Was looking for a steakhouse and made a last minute reservation for a 9pm diner. The food was delicious but service was quite slow, the table next to me was seated after me and had their drinks before the server came to greet and take my drink order, the meal didn't come out until about an hour later. With that being said, I'd still return just don't be on a tight schedule.

    Lamb a La Dijonnaise

Walked in around 5:30 on a Saturday night. We did not have a reservation; however, the maître d' was kind enough to find a table to seat 4. He advised we could only have the table for an hour and 40 minutes, which was perfect for us. The server came to take our food and drink orders. I opted for the Lamb a La Dijonnaise. My fiancé ordered the Ribeye and our two friends ordered the 10 oz Sirloins. Everything was delicious. The lamb and steaks were cooked a nice medium rare. The mashed potatoes were creamy and seasoned nicely. The service was good and the place got busier as the night went on. I recommend making a reservation if you can. Relaxing atmosphere and good music playing.

We found Marco Pierre White on Yelp. Reset were recommended so we reserved a table for two at 6 PM. We were fortunate to be seated in their covered patio looking out at the street. This is in an affluent area around the corner from Trinity College so people watching was fun. Service was outstanding, as was the food. Their menu, like many in Dublin, offers a la carte options and prix fixe choices. We both chose the two course dinner (there is a three course option). We both had steak frites, I had the shrimp cocktail and Kerrie had the barley soup. At the end of the meal we lost track of our waiter. We were in no hurry so enjoyed our drinks as we watched people walk by. When the waiter returned he apologized and let us know he was working with a VIP group. He said Jessica Lang and Ed Harris (American actors) were at the VIP table. We did walk by them and stole a glance. In deference to them, we didn't bother them. It was very cool to see them both.

    Butternut squash soup

Pleasantly surprised as often disappointed in restaurants behind a big name chef who rarely appears. This was actually an excellent experience. Service was perfect, attentive but not annoying, friendly but not fake. Started with butternut squash soup, it was excellent. Multiple levels of flavor ant texture, more than I hoped for. The Delmonico was cooked perfectly, which I would expect at a high end steakhouse. What made the mean excellent were the side. Pickled onion rings, which initially seemed a little bland grew on me to the point they are my salient memory from the meal. The horseradish in the creamed spinach was an ideal combination, made it a great compliment. Definitely recommended.

Mushrooms on sourdough with poached egg and hollandaise. Fabulous vegetarian meal.

We dined here for a work dinner, and it was a great meal. This is a steakhouse, so the menu is very meat-forward, but there was also seafood, chicken, and lamb dishes available. I had the one vegetarian meal on the menu, which was mushrooms on sourdough, topped with a poached egg and truffled hollandaise. It was absolutely delightful, and the chef catered to my somewhat unusual request of a slightly overdone poach on my egg. My starter was a chicken liver "parfait" with madeira jelly on top. This was also delicious, and a rather large portion for a starter. They offer an a la carte menu as well as a daily menu where you can choose two or three courses for a prix fixe meal. The service was *impeccable* and the interior was elegant. Even their bathrooms were lovely! I do recommend this place if you are looking to have a steak dinner or a nicer-than-average meal. Their prices do reflect the level of service and decor, so this isn't the place for those looking for a bargain.

    Center fillet steak

Love love love their 8oz center fillet steak with the creamy buttery sauce!! one of the best steaks I had in a while and every bit was so delicious and pleasurable! Great service which made my dining experience a lot better. I originally ordered the 10oz ribeye but turned out to be not quite nice, so I switched to the center fillet steak my coworkers ordered. Very happy with the service and the foods. They even gave us extra creamy spinach and frites as a way to make up for the poor ribeye which was not expected. Highly recommended if you want a delicious steak and great service. Everything is great!!

