/trim my hair before braiding. Honestly, I was more amazed that she was able to grip and braid the damaged/shorter hair with ease. I was so impressed with Lorraine's work, especially this time around because (even with ALL of the damage) not one braid came out!! These braids lasted for more than three months. Furthermore, these micro braids were so small, I was able to take GREAT care of my scalp by washing and moisturizing it properly. I washed and conditioned my hair multiple times and (I REPEAT) didn't lose a single braid! She so dependable! The same weekend she braided my hair, she also braided my mom and daughter's hair. I like how she effectively communicated with me throughout the entire process. She always followed up with a receipt, text message and/or a call and there was never any mix ups about the deposits, pricing, hair, appointment times, and etc. So many people stop and ask me all the time who did my hair. I was confident that it was quality work and others could see it too. Lorraine started braiding my moms hair almost two decades ago and started braiding my hair shortly after. I love that she's so consistent and that her business continues to grow. The environment is so welcoming and inviting. It's a really nice, neat, and clean atmosphere! I love how when getting my hair done it's just me. I also like that there are always great movies to watch. It makes the time FLY by! In addition, she always offer drinks and AMAZING snacks if your tummy begins to grumble a little. So, if you're tired of paying so much but getting so little... schedule an appointment with Lorraine! I had long curly, frizzy hair so we did a Bob-style cut and off with a few inches. My hair was soft and straight for a change. My hair looked great once Steph was done with me. It was an hour appt I believe which is good with all that she did. So from walking in the door til leaving it was just a great atmosphere and everyone was so nice. When I arrived, I had my two-year-old with me in a stroller. She was calm, quiet, and watching a movie completely unbothering anyone. The salon itself was nearly empty, with only one other client present. Instead of being welcomed, I was immediately met with a very cold and judgmental attitude from the front desk. I was looked up and down, along with my stroller, and told in a very rude and inflexible manner that children were not allowed and that I would either need to leave or reschedule. As a mother, it is not always easy to find time for self-care, and I made the effort to come in for this appointment. The lack of empathy or basic courtesy was honestly shocking. There was zero attempt to accommodate, problem-solve, or even speak kindly. To make matters worse, I was charged $75 (50% of the service) simply for having to leave despite the fact that the situation could have been handled with basic human decency and flexibility. I do want to note that Desi, the hairstylist, did try to be kind while witnessing the way I was being treated, and I appreciate that. I understand this situation was not her fault. However, the overall customer service and experience are a direct reflection of the business she represents. This was the first time I've ever experienced something like this at a salon. I left feeling embarrassed, dismissed, and frankly, discriminated against for being a mother. I will not be returning, and I would not recommend this salon especially to other moms. There are plenty of places that treat clients with respect, kindness, and understanding. This was not one of them.
