My hair was in serious need of a trim and my hairdresser had no available appointments so I decided to go to Margaritas for a silk press and trim. It had been several years since I've been here but they did a good job the last time so I hoped for the same. It was an early Saturday afternoon and I had no appointment so I knew air would be there awhile. First sign I saw was cash only and there's an ATM in there for "convenience." I left to go get cash from my bank. Upon rearrival I was offered coffee which is always a good sign. I finally get called to start my process I asked for a silk press trim and a hydration treatment. One of the ladies tried to sell me on some treatment that would help my hair not be frizzy and my reply was I would be getting braids so I wasn't concerned. Whatever system they have going on just doesn't work because they would start on someone's hair and forget who was next to do what. It also seemed like everyone there was in training because no one had a clue. The salon became pretty packed and it was rush central. As I was being blow dried one of the stylist asked if I was getting my hair straightened and another one replied to just pass my hair once because I would be getting braids and didn't need my hair super straight. This was all said in Spanish. I was immediately annoyed because I was still paying for a service and that's what I should get. I responded to the lady who seemed shocked that I understood that I was paying for a silk press and that's what I wanted. Long review short for the amount of heat (with no heat protectant) my hair was not what I was used too. And this trim was nonexistent. Even the other stylist had to point out that she could see the back of my hair wasn't straightened and that it needed to be done. When I took my hair down. It looked a mess. Roots still rough. My ends still split and a waste of $80. To try to short change customers because the salon is busy is poor customer service. Also it is time for some new tools. All the flat irons looked like they had seen better days and weren't as hot as they need too. And get staff that are versed in caring for the health and integrity of hair. Overall will never come back to this salon again. I'll stick to what I know

I just really came in hoping to get extensions of some sort. We settled on microlinks. I think that this was the wrong choice for my hair, my hair is very fine. The microlinks were installed and the very next day they were already slipping. Due to some confusion on the stylist's behalf as well as poor communication, other factors, it took me a week to get back to the salon and get my hair redone. At that point the stylist should have looked at my hair said that they microlinks probably were not the best option for my hair, and refunded my money, I told her that I was contemplating taking them out, but she said you already spent your money so it doesn't make sense to take them out. She never said a refund was an option. She said let me try to redo them. She also told me that her nails were too long for her to do them properly, and she didn't use hairspray like she should have. So I decided to give it another try. I was very weary of heat damage, and I expressed that to her multiple times. I had to ask for the flat iron to be turned down, which is not a good sign. She told me that they flat on everyone's hair at the same heat and I don't think that's the right thing to do especially because there are different types of natural hair and different thicknesses and textures. She charges $60 for a silk press but doesn't trim your ends. To make a long story short my hair was in great shape. Every piece of my hair curled before. I left today after having the microlinks in for about two weeks. I never touched my hair with a flat iron at home. I don't even own one. But my hair is heat damaged. I've been natural for two years straight and have worked extremely hard up until this point. She will not take fault for what happened to my hair even though I had not touched my hair with any heat before that point. She refuses to refund my money, she prefers for me to take her to court or bill her insurance. But she won't provide insurance info. She continuously asks me what she wants me to do. This was a terrible experience and a waste of $200. We went back-and-forth a few times on the phone but I never called her out of her name. She decided to call me a bitch. Also when you're in the salon they speak about you in Spanish. So if you don't understand it, I would go somewhere else. The washing and detangling of my hair both times was very rough. You don't just drag and yank a comb through the ends of natural hair, but that's what was done. There are multiple times where combs were dropped on the floor and not rinsed off first.... but just put directly in my hair. I watched the owner use a comb with someone else's hair while she was giving me a roller set. The cleanliness was very scary for me. There are hairballs everywhere. They keep product in these big glass containers by the sink... and just dip into them.... That's gross. I've never seen them clean with any real cleaning products. I have been there until close one night, they did not clean any of their tools, flat irons, combs, clips, rollers anything that they use in people's hair. Brushes. They're all unclean. If you love your hair. Steer clear. They have terrible attitudes. And if they fuck up your hair, they will tell you that it is your fault.

I've lived close to this salon for many years but never stopped in. This particular day, I really did not feel like spending hours washing my hair (natural hair probs‍) so I stopped in here for a silk press and I'm so glad I did! They spoke to me as soon as I walked in and I was service immediately. The wash felt ammaazziinnnggg! The blow drying was impeccable, like way better than what I could've done. As you can see, I needed a trim really bad & my trim was great. I don't usually use heat in my hair and by the time I was done, you couldn't tell I have 4C hair. All in all, I would def come back to another silk press or just a wash & blow dry!