Oh my dear God this meal was perfection. I had been to the Marco Pierre White restaurant before for lunch but on this occasion we decided to go all out and get the a la carte. As you might be able to guess from the first sentence of this review it was a good decision! I began with the exquisite crab with herbs that melted in the mouth and left me dying for more. This was followed by a Beurre a la bordelaise, red wine and shallots rib eye steak. So tender and succulent and incredibly filling. We got a side of mushrooms and onion rings for the table and I could barely start eating my triple cooked chips as I was already stuffed senseless! Everyone in my party agreed this was probably the best steak we've ever had. The atmosphere and service was nothing short of fantastic. You feel like royalty entering the place and the bathroom with the little towels instead of a dryer is a great touch. Along with a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc between 2 it only cost a mere 65 euro each for the two courses, sides and wine! I would have tried the dessert had I been able but sadly couldn't bring myself to eat another bite! Easily one of the most amazing meals of my life.

    Ribeye steak. Salad and fries.
    Sylvester C.

I've visited several steakhouses since being in Dublin and this one was not enjoyable. The location and atmosphere are great, but the ribeye steak was not good at all. Lack of flavor entirely. It was just slimes meat. The sides were good though, which is the reason my first visit earned a three star.

Atmosphere is awesome. Even though we didn't have reservation. They got us in. Food was amazing. We had ribeye perfect. Everyone was great

WOWWWWZZZZERS great place to have steak or even fish (yellow fin tuna and monk fish) Great service, really attentive. Menu is big enough to not get confused. Wine menu has some great choices too, even around the 35€ mark. Food is amazing, I tried 2 different starters and two different mains, there is absolutely nothing I would have changed with these dishes. There were tasty and looked soooooo pretty :) The sides are all more focused on steak, not too many vegetable choices, more of the typical old style potato...but hey it works with the theme. Portions are massive, so really if you are going for starter and main, don't plan with desert or make sure you haven't eaten all day Summary: if you love meat you'll love that place!!!

It's a special treat so we went to Marco's; I've been looking forward to going for ages. The restaurant itself is lovely and was electric when we walked in. When there's a celebrity name attached to a restaurant I think diners are right to expect great things. Unfortunately, this meant that I was disappointed. The menu is small but I was expecting that. I wasn't expecting the heavy price tag to accompany most dishes which turned out to be pretty average. I had a very nice plate of smoked salmon to start (€11.95). It was lovely. A friend recommended the spatchcock chicken (€18.95) with chipolatas which I thought was really disappointing. It was sticky and bland. Although this could have been my own fault for not ordering a steak in a steakhouse. My dad had the steak and ate every pick of it along with the huge chunky chips. The service wasn't great and they forgot about our sides (€3.95 each and an extra on top of your main) which came about 15 minutes later. So, I gave them another chance and ordered the Eton Mess (€8.95) which was very nice, but then it's an easy dessert to do. All around, it was a nice meal. Just nice. If I go again, think I'll stick to steak.

