That's when we switched by recommendation to Dr. Lau who at the time admitted my 2 yr old to the hospital but ever since we began visiting Dr. Lau my kids rarely if ever get sick anymore. It seemed quite disappointing that each practice/person had similar feedback but no actual solutions. Some did not want to take my case only because it was not life threatening or what they considered as significant. So most of the times, I would get the brush off to not worry and call it a day... and as a parent, it is worrisome no matter the scale of the situation. On top of that, it was getting quite expensive to see various doctors. After months of frustration, I finally went to Dr. Lau in hopes for additional advice and recommendations. He was originally referred by a friend and I was expecting the same old feedback and whatnot. Plus he was not in my area so it was really not in the plans at all. To my surprise, I was SOOO GLAD we spoke; stars have a way of aligning themselves sometimes. It was a true blessing - he not only provided a different route to take, but he was so detailed with a lot of the topics that included explanations in 'easy-to-comprehend' terminology. It was impressive to hear of a medical professional being patient and giving in that way (especially these days, a lot of medical folks are trying to just hurry you out of the office, make a quick insurance buck and move on. Plus, they get all sarcastic because of how we try to look up stuff on Google, etc) . The real home run was his overall compassion in trying to be as detailed as possible, the time he took to provide the information and more importantly, they were REAL solutions. He added statistics/studies (yay for that) to back up his reasonings and he even gave samples to try out. Anyways, that just TOOK one conversation/one visit (even though it was lengthy, it was worth it). Furthermore, the specialists we were seeing had asked us to come back for follow-up visits (oh those darn co-pays were adding up!). At this time, all the other visits have ceased to but one - which is still good, by comparison. Results have been overall positive and coming along great...so very thankful for that. Moreover, in expressing gratitude towards him, I followed up with a quick note to tell him that things have improved. It was just an acknowledgment to him to keep up the good and compassionate work that he has been doing. Luckily I do not have to go back (and he was not even advocating it either) because I am not in the area anyways. Just want to put it out there to those who may feel hopeless, to just be optimistic and that something will always come up for the better. So amazing for us that it was Dr. Lau that we had encountered!

The tone is often irritated or short, which makes even simple scheduling questions feel uncomfortable. Please work on the front office staff and the people who answer the phone. There are PLENTY of people who would be happy to work at their capacity. I've also found that the bedside manner of the two doctors I've seen--Dr. Goldstein and Dr. Rosmarin--is severely lacking. Again, speaking only from my own interactions, they come across as unsympathetic and dismissive. Many times, it has even felt like I was being spoken to in a scolding or condescending way rather than being treated as a patient needing care. The remaining doctors are excellent. I dread to take my child knowing that one of the two are serving sick appointments. Yes, I could go else where but the remaining group is what has kept us there. I'm willing to wait to see any of them for a visit.

Dr. Ghavami has somehow figured out how to master his difficult calling -- approaching each of his patients with kindness, humor and a gentle but highly skilled hand. He has been our sons' pediatrician for almost 18 years and we never looked elsewhere. His diagnostics are spot on, and he and his wonderful staff (thank you Connie) are like family. In an era where quality medical care is hard to come by if you don't have lots of cash to throw around, and medical practice groups resemble a revolving door, it is refreshing to deal with a solo practitioner like Dr. Ghavami. He takes pride in his work and resists being gobbled up by large practice management conglomerates. This means that in this medical practice, you always see the same doctor and he remembers you and your children by name and takes his time solving your medical issues. Highly recommended!

Dr. Ghavami was so sweet and wanted to make sure we received everything we needed. He was thoughtful and respectful of my decisions as a mom. Then she called me back again to explain what happened, and I asked her if I could call her back since I was on the phone with my doctor. She didn't care and continued to keep talking twice because her time was more important than mine. I called her back only to be blamed yet again, and then received the following email today. I spoke with the doctor about our telephone conversation on Monday, September 21, 2020 and he feels that it is best not to see you as a patient in this office. We have cancelled your appointment and refunded your $50.00 deposit. The doctor doesn't even know my side of the story but cancelled this appt regardless. I also called to clarify these multiple appts I had in my calendar, and no one called me back in several days. It's a shame his receptionist treats patients with major health issues like this instead of treating them with compassion.
