Lingers is a small little bar that is actually well decorated and clean. It's located in a strip mall next to dunkin doughnuts so it's not the classiest place in the world, but it's suitable for having a quick drink in the south suburbs. There is a moderate amount of seating and it is not crowed on weeknights. As mentioned before the bartenders are rude. On the weekend, The clientele is a mixture of 78 year old men with oxygen tanks, 22 year old chicks wearing leggings or summer dresses in the winter time, a few professionals, and 2 Aunt Gladys that are asleep in the corner after having too much to drink (true story)! That old lady was in a deep sleep and almost rocked out of that bar stool to her death. We came around 10pm on a Wednesday night and it wasn't packed at all (which was a good thing for me). There was no hassle or no cover charge to get in. We immediately were able to sit at the bar and the bartender was very friendly and made the best drinks for us. No watered down drinks either! I absolutely LOVED the lighting and the ambiance in there and the Dj was the bomb. I plan on returning to this place because they have weekly specials on drinks and they offered $1 tequila shots and $1 tacos on Tuesdays. They also offer free food at 9pm. Friendly staff. Martinis ran from $9-12 which is to be expected. I liked that the tables were along the wall to allow people to dance and others were able to enjoy conversation. Dj was taking requests and announcing the people that were out celebrating. They had a VIP section, but couldn't really tell what the perks were. I'll give this place one star for the ambiance, one star for the John Basil tequila and another star for the DJ on Tuesday ( great selection of music ) . It's $1 tacos and $1 tequila shots. There was an older ugly bartender lady with braids going straight to the back with these ugly long lashes, trying to be cute with an ugly attitude, your a bartender you know it's busy and crackin' on Tuesday, so why the attitude?? Had a birthday party here this past weekend and it ended on a horrible note. To make a long story short, I went outside to speak to some of my guests and they refused to let me back in. The security guard claimed that I was intoxicated. What he used to make this judgement, I will never know. I was outside laughing and talking with friends. Had I been drinking? Yes. It's a bar, so that seems logical. Was I publicly intoxicated? No. He told people everything from I was fighting, stumbling and talking loud. The story kept changing and none of it was true. If he was telling the truth there would have been one consistent narrative about what happened. When my friends reviewed the place on Facebook and other social media sites, the establishment's response was that they were sorry that we were unaware of public intoxication laws. Nope. I have a Ph.D. and I am very aware of those laws, not that one would need a degree to know this, but the response was dismissive and condescending as if we were an uneducated group of patrons undeserving of an explanation or efforts to rectify the situation. Furthermore, that statement implies that I was drunk which is a a libelous claim, as they had no proof. One would think that a business would be careful and not make erroneous assumptions about individuals and proceed to post them on a public forum. What they choose to enforce is very arbitrary. The club is supposed to be 25 and up and I called to inquire whether my patrons who were under 25 could gain entry for my party and I was told no. Well they tried their luck and came anyway and the thirsty 'security guard' let them in. I know for a fact that at least 3 people were in there underage and they are willing to come forward when I report it to the Oak Forest Police. And, I also know or a fact that security was aware of at least one patron there with a pistol. I think I'll report that too. What they enforce is laughable. It's also interesting that even the manager came outside and admitted that he wasn't sure why that decision was made. And, furthermore he came outside because he was trying to figure out why EVERYONE was leaving because almost all the patrons there were with my party. As such, even if the security guard wanted to act on his incorrect assumption, one would think that management would make their own assessment of the situation and perhaps allow me, host of the party, back in and just not serve me more alcohol. Or, perhaps designate someone with my party to be responsible for me. I did not need any of these things, but the point is that there were multiple ways to handle the situation as opposed to kicking out the party host who had spent a great deal of money in their establishment. Finally, the service was horrible. No one was intoxicated because it was impossible to get served. Even the bottles that we purchased in order to reserve the space for the party were almost impossible to get. Best wishes to the Linger Martini, we will take our business elsewhere, place like this come a dime a dozen, no big deal. I find it particularly interesting that when we reserved the party, the bartender allowed us to have both vip sections which I guess goes against the manager's wishes, but she did so because she said, "I'm just happy to finally get a booking". Jay who was my bartender on a "Wine Down Wednesday" is