We've been HB patrons since it opened years ago, and my husband and I have always considered it a solid 5‑star value -- especially in today's economy. We really appreciated that the ticket prices and food stayed reasonable even as costs increased. We're lowering our rating by one star because the new management no longer offers the weekday specials we loved, like discounted beer, margarita pitchers, and martinis. Those deals made HB feel welcoming and affordable, and their removal has noticeably changed the experience for us. We hope management considers bringing some of those specials back. read more

I really wanted to love Hollywood Blvd, especially because I appreciate the vintage, nostalgic concept they're going for. The atmosphere definitely has a fun throwback feel, and I can appreciate the creativity behind it. Unfortunately, the actual experience was pretty disappointing. The "seating" being office chairs was especially underwhelming for a movie theater experience--they weren't comfortable and definitely didn't feel like the kind of seating you expect when you're paying to enjoy a movie. The service was another major letdown. The waiters weren't very attentive, didn't seem to listen to what we were asking for, and we had to work to get their attention. The drinks were also extremely weak and lacked much flavor, which was disappointing given the overall concept. I really wanted the vintage nostalgia to make this place stand out, but unfortunately the execution didn't live up to the experience I was hoping for. There's definitely potential here, but the comfort, service, and drinks need some improvement. read more

My wife and I went to see Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory revival screening, and it was fun seeing the movie on the big screen. Except for the fact that the sound was too loud and somewhat distorted, but still fun. However, the food and service was not on par. They brought us our correct orders, but not the way wanted. We asked for no pickles, onions, lettuce and tomatoes on our burgers, yet we received them with the vegetables on them. Our drinks were also incorrect, my wife wanted no ice in her drink, and I wanted ice in mine. She got ice in hers and no ice in mine. I wanted a side salad instead of fries with my burger, but I got fries and no salad. My wife also ordered a Caesar wrap, but did not get it till the second half of the movie. And it's difficult to get service and not miss out on watching the movie. And they could not give me a paper receipt for the meal. I hope when they renovate the theater, they better have get their staff better trained to get orders right the first time, and to check the sound levels. It's been better. You can feel the wear and tear. From the seats. To the bathrooms (terrible). The food is still decent. But getting your server to pay attention to you is another story! We went last night (Saturday) for Spider-Man. Not a surprise it's gonna be a busy theatre. Big opening weekend. Saturday night. However it appears they were caught off guard. Super slow service taking orders. In fact the waitress had to ask if we had our order taken already or not. Seemed very confused. G8 & G9 were the seats. Chairs very rocky. Hard to keep them still and the height adjustment just doesn't work anymore. I now know why they have a request in the main lobby to vote for new chairs. Food came out in a weird sequence obviously they tell you it comes as it's prepared. But I thought apps normally should come before entrees. Not tonight however. Apps came last. Popcorn was first. (Very good popcorn) Burgers were good. But trying to get your servers attention for the mayo and mustard you requested. Forget it. Maybe when the movie is almost over and you're done eating then it came! Refills? Forget it. You are lucky to get your drink during your meal. But never a refill $6 for a Coke Zero with no refills. Oh well. And then a mad dash for the men's room after the movie to find out the floor was so wet from being mopped and only a couple stalls worked. All urinals out of order. Do not buy tickets at Hollywood Blvd Cinema in Woodridge. Today at the 1:45 showing my 10 and 11 year old daughters and I arrived as the previews were ending. We had paid in full. We were nearly turned away and told we either sit through the trailers or take a later showing. My kids were close to tears in the lobby over a rule nobody mentioned when we bought the tickets. When I pushed back, the employee threatened us. His words were that we could leave and get a refund if we were going to be rude. Two little girls standing right there, and that was the response. Understand what this policy really is. The seating cutoff is so servers can take food orders before the movie starts. It is about their restaurant, not your experience. And it is nowhere on the ticket when you pay. We paid for the movie. We did not pay for the ads. Policing whether families sit through commercials, then threatening to throw them out over it, is the most unprofessional thing I have seen at a theater. Take your family literally anywhere else. Birthday passes expire the day BEFORE they say they expire. Never going back. We've been coming here since it opened and come here for every birthday in a family of 8. Service has always been poor and this just seals years of sub-par experience. Drove all the way over for literally nothing. They sent a reminder yesterday March 3rd that my pass (that I didn't even realize I had since it didn't mention birthday once in the email) was going to expire soon. I clicked the link and got the pass expiring March 4th (today). I went for an evening show and they turned me away saying it was expired. So be it. Way to turn an easy layup into a total loss. We go as a family and there are 8 of us. This was for a single birthday pass. So they've lost 8 customers just by not having their stuff together. They used to give 8 birthday passes, then 4, then 2, now 1, and it expires the day before it says it does. Get it together HB. We went to the 6:30 PM showing of Spider-Man on 6/4, and unfortunately it was another disappointing visit. Most of the young children in the theater were well behaved, but the child seated behind us spent much of the movie talking, wandering the aisles, walking behind other seats, and pushing on the backs of occupied chairs. The adults weren't much better--they carried on conversations during the movie and even put their feet on the backs of seats that other guests were sitting in. To make matters worse, our food service was extremely slow. The popcorn we ordered didn't arrive until about 90 minutes into the movie, making it essentially pointless. I asked to speak with the manager after the show. He came by while we were paying the bill, apologized for the delayed popcorn, and comped it, which I appreciated. However, he never returned after the movie to discuss the disruptive behavior in the theater as requested. This wasn't an isolated experience. Every time we decide to give Hollywood Blvd another chance, something seems to go wrong. We really want to enjoy this theater because the concept is unique, but the consistently poor guest experience makes it difficult to justify coming back. read more

