I arrived a bit before the opening time of 9am, and was let right in. I told the stylist (Yuraima, I think) that I wanted a wash, deep condition and set, and she took me back to the sink right away. She washed my hair three times, which is once more than I usually lather it, but okay. After she applied the conditioner, she sat me under the dryer for about ten minutes, and offered me coffee, which I accepted. She even came back afterwards to make sure it was to my liking. At the sink to rinse my conditioner out, she grabbed a wide tooth comb. She rinsed me, reapplied a bit more conditioner, and combed through. She directed me to her chair, where she used a rat tail comb to section, and then patiently and gently comb through my hair. She sprayed some yummy citrus smelling concoction on it, too. To be continued once my hair is done. I sat under the dryer about 45 minutes, give or take, and then Yeimy took over the blow dry and flat iron. She asked me if I was going natural, which I am not, then seemed relieved at my answer, commenting that because my hair was long, the transition process would be "ugly" for me, and that some hair just looks better with a relaxer. I took that to mean that my natural naps would be displeasing to her eye. Minus one for this ignorance. All in all my hair looked as if it was freshly permed but with this South Florida humidity, I don't expect it to last too long. $45 for just under 3 hours, entrance to exit. There were about 6 other clients that came and went while I was there, with just the two ladies working. The atmosphere was pleasant, and the temperature inside was perfect; not too frigid, nor too warm.

I had really short hair and not enough time to take care of it and have 4c natural hair. I was there for a really long time but she did give my hair attention however I did not like it but I thought that it could have just been me. Fast forward to June of this year, I inquired about someone who does knotless plaits, Kurls was recommended. I didn't realize until after I made the appt, paid the deposit that it was at the same salon. I went, asked her if she could blow dry my hair because I didn't have time and didn't want to be late as I know they are on a schedule. When she was blow drying my hair, it felt like she was ripping my hair out she was not gentle at all. The box plaits was just ok to me. I feel like she didn't put a lot Care or attention to my hair and for what it's worth she didn't even take a picture. My tips have a little bleach because my dye was out. It didn't look as full to me, anyway I paid and left, still not impressed especially since her pictures on IG seem to look nice. My third visit was yesterday, to get a BoB. I hesitated to call to speak with her because I just was not impressed with the salon, I did though because several "Master Stylists" told me that they could not do the style. So I broke down and called but she was out the country. I left a message and returned my call, said she could do the style I texted to her. On the phone we discussed prices for braids and crochet, I decided to get crochet. I asked her if she provides the hair, she said not for crochet and suggested where to get the hair from after I asked where to go. I get the hair, she recommended 8 after I had to ask. She didn't tell me what kind of hair to get or anything I'm just flying blind. Moving on, she's done braiding my hair, install the crochet braids, THEN says the hair won't bend when she burn the ends!!! WHAT! I'm thinking why and why didn't you mention that earlier? I asked why, she said because synthetic hair doesn't burn like that or bend when you burn it! My next statement was , "I wish I would have known that"! Had I known she couldn't bend the ends like a damn BOB should be I would have went ahead and paid the money for the braids so the style could immulate the picture somewhat. At this point I am pissed but I digress! She goes and burn the ends after trying to tell me it will look nice even the other stylist and her client is like it looks nice, lies! So, I've gotten braids installed several times, I know the girls can burn the ends of synthetic hair to look really clean and slim not BULKY. I'm thinking ok if it doesn't bend then after she burn the ends it will at least be clean, NOT! All she did was burn them and cut the rest now the ends are big and bulky! I know she know my hair was not cute or NOWHERE near what I asked for and I know she knew I was not impressed! Usually, I would say something BUT it was my bday and I did not want to get upset! That is what would hav happened because she did NOT try to fix it or see how it could be made better or anything OR try to make me feel better, she just took my damn money, $95 at that and let me walk out of there a damn mess! With everything going on, COVID, ppl with no jobs, my mom had a stroke, I've been taking care of her, assisting my son in school, I just needed a pick me up and on my BDAY but this is what I get for the money, REALLY! I'm more upset because she did t seem to care that I didn't like it! I will NEVER go back to her. A"REAL" good stylist would never let a client walk out of there when they KNOW the client is not impressed. It doesn't even look like she tried. Anyway I'm here to report that I am glad I came today! Dee took good care of my natural hair. It's hard to find a salon where someone can just do a simple wash or wash and blow on natural hair without messing it up. Sometimes they use so much heat. Sometimes they're not in it for hair care meaning they aren't gentle with your natural coils. The stylist, Dee, was very gentle, very communicative, talked about what she was doing to my hair and the best care for my type of hair. She gave me tips on the things I can do at home to help me manage it so I don't find myself in a situation like I was today. Ie running around trying to find a salon lol. They environment was very casual and relaxed. All the staff members said hello and goodbye, just polite. Trust me, I've been to a salon over the summer where that was not the case, obviously that was a one time trip and I did not go back. I went in for a simple wash and ended up getting a wash and blow dry, minus the heat damage of course. I thought I'd save myself the time from doing it at home and just give someone a try with my hair. I do it at home because I do not trust anyone to cool dry my hair. Guess I found a new place! I am grateful for the care that she took in doing my hair and I know I'll be back again. As far as other styles, natural twist type or extensions, I didn't go for them so I am leaving a review based on the service I received. Thanks Dee.
