If I could give this place a negative 5 review I would. This was actually the worst experience I…read morehave ever had at a restaurant and I am not exaggerating. My sister and I sit down and order water. This young waitress then takes my food order (I ordered some pasta). My sister had already eaten, so she didn't get anything.... Ohhhh the owner didn't like that. She came up the stairs in a huff and just starts berating us like we're 5. "It's not fair to our chef" "you're taking up a two seater when you're only getting one meal" and the real kicker "Next time" NEXT TIME. I would genuinely rather starve :) But wait! It gets better! We sit there for over 30 minutes watching everyone around us get their food. Eventually the young waitress comes back and I ask to cancel my food and pay for the water. I see her go tell the owner and the owner proceeds to ignore us completely. So we paid for the water and left. That woman was despicable. I know you'll probably read this too and have some excuse (I read the other reviews) but I'll just leave it with no one, not even my worst enemy, should ever endure the misery of eating at this restaurant.

But I had a delicious lunch and I would recommend ordering from one of their prix fixe menus. I had the fish soup which came with a generous portion of a rich aoli that had a nice heat to it. The aoli came with two types of bread, one was a fresh semi-sourdough and the other were slices of toasted baguette. The toasted baguette, surprisingly, turned out to be the best and most delicious option combined with the aoli and the soup. The soup itself was deeply rich and earthy. It had a touch of curry and turmeric in it and it felt restorative... a fisherman's chicken soup. The soup was a meal in itself. For the plat principal I had the fish of the day which was beautifully prepared. The filet sat on a bed of nearly caramelized fennel and the accompanying sauce had rich but light touches of tomatoes and mangos and pine nuts. I have seen this kind of salsa accompaniment fail in so many fish dishes but here it was completely balanced and successful. The dessert I chose was forgettable. The service is completely masculine, it reminded me a bit of the old white table cloth restaurants in New York City where it almost feels like you've stumbled into a private sports club. But these gentlemen were pros and the service was excellent.

The food was so-so...the rockfish soup that so many had recommended was honestly my least favorite part - it was way too salty and the mix of spices/flavors just was not for me. The seared white fish was decent. The other dish we ordered was also nothing to write home about. Be careful not to get this restaurant confused with the other restaurant that has the same name in Chateauneuf du Pape.

Our server Thomas greeted us with a smile which made us feel extremely welcome as soon as we came in and sat us in a perfect location allowing us to overlook the upscale diner vibe the restaurant exudes while also granting us an intimate enough space to appreciate each other at our table. He proceeded to give us excellent recommendations while practicing his English (which was very good) and brought us everything we asked for in an extremely efficient and timely manner. The bartender, Nicholas, was also very welcoming and made us Limoncello spritz's that were the perfect way to cap off our exquisite dinner. The chef produced us a Michelin star quality experience with the timeliness and heat level of the food (I love my food to come to the table piping hot, and it did just that). The crispy Veal chop I enjoyed was cooked to PERFECTION with just the right amount of crisp on the outside and the juices running out from the inside each time I cut into it and was served with a hearty side of pasta that had a very flavorful sauce which I truly enjoyed. The Lasagna was better than any I've ever tasted and needed nothing additional to be enjoyed to the fullest. Pro tip: order the creamy polenta and you will be in heaven!! This is truly my favorite restaurant in France and I will definitely visit here each and every time I am here on holiday. Thank you so much to the staff for providing us such a top level experience!
