I grew up going to this neighborhood theater as a kid/young adult, but I have not set foot inside in over 15 years. I was in town and decided to got to the movies on a slow Wednesday night. It was nice to see all the changes in this place, the games in the front lobby, the large concession stand with a menu of snacks and a few hot items. I ordered the fried pickles (medallions, not spears) which were great. The seats were comfortable, and had a nice amount of recline to them. Overall, outside of having to leave the theater to get my food (spoiled by the Texas theaters I frequent who serve you at the seat), I had a great time and I'll be sure to check out this theater again when I'm back in town. read more

The "cook" showed up after being away for his work area without a backup. Wasn't even aware there were orders pending. Didn't answer the call through the walkie. Looked at me like I was bothering him to do the job he applied for. No apologies just gave me my money back. Requested to speaker to the manager on site - Ashley who never came. Prior to me writing this review, I asked a gentleman working the ticket booth at 11:55am why the movie isn't playing, the screen is just turned off. He asked which screen, I stated it's #5 and he knocked and went behind a door near the drink machine and I went back to my seat with hopes that it will be playing. Nope, it's still not. I like Marcus theaters. My cousin told me about the rewards program that they had. Unlike AMC THEATERS the program is free. Free is always great. They have student Thursday for 6 dollars and Tuesday's are 5.15 dollars both rates include popcorn. This location is cool. Most people don't like coming here because of the area. Chicago Heights is not the best area. I'm from Lansing IL so it's closer than Orland or Country Club Hills. I never have any issues here and they have visible security. We were at the Purple carpet for "The Color Purple", the grill took forever to make you a burger and fries! We missed 15 minutes of the movie premiere! The grill makes great burgers, but they took too long to make them.The Manager gave us a pass because we didn't see the beginning of the movie. He was a nice guy! The staff wasn't use to a large crowd. They were training new people! If you hold an event tell everyone to order early, discuss them not training people on the day of the event, and tell them you need the seasoned staff on deck! read more

This theater under performs from a service perspective. I purchased my ticket in advance, the kiosks do not work, forcing me to stand in an incredibly long line with only one teenage associate working abs teen patrons clustered around her register seemingly trying to bum rush her for a free entrance. No manager available, while the guy waiting at the entrance (waiting is just standing there as if he is confused as I ask for help with moving the lines). ‍‍‍‍ On another note, I increased my rating from * to *** after my concession experience, thanks to the sweet petite thirty/forty something African American woman. read more

Last Saturday was the absolute worst movie experience I have ever had. I wasted $36 trying to watch creed three. I have complained to Marcus theater before about its poor accommodations in their dishonesty about movie ticket sales, and have yet to have gotten another response from them since I wrote a complaint about them. My first complaint was when woman King was first in theaters and they told us a theater tickets were sold out however when we got to the theater in Orland Park, it wasn't true. So last Saturday went to see Creed three in Chicago Heights. However, we could not enjoy the movie because there were a bunch of kids running around laughing and giggling, flashing their lights from their cell phone, making noises and just being totally obnoxious at the front of the theater. I was finally able to locate someone from the management team to come to the theater to remove the kids. However, they kept coming back in the theater. This is beyond unacceptable and a waste of time. I will never waste another dime of my money at Marcus theaters because of their lack of response to customer complaints and the unwillingness to respond. I attempted to go directly to the website to file a complaint however, I wasn't able to because I didn't pay for my ticket at the theater. I paid for my ticket online so therefore I don't have a survey response number. Marcus theater is horrible. Giving them a reading of one star is giving him too much. read more

DreamLounger makes a difference!! The super comfortable chairs are fabulous and Marcus did a nice job with the extensive remodel. They have limited (assigned) seating so, you do have to get tickets in advance but it is worth it!! Also, they serve food and alcohol which makes any date night fun! read more