I came in 2 weeks ago for a Dominican blowout, I have 3c/4b curly hair and it lasted because it hasn't rained lately but I love the stylist there. When they wash your hair they wash it with pride and leave your scalp feeling clean and healthy. They kinda pricey in my opinion only because I'm super cheap but it's worth it because they take their time and high effort in making your hair look good. The care I received was amazing and I'll be going back to get micro links this week!! They educated me on what my hair needed and how to maintain it because I've been experiencing bad ends the past months. Ever since I listened to them on how to treat my hair it has been growing. Totally worth going. Once I got home I put in extensions to make my hair look fuller

MARGARITA LIED THAT SHE COULD PERFORM THE HAIR COLOR AND RUINED MY HAIR. MY HAIR IS COMPLETELY DAMAGED!!

Margarita lied that she knew how to perform the color then ruined my hair. No apology or anything. Now I have to cut my hair and file a civil suit . This will not go in vain !

WORST EXTENSIONS IVE EVER HAD…read more After 4 weeks, I only had half of the hair that was installed left. So much of hair has been falling out that I had to have maintenance come unclog my drain, and my roomba vacuum got so trapped up with hair I had to literally cut it out. Joanna did my ktips, and not only complained about installing them the entire time and tried to convince me to switch to tape ins... she also then charged me another $300 when I came in to get them fixed (After already spending $2500 at the salon). This fix was needed because of Joanna's error. I was then charged for it. After expressing my distress, they offered me 50% off installation on the next set ?? (Btw that doesn't include the hair) As if I would ever let her touch my hair again... They handled the situation horribly and I gave them weeks to come up with a fair solution before I decided to leave this review.

Helpless hair fanatic found love in a hopeless place. Imagine this right off of I-95 and 7th…read moreavenue, is a diamond in a rough. This hairstylist is named Lockie. Not only does he know hair.... he does hair! (In my Tamar Braxton voice) Over the years, I had heard mentions of this hair angel, but never in a million years would I think that he was this good. I know most people when reading may have the following thoughts, I will not judge you. "Oh God, it's in the city!" "Oh, God, he probably will be one of those stereotypical black stylist, loud, late, and lacking knowledge in growing/maintaining hair!" Well, to be hones t, that is far from the truth. I just had my hair done and I tell you, I was so in love with my hair that I almost kissed him. Imagine this, due to horrific experiences with all sorts of stylists from a variety of backgrounds, I refused to let anyone touch my hair for months. Finally, I came across his website and I decided to give him a try due to his clientele, which is quite diverse. So, basically, I walked in to his shop looking like Cealy from the Color Purple except that my hair was not braided, it was tucked under a wig cap and a wig that looked like it had seen many rough days. My hair texture was the consistency of a brillo pad; yes, it was that rough! I booked the appointment and low and behold, I got a personalized introduction call, an email confirmation, and a friendly reminder. Oh, by the way, I was most impressed with his transparency. You ever go to a beauty salon and have to guess how much the stylist will charge you and with each visit she seems to charge a different price, but you don't haggle because she's the only thing you have? Well, not with Lockie, all prices were available on his website. How about when you go to a salon and want to know what product the stylist is using, but she's hides all the labels, so you don't bother because you think it some trade secret? Not Lockie, he delights in keeping his clients educated in product knowledge. Reason #2 that really impressed me was his timeliness and professionalism. No, I didn't get there and had to wait an hour or so for his next client to finish or did he have to take breaks just because like some other stylist do. Given that I am a professional woman, my time is precious and I do not take kindly when people use my session to perform personal tasks that can really wait. Ok, so, while he was taming the wild mane that resided on my hair, we exchanged pleasant conversation, not the juvenile or intrusive conversations that I have experienced with some stylists. He is mature so we had a pleasant time talking about life. I swear, if I had stayed their any longer, we would have had a Waiting to Exhale moment with the bonfire, etc. He is simply a nice person. Oh, did I mention he is super clean. Lastly, when he turned me around and I saw my hair, my self, I almost cried. My hair was so smooth and silky that when I whipped my neck there was movement. When, I left, the wind blew threw my hair and I could not help but to chuckle inside. I went from Cealy to Cinderella in a few hours. He has the education, the experience, and the knowledge to do hair. Services include relaxers, pressing, coloring, treatment, cuts. Oh, did I mention, his mentee is now a sylist for Rihanna. HELLO....HE KNOWS HAIR! 11/2015Update he moved to a more safer and accessible location off of I-95 and 163,https://www.styleseat.com/m/book/?redirect_referrer=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.bing.com%2Fsearch%3Fq%3Dstyle%2Bseat%2Bby%2Blockie#/p/healthyhairbylockie