a wonderful charismatic person who definitely knows how to keep you entertained. I had a wonderful experience when I left off work and decided to relax for a little while at this sports bar. The crowd was mature so I wasn't worried about fights or anything of that nature happening. The bar is conveniently located a few blocks off the I57 expressway so it was easy to navigate too. Another plus is that you can bring in your on outside food so you can drink and eat your favorite food of your choice while enjoying great conversation with random patrons. Went for my friends birthday party. She paid for bottle service. All of her guests bought drinks from the bar too. They threw us out because she received alcohol as a gifts. She didn't open any of it. the security stood over her while she packed up all of the food and presents. They made all of the guests exit the premises immediately! I will never go back there! Went to a birthday party on May 2, the night of Maywether fight. This was my second visit to Linger and, in fact, I recommended it to the person giving the party among a list of several options in the south suburbs. Linger is small, clean, pleasant. Three hours into my visit, I discovered the restroom was apparently being managed (always a good sign in a busy venue). Nice sound system, appropriate for size. Large drink menu with martinis differentiated by base liquor. Strip mall location is odd but it's nice to have such an option in the South Suburbs. I first visited in May 2013. Me and friend had a great time. Linger had a deal where you got a bucket of 5 mini bottles of Korbel for $15. We arrived early enough to get good seats and had a ball doing people-watching. There were the young women bursting out of summer clothes in 40-degree temps, bruhs in fedoras, a few 50+ folks trying to vibe on hip hop so they could pick up someone and just a pretty happy vibe all around. Service was pleasant and fast. Last nite, most of the above-mentioned were in place. I was doing fine until I ordered my first and last bar drink of the night. Party guests were each given five drink tickets to defray the cost of a bar cocktail. Nice gesture, right? I review the extensive menu and place my order with the bar tender only to discover she has no idea how to make the drink. While I wait, she consults the second bartender who apparently have her the recipe. I pay for my drink ($8) with the five tickets and a $20, assuming each ticket was equivalent to one dollar. I notice the bartender putting my tickets into a bucket beside the register and take bills out of the same register. When the bartender gave me change of $12, I asked why. What happened to the tickets? Without asking, she took a $5 tip and explained to me this was "how people do it." I was appalled but kept my composure. After gently objecting to her taking the cash without asking, she returned it. I told her not only the act of tipping but the amount to be tipped is to be a customer-based decision. At this time, I was enjoying my own drink and decided to give her $2 (the equivalent of 25% of my tab). For the rest of the night, I chose to sample cocktails from the birthday honoree. The waitress tried to scam me, basically. By the way, Linger did not show the fight. I realize there a financial costs involved but really? If you find yourself receiving drink tickets to be used at Linger, beware of the bartender! read more

I threw a party here a couple weeks ago(Jan 31st) on a saturday night, thestaff was amazing and helpful, the drinks were on point and very reasonable, even the security was really cool and the DJ set the evening off right....making sure everyone had a great time, from house music, to old school rap music to even new ratchet music...then broke out some jamicain dancehall tracks...it was awesome, this was my fifth time here, it gets better and better each time! Live in the city but its becoming more challenging finding good spots with good hip hop music and good drink prices so a group of us went here Friday. We had a nice time. 30+ crowd and the DJ "Wyldchild" was super nice. He started out playing old skool hip hop 80s,90s and 2000s but as it got later he began playing new school hip hop and thats when we when left. No disrespect, I like what I like...Drinks were "on point for sure" and not too expensive...Bartenders were good and attentive.. Atmosphere was cool, grown and mature. Would have given 4 stars but it began to get crowded with more men than women after midnight..Owner needs to do something to market more women after midnight. BUT, mos def coming back. read more

When I first arrived I felt that grown and sexy atmosphere. The martini's are a little expensive compared to places downtown, not a big deal. Here is the set up on a Friday night. If you are one who is between 40-50 years of age, it's a great place to hang out right after work. After 8:00 p.m. there is a huge turnaround. The music changes from urban contemporary to a DJ entering & mixing up rap. Then goes the girl setting up the cash table at the door. Then magically the crowd changes to 22-30 year olds. Oh, there is a cover charge of $10.00 after 9:00 p.m. If you want food, you have to order from Kingston & they deliver. The food was great. Although it is a huge welcome for the south surburbs, I'm not sure I will be a regular.