I saw a matinee showing of "West Side Story" on New Year's Eve 2021 at Marcus Chicago Heights Cinema. I had not been there since Thanksgiving 2019. Since then I had not visited the theatre since the COVID shutdown in 2020, but was aware of Marcus' policies on keeping the theatre cleaned, asking patrons to wear masks and having hand sanitizer available for all from their webpage. This all checked out. There was evidence that the interior of the theatre had been cleaned and painted which was good to see. The projection and sound in theatre #12 was perfect. It was a bit dark, so I was glad I had a keychain light in order to find my seat. It was comfortably warm. A Marcus staffperson reported to theatre #12 while the credits were running, ready to clean up the place. The hiring policy of the theatre appears to be to be willing to hire teens for the day shift; there are adults present. They seem to be in compliance with hiring rules and regs including ADA questions. If you would like to order something from concessions I would recommend ordering them ahead of time. (I would also order tickets online while ordering from concessions as it can speed up things as there was only one person doing the ticketing.) I tend to order coffee which is not a big seller; they did not have creamer, just sugar, so bring your own. Nice visit; excellent movie. read more

Ever since they went through that remodel, I've enjoyed each visit here more and more. Everything has been upgraded and for the better! They've got huge touch screens for you to order you tickets on but you can still go stand in line and have human interaction if you choose. The concession stand has grown with even more options and there's a grill for burgers and pizza. Just wish they could get the line to move faster, they still need to work on that. For some reason, this place feels bigger just because there's more to enjoy. And ohhh the seats! Comfy, huge, and recline back far enough that you can put your feet up. This was probably the best investment they made when revamping this theater. You'll feel comfortable whether you're all the way in the back or seated right in the front row. I also like the cute little commercial with a message from the owner that airs right before the show. It's a great personal touch that's just corny enough to make you smile. I've got to hand it to them, it seems like every feature of this upgrade was well thought out and has changed this theater to a great go-to for entertainment. read more

If i could give it 0 stars i would This place is atrocious. From the moment you walk in to see the trash to the left of you, to the dim lights, to the overpriced popcorn. I paid 15 dollars for 2 slushies and the slushies were extremely watery. I feel disrespected to the highest degree. This was also during black history month. The seats have semen stains, the back of the theater was infested with rat residue. I reclined my seat and got a suprise underneath. I really haven't been to this theatre in a while since my last visit I got a contact walking into the lobby. So I would not suggest going on a late Saturday night when all the teenagers are out. The concession stand moved rather quickly and wasn't stingy with their butter and popcorn. My hubby was even able to get extra peppers and cheese for his nachos at no extra cost. Walking into the movie theatre the floors were kind of sticky with of course a crunch and crackle with every step you took from the popcorn on the floor. We went to this DISASTER of a movie theater over the weekend and will NEVER be back! We only went here because we were already in the suburbs for a prior event. We sat down and then immediately turned the flashlight on to see what the rough surface was. EWWWW!!! Luckily, I keep a "movie blanket" in the car. After wiping down the seats, we spread the blanket across this pool of bacteria. We tried desperately to enjoy the movie while making sure not to recline or do anything else that would cause us to touch the surface of these seats. After the movie, we went to use the bathroom and there were large garbage cans in the hallway catching dripping water from the molded ceiling. The bathroom smelled like a decomposing body mixed with steaming hot garbage. When we got home we threw everything we had on in the washing machine and showered vigorously. Avoid this place at all costs! We will continue to patron our west suburbs and downtown Chicago theaters. Get it together, Chicago Heights!!! read more

For Marcus Corp to be the 4th largest theatre circuit in the US, this place was a dump! We paid $30 to see a movie on a Friday night. Big mistake! This place felt like what used to be a $1 theatre back in the day. Everything was overpriced! The food counter was messy and we watched the cashier use gloves to do everything (take orders, open frozen food packages, open the oven, clean, etc.). I was so disgusted that we ended up getting candy and a soda. The candy stand was a chaotic mess and they only had crushed ice at the drink station. I did not want a slushy, but that's what I got. The fake leather was all peeled off the seats and just gross. The movie started 20 or so minutes late. Lastly, the family of 6 next to me had a 4 or 5 year old that talked throughout the entire movie. Not sure how they were allowed entry with a small child to an almost 3 hour movie that started at 7:30, but it happened (Note: I have 2 children under 5 and I hired a sitter). Well, the movies just are not simply the movies anymore! It is a night on the town at Marcus Cinemas. The Chicago Heights location has re-invested in the property with very nicely remodeled theaters, with sleek decor, wider aisles, and modern reclining seats. Concession stand options have improved as well. You can now enjoy beer and wine, as well as many other foods, besides your "run-of-the-mill" popcorn, nachos, and candy. I recently read an article that Marcus Cinemas plans to update the Orland Park location to this new and modern approach. Additionally, I also read Marcus Cinemas has newly acquired the recently abandoned AMC Loews Theater in Country Club Hills. What a nice addition that will make to the burgeoning strip mall over there! read more

