Truly one of my very favorite stores to shop at for closeouts and their $1 produce bags. I find a lot of value in the closeouts when shopping for gifts especially for children. New deli employee at the Cleveland Avenue store at 30th Street made an honest mistake on Thursday and gave me the incorrect chicken salad product; they put a label for Gourmet Chicken Salad with Grapes over the 2 lb. package label that said Rotisserie Chicken Salad. We didn't notice until we opened it today. Rotisserie Chicken Salad has ingredients my wife can't have due to food allergies. I took it back to the "Customer Service" counter and the lady there was absolutely unprofessional and nasty. I didn't get her name, unfortunately. She was very rude and even told me there is no such thing as Gourmet Chicken Salad with Grapes (we've been buying it there for three years). She then went back to the deli while I waited at the front and came back with a container of Rotisserie Chicken Salad with a new label and practically threw it at me. When I explained, again, that I was supposed to get Gourmet Chicken Salad she really got an attitude. I went back with her to the deli counter the second time and the folks back there were very professional and helpful. The so-called customer service person then said, in a nasty tone, that I could have it for free, and got pissed when I told her it wasn't free, I'd already paid for the wrong item. Never had a bad experience, it's definitely cheap but that's what a lot of people need nowadays.

I purchased a Minnie Mouse kitchen set for my daughter as a birthday gift. When we went to put it together it was off. I called the manufacturer and was told that Marc's was not an authorized seller for the product. I called Marc's and was told that I could not return it due to the damage of the box it came in. Overall waste of a purchase. And poor baby doesn't get her kitchen for her birthday. Never again! read more

Marc's sucks!!! Incompetent managers who are 19 or 20 years old!!! I will never set foot in that disgusting place again! They are rude beyond rude. Why are the employees and managers so nasty? I'm trying to pay your salary and I end up walking out because you can't say hello, thank you or even smile. The manager was so weird, after I gave her my cart of groceries and I was exiting, then she says, try to have a nice day. Ok. Then she says Merry Christmas. What a nasty person. Hey management, try saying Hello, or Merry Christmas first. I can't believe you get a paycheck to have customers go to your competition. Just to give an accurate comparison to other groceries in the area I would like to be more specific and give a 3.5 star review for Marc's. Bottom line: Marc's is cheap. Sometimes so cheap you are shocked to see some of the price tags. Generally this is a grocery store, but they have a pharmacy and sell other random furniture items, clothes, etc. They actually get stuff from major retailers in the area that are no longer in style or no longer can be sold for whatever reason. Some of these items can be ridiculously cheap. The selection for non-perishable items is pretty solid, but the meat and produce section is lacking big time. Again they have great prices for what they have, but it takes up like 10% of the store at most. I won't beat a dead horse here, but the credit card situation can be frustrating (they only take discover), but again that is a tool to keep prices lower which they succeed big time on. This is a place for me that I like to go to once every two weeks or so and spend $30-$40 (remember, bring cash!) on some great sale items and products i know I will get for considerably cheaper. With a better meat and produce selection I could make this a more regular place to shop for me. read more

Marc's doesn't take any cards so that they can keep their prices down. Banks charge merchants for all electronic transactions and Marc's doesn't take any plastic so they can pass the savings on to us. Wish more places would do the same read more
