After doing some research on Yelp I chose this salon for a hair trim and a single process color . It's a non-descript place in a strip mall, The appt was at 11:30, and I left at 2:25 and didn't get a cut... ridiculous I requested my current color or a little lighter. I got darker , the stylist could see I was not pleased so she said that she could " fix" it. She started to do highlights and I told her I didn't want them .... she said she would do a few and it would look good I don't like highlights , and I have fine hair that tends to be dry so highlights only makes it worse. After a lot of foils and another 40 mins I was shampooed The shampoo person got water everywhere, down my back, my front , my face etc. She didn't take the dye stains off and I had to request that she do it .... this should be a given. I was led to a chair and asked if I wanted a dryer or to go home wet.. I did a brief blow dry , paid my bill ($200) and left Fast forward a few hours, at home , my scalp is red and my head itches everywhere I've been having my hair colored for over 25 yrs and this is the absolute worst experience and result that I have ever had. Needless to say I'll never be back ! And honestly , I think they should refund my money read more

I went in to get a touch up on my roots, just roots and the cost to that was $60 dollars, which I think is pricey$$$$$$. It looks dull and my roots are red, which my color is dark brown. When I went back after I called to complain, they told me it was like that because I had to dye my whole hair, not just my roots. They should of said this before my having my roots done, because after all they are the professionals right? I don't recommend them at all. read more

Go somewhere else to get a haircut. I called to asked if they cut hair for men, they told me "Yes", I wish they had told me "No". Went on lunch time, Tuesday April 6th. The person who cut my hair did such a terrible job, people at a coffee shop I frequent joked about my haircut and asked me where it was so they will never go. This woman who cut my hair seemed to have NO experience NOR training in cutting hair, for example: - Did not follow basic request of leaving hair longer on top, cut with scissors on top; instead she cut way to short and used too much machine and less of scissors. - Her attempts to do blends where terrible, my left side and right side looked different, with skin showing in higher side of the head. - She left chipped holes on the upper back side of my head from using machine; should have used scissors as requested. - She didn't do my side burns and did not offer a mirror so I can see how my lower back came out at the end, it looked different my left and right side. - This lady at NO point asked me how I wanted certain finishes to be, rounded, square, side burns or not, etc. She was only concerned with how I was wearing my mask and NOT concerned with the service she is got paid to deliver. read more

I prefer very short haircuts, and, from my experience, it is extremely hard to find a hairdresser who is not only comfortable with short haircuts, but can also create a stylish and feminine one. I have gone to the same hairdresser since I was a teen. I always had people complimenting my haircut and asking me for my hairdresser's information. But my darling Vanessa was diagnosed with cancer last December, and was gone by end of February. Not only my heart was broken because of my friend, but my hair has been a mess since the last time she cut it in January. I tried several hairdressers since, only to endure comments such as "its more feminine to have longer hair" and "you should have longer bangs because it's more feminine", or even "can I use clippers on you?" As you can imagine, when making an appointment at Sunflower Hair Studio, I was filled with much trepidation. I shared my preferred hairstyle with the receptionist, and she immediately recommended Nelis. And I loved Nelis and I LOVED my haircut after she was done with it. Not only Nelis is a great hair dresser, she is also a very wise person. First, she asked me if I wanted something different. I automatically blurted out "No", and said I had photos of my "pre-disaster" haircuts. She then looked at me, and asked if I liked my hair to just "go with me". And that's exactly how I like it. I want to wash it, brush it, and be on my way, my hair looking great without product or blow drying. She got me right away! At some point during the haircut I asked Nelis what she would do if I answered "yes" to her initial question. She said she would show me photos and asked me what I liked. "So is it too late to do that?" I asked, and she said, "This is not the right time for you to change your hair style. You came with a picture in your mind, and that's what you'd be most comfortable with. But in a few times, you will be ready for something new." I never thought about my current state of mind that way, but after I considered what she said, I realized how right she was. Long story short, my haircut came out lovely and exactly how I wanted it. Just for you to get an idea how good Nelis is, imagine my hair is less than 2 inches long, yet it has layers, shape, and volume. Also, my husband who came in with me, received a great haircut from Nelis as well. I highly recommend Nelis to anyone, especially if you prefer short hair. I wish I could pack her up and ship her to Los Angeles, where I actually live most of the time. But any time I am in Miami, Sunflower Hair Studio will be my go-to place without hesitation. read more

Starting with a great shampoo, then Nellys looked at the picture that I brought and concurred with me that it would work for me. She did a great job, I am very pleased with the results. Went here on a recommendation from a friend to do a little make over since my hair was really gaining too much length. David, the hairdresser was the one who gave me a complete and utter make over and I can say that this cut is worth a million bucks. Not only have I gained over 10 years in youth, but the cut was done perfectly. All the sides perfect in length, no area of my hair sloppily done. While I do enjoy the short hair cut, (think GQ short that gives me an opportunity to style) I can only imagine when it grows out a little. Dayron is the stylist I used and he listens and was able to match my hair color with their product. I love this place!! Its taken me two years to find a place that will cut my hair correctly. I have what some people call 'indian hair'. Which really means that I have tons of thick, heavy and wavy hair. One of the first questions I asked was, 'do you know what taking weight off means?' And as soon as they said yes--i was in the chair. Also, Yasmin is amazing at threading eyebrows and facials. The prices arent too bad and they do sometimes try to work with you. And at some point they are working on a night where they close the boutique and open it for ladies night....also slashing prices and creating affordable packages.