Employees are decent. Some of the theatres are old and small. Old chairs. Bathrooms are in need of cleaning. They should be monitoring those on the hour. Pricing for movies are good. Many different options/deals. Food is terribly expensive. There is a Connie's pizza counter in the far wing that is never used. Concession areas too, but not used. Me and my friends went here for the cheap tickets but I guess not everything is good for cheap. We got kicked out because the lady said the movie was rated R. Even though it said PG13 right outside and even searched up the movie and even google said it was PG13. The lady was very rude and egnored my questioned when I asked why we got kicked out. She asked for our tickets but then when we pulled them up she refused to look at them. A lot of other teenagers got kicked out also. read more

You know what's great? Not expecting great customer service and being blown away by it . Thumbs up for Juell who sold me and my son tickets to Mirror Mirror and Titanic 3D. (Yes, that's right we saw both movies on the same day.His choice of movies, not mine!) She was so sweet to my son. She didn't have to be. She could have just taken our money for the tickets and waved us through. Instead, she took time to talk to my little 6yr old son and made his and my movie going experience more enjoyable. The guy who took our tickets was also very friendly. At some theatres, I almost feel like the workers would be just at home at the DMV. Not so here! Employees are definately great. As far as the setup...I have to agree with previous poster. The snack area is set up in a very odd way. :Luckily it wasn't very crowded when me and my son went. Still, there was a bit of traffic jam. I can only imagine what happens when it is a rush. Also coffee isn't listed on the menu. I only realized they had coffee when I went to get napkins and saw stirs. The coffee is actually pretty good here! Lavazza! I was expecting grocery store watered down coffee.(I know I am odd. What kind of person chooses coffee over soda at the movies? A much better experience than Marcus orland park! We bought tix to see the new Star Wars movie and went today on Christmas. We were expecting awful lines and mayhem but were surprised at how manageable the crowds were. As other reviewers said it was pleasantly not crowded for a small theater (maybe it is a lesser known theater so off the radar). The process of buying our tix was really easy--we saw that there was dream lounger seats with a superscreen that we had to get reserved seats for so we booked them easily on fandango ($4.50 convenience fee though I think if you're a member the fee gets waived). When we got to the theater it was so easy to pick up the tix--there were a couple computers where we just walked up and put our ticket number in and out printed the tix. No lines. The theater personnel was surprisingly professional and it wasn't overrun by young kid groupies. When we sat down we LOVED the dream lounger seats--so comfortable and clean! And the screen was huge! It was the perfect theater to watch Star Wars on. One negative part of the experience though was we had an unfortunate circumstance with our food order. We rushed there for a 7pm show and were in the food line by 7:05. Ordered popcorn, hot chocolate, an icee and brownie bites. They gave us a pager for the brownie bites as those had to be prepared though we had the rest of the order. So we waited. And waited. And waited. By 7:20pm we checked in because the pager hadn't gone off yet and we were majorly missing the movie :( We were told that the other counter was going to have the order and to check in with them (what looked like the grill area for cooked foods but didn't have registers). So then we waited at the other counter. When it looked like they weren't working on our order we asked again and they pulled it off a shelf and said it was ready 10 mins ago. ???? They said there was a mistake and the pager numbers got mixed up. We were really disappointed in the system and their lack of apology or sympathy. So after the movie was over we went to the food counter to express our concern and learned it happened to many other orders in addition to ours. The manager was awesome and sincerely apologized and without question refunded the brownie bites and gave us free movie passes. YES. He was professional and understanding which made up for our disappointment especially as it was Christmas. Great experience and I love this theater over Marcus in orland park! Customer service was absolutely horrible. Would never bring myself, or family to this establishment again. I could handle being "out of stock" of food items but customer service need serious work. Not sure who the young woman was at the food counter, petite, with glasses but she was the worst and even ruined my experience this past Tuesday night. Woman at the ticket counter was the opposite. I think the reviews here are mostly accurate but dated. Some experiences are beter than others, but overall it's a decent theater. The customer service is good, no ugly attitude workers that I've encountered. The bathrooms are kept clean, no odors corrupting the movie experience. They removed the arcade, I didn't see many people using it anyway. Sometimes the lines are very long so I advise you to use the app and buy your tickets in advance to save a little time. The Movie Rewards card takes away the processing fee from buying in the app. Oddly, you still have to stand in line to have your in app tickets processed for a physical ticket, but it's still faster (the kiosk hasn't worked yet to scan in app tickets). The Dream Lounger seats are comfy. Apparently the whole theater will be dream loungers soon. The lobby and other areas have been renovated and there is an expensive pizza eatery inside. The pizza bites are tasty and filling. With the upcoming 2016 Marvel and DC movies, I look forward to a few comfortable movie outings that I don't have to drive an hour to get to. It's like a whole new theater! 4 stars because of the ridiculously overpriced did items. A family of three could easily end up paying $50 to $80 on tickets and a light meal. read more