This is their second location after the original FX Buckley on Pembroke Street opened in the 1980s; but the Buckley family has been serving premium cuts of Irish beef since the 1600s! The restaurant's interior leans into rich, warm tones with dark woods, leather seating, an open kitchen, and an atmosphere that feels both refined and approachable. Make sure to check out the massive dry-aging fridge in the front of the space, where scarlet-hued meats are displayed through transparent glass panes. We made a reservation for 4 at 6:30pm on a Sunday night through OpenTable, and the restaurant was about half-full when we arrived, but filled up throughout the course of our meal. Our server immediately brought over a tray of their six cuts of meat (all 100% Irish and dry-aged for 28 days), including ribeye, striploin, filet, and variations on the bone. Additionally, there's chalkboard graphics on the wall with detailed descriptions of each cut, which was very helpful in our selection. All steaks are cooked in their signature Josper charcoal ovens, lending a lovely touch of smoky flavor. The menu reads "classic steakhouse", with plenty of different cuts and weights of steak, refined starters, plenty of sides, and a variety of options for non-beef-eaters. We also appreciated the fact that each steak comes with your choice of one of three sides (chips, mashed potatoes, or salad), as well as your choice of sauce (bernaise, bone marrow jus, garlic butter, or pepper sauce). Additionally, all steaks on the bone are served with crispy fried onions. Their wine list is highly lauded, with bottles from all around the world, and a master in-house sommelier. As two members of our party weren't too hungry, they split a Caesar Salad (€13) and the Free Range Chicken (€29) between them. The Caesar Salad was a fresh salad of lightly-dressed, crunchy romaine lettuce, topped with an almost snow-like shaved Parmesan, and Crowe's smoked bacon. The variety of textures and flavors made this a surprising hit. The chicken was tender and juicy, served with a rich truffle cream sauce and salted kohlrabi, as well as your choice of side (she chose the Sauteed Chestnut Mushrooms with Watercress, which were so tender that they cut like butter). While we found the portion of chicken to be a bit small, the ability to choose your own side (which are normally €7-8 on their own) was much appreciated. My brother opted for the 22oz Ribeye on the Bone (€90), which was a hefty portion of well-marbled ribeye on a dramatic tomahawk bone. It was cooked to a perfect medium-rare, with a signature reddish-pink center, and paired nicely with their sharp Pepper Sauce. His Beef Dripping Chips were thick-cut steak fries, with a delightfully crispy exterior, and a pillowy soft interior. Lastly, the fried onions tasted like an elevated version of French's Fried Onions (bringing back memories of Thanksgiving green bean casserole). I chose the 16oz Striploin on the Bone (€49.50) - one generally wouldn't associate the word "value" with a top-line steakhouse, yet this was truly a steal of a dish. Cooked to a perfect rare (cool red center) with a decent amount of marbling, yet still incredibly tender, this was one of the best steaks I've ever had. The bone marrow jus tasted like a rich gravy, yet not too decadent for the sumptuous steak. I chose the Organic Leaf Salad as a side, which was an assortment of mixed leaves, thin-shaved carrots and onions, and a tangy vinaigrette; I appreciated the lightness of the dressing when paired with the meat. We were so full from our generously-portioned entrees that we couldn't fathom ordering dessert, though some of their options were quite tempting (particularly their Bailey's Espresso Cheesecake). Additionally, their Sunday Roast (€29.50) is a much more affordable way to sample some of their Irish meat, though note that it's only served between 1-4pm on Sundays. If you're in the market for a proper steakhouse experience in Dublin with quality ingredients and thoughtful execution, looking no further than FX Buckley!

As l've done with other cities around Scotland and Ireland, I walked in, asked Camila if there were any seats available for four, she said we have one available right now. I scurried back and got the rest of the crew, and we were provided with a wonderful meal. We all chose the daily special, which was a 12 ounce ribeye, which we shared between each couple. They were ok, two different old fashioned drinks. We tried to order bone marrow, scallops, tuna tataki and a Caesar salad as starters. They were already out of the bone marrow and scallops. It's a holiday, you know there are reservations... what?! Poor management and planning!! They recommended the lamb kidneys... never had them before, super gross. I'll never do that again. It smelled like urine! We ordered the burger and 14 oz sirloin to share, medium rare on the steak. Polenta fries, and mashed potatoes. The polenta fries were outstanding! The burger was delicious! Smokey flavor, it was great. It came with huge steak fries, I prefer shoestring. The steak was not tender. Had a better steak sandwich at the Morrison for lunch. All in all, I will not be going back nor recommending this place. The wine I ordered never arrived, our water was never refilled. In fact, after the food arrived, we never saw anyone again!! When the check came with an obligatory 12.5% tip I missed it and paid. Once I noticed, I flipped out!! This was the worst service ever!! I double check tipping culture in Ireland before I complain. 10% is good for good service and bad service is ok to leave zero tip. So I asked for it back. They gave me credit for the tip but not the tax on tip. Unimpressed. Won't go again.

We were referred to Shanahan's by American friends. This is a classic American steakhouse, and had I realized that, I would have chosen a more authentically Irish restaurant. The meal and service were fantastic, but I'm not sure this would rank in my top steakhouse experiences. Our steak was not cooked medium rare - it was almost medium well. While everything was delicious, nothing stood out as unique other than the bread. That being said, a similar experience in the states would cost two times as much (think Morton's or Jeff Ruby's). The bread was fantastic, as were the scallops. As a southern American, the creamed corn was fantastic and as authentic as I've had anywhere (including the south). Our servers were incredibly attentive and the venue was beautiful. If you're from the USA... I'd pass and leave the experience to European tourists who want the American steakhouse experience.