Immerse yourself into Hollywood History. I enjoyed seeing the decorations and the posters. Ticket prices are reasonable, what they get you on is food/drink prices. They are usually short staffed. For example, getting someone at the ticket counter. (I like coming here when I have a b1g1 free voucher). Don't expect high quality food. Nothing fancy. Order an icee and get a knock off slushy in a soda cup. They used to have pitchers of long island ice tea or different martinis on the menu but I didn't see them anymore. Waffle fries also not available. Menu was pretty limited. I used to love the taco salad. I ordered the fried chicken sandwich - it tasted like the oil used for frying was old. Fries were cold. Today we tried to purchase tickets and were told that entry isn't allowed after fifteen minutes of the posted movie time !! Say what ? Do you think you're my boss ? My place of employment? My grandson turned three today and can be very deregulated at times .. in consideration of any issues we purposefully come later considering those previews can last up to 1/2 hour or more sometimes .. do you have any children ? Doubtful as even your manager tonight couldn't care less that she turned 3 patrons away without the slightest remorse in breaking my grandsons heart by not seeing the movie. There were two other ladies at the bar that stood in line and had their tickets .. and also had to wait for the next show. They too were furious Sometimes I can't sit thru that extra half hour either .. You are there for Our entertainment.. not to punish people . All because you have a new "system" that can't accommodate any variances .. or perhaps your servers can't get the orders straight in the first place for as MOST times .. we've been served food spotty or really late .. and cold or just plain wrong . I've been coming here since the early 2000's. I absolutely love this place. It never changed and what it was doing was clearly working. Recently I saw online the place was auctioning everything to prepare for a huge renovation. Thats concerning but hey, they aren't closing. So we showed up for Mortal Kombat 2 over the weekend. We see the new chairs they are "upgrading" to. Which look like the normal AMC chairs only with a generic, small tray table attached for the food. AMC's are closing left and right... why would you start NOW adapting what they use? I don't like it. We get up to the entry point. Some guy too busy talking to his friend tells me "maybe five more minutes until seating," and goes back to his friend. About five minutes before start time, I see people just walking in. Do we not make seating announcements anymore...? We walk up and get in.... Thanks for saying the theater was ready. Guess talking to your friend was more important. We see the new food menu.... Completely different than the previous menu. Much smaller and more limited. Guess the small tray table on the new chairs makes sense now.... The food arrived and my order was wrong. Awesome. Over 40 minutes later our drinks finally arrived. How does it take 40 minutes to get a margarita? The waiter came back ONCE after the drink arrived. At that point I didn't even ask for another one or anything else. Typically this place has been fantastic but come on. Well I found out her name is DANA and she smelled awful, the food and service was awful, and this business is awful. AVOID at all costs. I love local businesses, and this is definitely one of a kind. With movie memorabilia everywhere, this is a film lovers paradise. The concessions - and popcorn, in particular - were great in terms of selection and quality. I'm taking off a star for the uncomfortable chairs. It seems like they bought hundreds of mid-quality office chairs a decade ago and haven't replaced them since. While this won't be my go to theater, it is a nice novelty and I'll go back for special events! read more

This place seems to be going downhill. Been there several times and each time it seems to get worse. We ordered the grinch dip and a wrap. The dip took 35 minutes and was a small portion. the wrap which was just lunch meat so it didn't have to be cooked took an hour. Then it was almost all lettuce. Had barely any meat or cheese. It was horrible. After waiting an hour it was awful! Yes it was busy but most people order their tickets on line so they are aware of what to expect. This theater is a very cool theater. It have a lot of interesting decor everywhere. Each room have different themes which surprises me everytime I come here. The food is pretty good. I ordered the taco salad and it is pretty decent. The portion is pretty big for me. The price is good since we always come watch a movie on a Wednesday night. It is $5 on Wednesdays. If you have a coupon from a local coupon book, it is buy one get one free which is a good deal. The service was good both time for us.The waiter always comes back and ask if we want drinks refill or if we wanted to order more food. For me, the women's bathroom was clean both time that I was there. The only thing I didn't like was the office chair. I wish it is a recliner chair like the other theater. read more