The film I paid to see with my fiancé on 4/6/2018, had a 9:00 PM start time; however, the film previews did not begin until 9:35 PM. And when the film did begin the color was distorted and the theatre overhead lights weren't cut off. The theatre overhead lights were not cut off until 9:51 PM. When I first attempted to speak to the shift manager, Bri, at 9:30 PM she ignored me and walked past myself and other concerned customers that were immediately standing outside the theatre room door, as she checked to see if the lights were still activated. After Bri, disregarded the disatisfied customers standing outside the theatre door for approximately 20 minutes, she reappeared at the manager's office which I relocated to in order to speak to her. I advised Bri, how disatisfied I was as a patron of the business who has been attending Chicago Heights Marcus Theatre location for over two decades. Based on the considerable amount of time I've spent at Marcus Theatres I advised Bri, I knew it was common/best practice for a rep from the business to enter the theatre room and inform moviegoers they are aware of the issue and diligently working to have it fixed. Because perhaps outside of the customers who take it upon themselves to seek out the manager to find out if the issue is being addressed, there are customers who are patiently waiting totally ignorant of what corrective efforts are being taken. But I informed Bri, no one ever came into the theatre room to extend the courtesy of letting the audience know what was going on. But because I had to seek out the manager, Bri, who had failed to have someone address the audience regarding the issue, I missed fifteen minutes of the beginning of the movie which I was five minutes early for. Other than being disappointed in the breakdown in communication, I was highly appalled by the lack of customer service skills displayed by the manager. While acknowledging her failure to send a rep to address the audience regarding the issue, she appeared aloof. A total lack of sympathy and just to speak for my fiancé and myself, excluding the other customers appealing to Bri, she made us feel as if we were bothering her when we came to express our concern about the issue. If the manager of a business openly displays poor customer skills that calls me to question not only the rank and file but upper management who allow this manager to treat customers in an unsatisfactory manner. After gaining the general manager Steve's name, We got our refund and left the theatre. For the rest of 2018 I will not attend the Chicago Heights Marcus Theatre location. I hope this review can be instrumental in approving the location. read more

IS THE NATIEST THEATER THAT I'VE EVER BEEN IN! IT WAS SO NASTY THAT MY SHOE STUCK TO THE CARPET & ALMOST CAME OFF! There was a dead gnat on our popcorn box, the concession area was beyond filthy, there was balled up tissue in front of the bathroom, nasty floors that make your shoes stick to the floor, dried pop/juice on the concession counter, etc. It was unbelievable how nasty this place was. My 1st visit was a year ago and I was horrified by the seats, they were so dirty and sticky. I vowed to NEVER return. In 2016, thank God, Marcus Theaters Chicago Heights got a face lift. The new seats are fantastic! I frequent ipic and AMC York Town but this remodeled theater keeps me from driving out that far so often now. They did a great job with this place. Now that I gave them their kudos...let's get to the business! These people are the slowest concession workers ever! No matter what day of the week, they are like molasses. Management really needs to look into quality control and accuracy. I don't have these problems at no other theater. You miss 5-10 min of your movie messing around with these ppl and NO, I'm never running late for my movie. Lastly, they need to hire someone just to keep a broom and dust pan in their hands, the floors are always dirty. I went today and the movie theater wasn't even cleaned from the last movie. I know this because it was only 4 seats sold in the entire theater, it was empty. It's a shame ppl don't throw out their garbage but if they don't, the employees should...No one wants to walk in a theater with coffee cups, candy wrappers, and popcorn all over the place.
