After getting 4 quotes, and…read more4 different scopes of work (what they would and wouldn't do,) I decided on this company and for a number of reasons: Tanya came with a tonne of knowledge - from colour to paint to hardware, cost, and more. She was able to offer suggestions as to what would look good, and what would be economical for me. She was extremely thorough. As well, she showed genuine interest in making my kitchen beautiful. Another contractor (I'll call him Joe) told me to figure it all out myself, which I did not find helpful. He said he was not a decorator. Everything Tanya put together for me, verbally, or otherwise, was very detailed and easily understood. I had to ask Joe a few times to clarify what he meant, which made me uncomfortable. At that point, I felt suspicious because it was beginning to appear that he was only going to put doors on and anything after that was extra and would take me well beyond the original quote. (See below) There were no hidden fees or nickel-and-diming during this transaction. She was kind enough to throw in a few extras as well - something the other 3 companies would not do. In fact, Joe was not going to paint the frames of the cabinets, saying that once the new doors went on, you would not notice the old cruddy parts of the cabinets. Not so as they were very old and discoloured. As well, Joe did not plan to do anything with the panel at the end of the row of cabinets. He told me it would cost me $150 to return to do those measurements, and $350 to put a new standard cabinet-sized panel on the end. The staff at Kitchen Makeovers is stellar. They are a young group of people, all with an extraordinary work ethic. They are: Tanya, Nadia1, Scarlet, Hayley, Jonah, and Nadia2. I couldn't have asked for better. Even with the amount of staff attending, there was never any breakdown in communication. They all had a specific job to do and they did it. The staff were always on time, in spite of having to drive from the Valley. They were all very pleasant, helpful, and did meticulous work. Their clean-up was impeccable. In closing, I will say that out of all the contractors I've had in my place in the last 2 years, (and there were many,) this company, by far, out-performed all of them, in terms of honesty, efficiency, price, customer care, and integrity. We have a truly stunning kitchen and I credit Lyla with that. Our next project was renovating our two upstairs bathrooms. Then she helped me update our family room and then the downstairs powder room. She has helped me with projects ranging from $15,000 to well over $100,000. Lyla started by asking lots of questions to understand what we like and do not like to get a feel as to our vision. She provided us with a variety of options or directed us to various stores to look over products (i.e. fireplaces). She is very knowledgable about construction and knows whether something is "doable" or not. TL;DR version - True Colours Design Group provided INCORRECT measurements that cost a customer a…read moregreat deal of money (they were relied upon to order parts to measure for a kitchen renovation). When contacted about this this, True Colours Design Group SAID IT WAS THE CUSTOMER'S MISTAKE for not double checking information provided by True Colours' "professional" services. Detailed version: We hired True Colours Design Group to plan a kitchen redesign - using IKEA kitchen planning tools. True Colours was supposed to provide measurement details and help figure out the most functional kitchen design. After taking our money for this service, they provided a printout of plans and measurements, so we ordered cabinets from IKEA based on the provided measurements. Installation was delayed due to scheduling issues (when can we get the time off we need to strip the kitchen, etc) and health issues (one of us was dealing with medical issues that don't need to be outlined here). Everything remained in their boxes until then, and of course we had no reason to doubt measurements provided as part of a so-called professional design service from 'True Colours' On installation day, the professional installers came in and discovered the kitchen cabinets were too long to be practical (if installed, they would have been too close to the counter and stove). Because the installers were there and a reschedule would have left us without a kitchen for several weeks, we approved them cutting the cabinets down to size (at a cost). We contacted True Colours very shortly after, and their response all along has been to blame us - the customer - for not confirming the measurements were correct, and to question why we waited so long between the design and installation day. Their attitude when they make a mistake seems to be 'deny and deflect'. True Colours Design Group does NOT stand behind their work. I would NEVER hire them again, and I WOULD NOT recommend their services to anyone I know.

The date they gave us for installation was exact with no delays. In fact we were called the day before so that we would know when to expect them - morning or afternoon and an hour before they actually came they again called to let us know the time. We are very pleased with the results and best of all they were considerable cheaper than the other quotes for the exact same product. I will use them again when we replace the bathroom countertops. My only suggestion would be that they have a buzzer on the door so that when a customer enters their business they can hear it from their offices.