let me paint you a picture. my girlfriend and i have been to hollywood palms before (idk if they're related or not but the vibes of the theatre are very similar). good food, good vibes, good seating. this is not that. when i say "bad movie theatre seat" you probably picture one of those old fabric red folding theatre seats. what you most likely don't picture, and what we discovered when we walked in our theatre, was desk chairs. actual rolling office desk chairs. i felt like i was at a work conference. not only were there desk chairs in a movie theatre, but the desk chairs were awful. they were all broken and wobbly and the one my girlfriend had wouldn't go up or down (again, a strange thing for a chair at a movie theatre to be able to hypothetically do!) so she was just a little bit short for the high top the entire time. you would also think that perhaps a theatre with food would have little tables or trays attached to the seats. not strange high top desks that again, made you feel like you were at a work conference. god awful chairs aside...if you're going to serve food, you should cook it. that wasn't our experience. first, our onion rings were just rings, no onions in sight. just chewing on stale ? deep friend dough. i didn't know there was a way to screw up french fries so badly, but they found a way. they weren't so much french fries, more soggy pieces of cardboard that crunched in the places they shouldn't have, and were soft in all the places they should have been crunchy. every single piece of food ingested left a bad aftertaste, which of course caused for a really great viewing experience!! now for the actual entrees. my chicken tenders? dry and kind of cold but also kind of warm. that seemed to be a theme, because my girlfriend's steak quesadilla was the same! ice cold and soggy, but somehow still warm in the middle. it was like she had a limp stale quesadilla that they took out of a forgotten cabinet and threw a few pieces of steak on it that seemed to be freshly taken from the cow, painted grey, and slapped onto a tortilla. finally, the garnishes! thank god they remembered it! the quesadilla was topped with a few scattered tomato cubes that looked as if they had been thrown on the plate from across the room. perhaps while wheeling past on a desk chair. in short, at the end of the day i'm really just shocked and confused on how so many things can go wrong for a company that is still open. i guess i understand why we got these tickets for free at a school involvement fair. the one star is for wicked. read more

I was skeptical. Basically a clone of Alamo Drafthouse I was told. But wow. Solid food. FAIR PRICES ($6 movie tickets in the middle of the day on the weekend!) Funky and fun theatres (I peeked at a couple other ones. I was in the Star Wars one which was great). The entire building is a shrine to movie-going and someone who loves films must have decorated it (the Hitchcock alcove was hilariously done! Love it.). The chairs are office chairs and rolling and super comfortable. It wasn't a perfect visit and I ought to give it four stars (side salad came. With no dressing. And a spoon. But the server pretty quickly remedied that) but I'm giving them five. Great attitudes. Great spaces. Fun. read more

This was one of the worst movie theater experiences I've ever had. First off, they forced us to buy something before we could even watch the movie. Like seriously? You can't just buy a ticket and sit down you have to purchase snacks or drinks or they won't let you in. That's ridiculous. Then, when we finally got inside, the "seats" weren't even real theater seats they were office chairs. Wobbly, squeaky, uncomfortable office chairs. It felt like watching a movie in a break room, not a theater. To make things worse, they didn't even turn off the lights all the way. The whole time there was this bright glow that totally ruined the atmosphere. It felt like they just didn't care about giving people a proper movie experience. Awesome experience we went and saw peaky blinders a few days ago. The whole theater was full so I expected slow service. But nope Michael was awesome! We drove all the way from Chicago! ( my girl wanted to try this place it was our first time ) Respected the hussle of all the employees handing us food but mostly our server. Michael was amazing he got us refills on our drinks and made sure my girl got her martinis. I haven't been here in many years. My cousins wanted to come here to see Black Panthers. It looks like nothing here has been updated. Everything looks so outdated and old. There is no customer service to check in your movie ticket. I guess all movie purchases has to be done online. You have to now scan in on your phone and get your tickets printed out. We located our seats and someone was there to assist us. Menus are placed on the table for you to place your food/drink orders. They really need to update the chairs. My chair was broken and wouldn't go up every time I pulled it up it slide right back down. I like how everyone is respectful during the movies. The assistance were kind and attentive. I ordered the chicken strips which came with fries. I asked for ranch sauce but instead got sour cream? Just update everything here the decor food and drink menu. It has a very old kick back look. For some reason in this digital age, they won't accept it if you don't have them printed out on paper. Recommendation: get with the times and update it so that you can use them digitally. Minus 1 star. Also the office chairs need to be fixed so that they're not leaning back so much. Food tonight was pretty good and the server was great. I'll add 1 star back. Mushroom burger was succulent and cooked just right. No toughness or dryness. Spinach and artichoke dip with garlic bread was wonderful. Garlic bread was warm and soft. Hollywood Blvd has been a theater I've been going to since I was a kid. Always wonderful times filled with smiles. I really like this theater and always will. My favorite food on the menu was the Freddy Fingers but wanted to try something new and tried their Spicy Chicken Sandwich. It was ehhh, the people I was with also said the Freddy Fingers are going downhill. They don't make them the same, precovid times. I definitely plan on coming back and also hoping the food gets back to how I remember them. The quality! Also, our server was nice & helpful with explaining things, which is always much appreciated.
