I really do not want to write such a review for Maria America, but if I don't write this, I fear someone will have the same issues I've had. First of all, Maria America should acknowledge that it is an agency for women with immigration problems and challenges. So, when you go to the agency, you have to expect that people are going to be flaky, inconsistent, and have "emergencies" all of a sudden and have to go back to Mexico. So, while the person is cleaning or caring for you home, it's great, then all of a sudden, they can't. So that part is difficult from a planning perspective. If regular changes to who is working for your family doesn't bother you, then Maria America's placements won't be an issue for you. The women are otherwise generally kind and sweet. From a professionalism standpoint, Danny is quite literally the rudest person you'll encounter. He starts off nice (as anyone would) but after a few encounters shows that he is short, curt and rude. Danny is the owner's son and has the sort of attitude you might expect from someone who did not start the business and does not understand that customer service is of paramount importance in this industry. I recommend that if you do decide to call Maria America, deal directly with the owner, as Danny is what makes you think the FBI should investigate this operation. He is shady and the way he conducts himself and makes placements is unethical and problematic. read more

I used to go to this agency between the years 1998-2000 they got me a nanny job placement but they took my first week wages which now I know that is ilegal, they took advantage of the ignorance and necessity of people like me, at that time... they never EVER give that money back after 2 weeks, thats a lie! The lady was very helpful at first but then the person she sent never stayed the 6 hours as requested and I had to take care of my child and my sick mother alone. I have had someone from Maria America help my cousin move and clean her apartment. I have had nannies and ladies to clean myself. I have never had any issues. STAY AWAY FROM THIS UNPROFESSIONAL AGENCY! This agency is run by con artists who will lie to collect your initial payment with no guarantee that anyone will actually show up to work for you! And if no one shows up, there are delayed attempts at finding you a replacement. In our case, no replacement was provided and our money was never returned. The "manager" Danny recommended a supposed stellar candidate to assist in the care of our dying father and actually wanted us to pay cash before we even met her or spoke with her. I was over there to hire a Nanny for live in and the guy whose name is Danny force the lady who I chose to tell me she is coming for live in and after I paid cash for the first week to the agency the lady never showed up and later on I figured out he forced her to say yes, but she never can working as live in. They're just trying to get money from you and after that, they won't help you find the right person, and they never refund your money. Patricia was very responsible And efficient In trying to find someone that would work for our family. I appreciate Maria America. My mom has been working with them for over 30 years and now I work with them Hilda and Patricia are great. They do take cash up front but they always deliver in case someone doesn't show up. I myself have been working with them over 12 years and I'm very happy with their services. If you talk to them and communicate to them what you need and the first person doesn't work out they will continue to find another person for you. Maria America whole operation is very shady with illegals trying to get work and the agency keeps their 1 week of pay . More than 90% percent of their candidates don't speak English . I work with this company when I was in high school between 2000 and 2001. While I was with them they provide me jobs as a housekeeper and babysitter. I don't remember how the process was back then, but I know they will take your first pay check, and they will reimburse your money after two weeks of work I think. They will also reimburse your money if the person you are working for decides to cancel the services. I have seen bad reviews about this company, I personally did not had any problems with this company. They will always have jobs available for me, and they help me out during hardship time. read more

ILLEGAL CENTRAL - AVOID THIS SERVICE we hired a nanny that had a ssn. We found out 5 years later that she didnt have a ssn and it was a counterfit after she had been "screened" by maria america. She ended up taking us to the labor boar even though she was an illegal and she won a $500 settlement for vacation time even though she was fired before her 1st year was up. Do not trust this agency. I had a bad experience with his agency which is not surprising given the other reviews. I called looking for a nanny for my baby and Patricia, the owner, was very professional and helpful initially. She recommended a couple of ladies and sent me their photographs. The process seemed very efficient. You go to their office and meet with the ladies who fit your criteria and conduct back to back interviews lasting about 10 minutes each. I chose a lady who seemed very nice and assumed that a thorough reference check had been done on her. The agency then asks that you pay them one weeks salary for the placement (the nanny works for free for the first week). The woman I chose started the following week and I started my own background check on her. A problem arose when she couldn't tell me where she had worked the last several years. She stated that "she didn't remember". When I told this to Maria America they said they would talk to her and I never received a follow up phone call. I ultimately had to let the nanny go after two days because I didn't feel like I could trust someone without knowing about their previous employment history. It was a red flag for me and something definitely felt off. Its disappointing that Patricia's professionalism disappeared after receiving my money. Basically I'm out a few hundred dollars since the nanny didn't work the entire week (and I spent two days home training her). I feel like this agency is a crapshoot. If you immediately get matched with a good nanny it might be worth it but you're playing the odds. If it doesn't work out you'll likely lose a portion of the first weeks salary and would have wasted your time. read more

Very unprofessional. I got in touch with a nanny called Martha we were sharing text and the last text I sent her was replaying her my daughters age and what I was expecting from her. Martha texted her boss (I guess) gossiping and telling her I never texted her back. And because of that she is looking for another job. Her boss texted me telling what Martha told her that Martha would be looking for someone else if I dont replay her and hire her soon. WTH??? How old is Martha? 15? 20160727: nanny file claim w/ labor commissioner. it ends up we have a settlement: double payment and liquidation damage for thousands dollars! beware nanny can sue employer for not being paid. the spanish translator told me she has done several cases related to Maria America. Some family fight till the end for a hearing while some gives up for settlement like us. Nanny always go after families as it is easier to get money. Nanny admit that after she gets our check. She still works for Maria America and next family still does not pay her first week wage w/ Maria America's instruction.(that means if she is not happy w/ that family, she can still go after that family for money) Keep away from these people!!! read more

This is a very unprofessional nanny service agency. The manager (Danny) recommended a nanny that we went with and prepaid for the week for (in cash as mandated by the manger). The nanny becomes unresponsive days before she has to start working. I notified the agency. The manger was responsive. I went in person to see him and he recommended another nanny who later said she can't come at the requested times that I needed. I notified the manager and he reassured me he'd follow up and that I was guaranteed the nanny service for the week. Even though I made multiple attempts to contact the agency, Danny (manager) did not follow up with me the agency never sent me a nanny. They also did not refund me my money and have been giving me the run around. It's been a terrible experience. i worked for this company and i will tell you, they dont do the background checks like they claim. several familysbwith children either got ripped off because the "nanny" didnt show up, and the is non refundable. I saw first hand families getting robbed from their so called background checked nannys and even cases of family reporting physical abuse of thei children by their nannys, MARIA AMERICA did nothing to resolve these issues, never refunded money, never payed back families for stolen item, never addressed the problem of physical abuse claimed by the familys. I only saw Patty and her husband care about the money and always told employees to take a message, but it didnt matter they were never there, Oh and by the way 99% of their employeed have fake documents, they hire illegals knowingly, I saw them first hand sending girls that just got to this country to go get fake documents.
