I have my four closets installed by DCG based on the 5star ratings on yelp. During installation, I asked Cory the owner why two of my closets have edge moldings while three edge mouldings were missing in the other two closets.. Cory told me something like the wall is not straight and that is the best he could do. And also adding the rest of the mouldings would costs me more money. Now, after giving some thoughts about the matter, I think Cory did not bring enough edge mouldings to my house and he is too lazy to come back to complete the job. He figure that he can get away with these lies. Also, the manufacturing process is sloppy. The second picture shows that the particle board edge is exposed . In the email, Cory said that there will be 5 year warranty on the closet. I asked him about it, he said the invoice is the warranty. There is no warranty in the invoice. Now I look back at all the 5 star ratings on this company. It turns out that all of them are from before 2018 when the previous owners were in charge. This company under the new owner does not deserve a five star rating. It does sloppy manufacturing and installation job, try to finish the job as quickly as possible and does not treat it's customer correctly. You might be thinking: wow! Designer closets? She must have some big extravagant house and hundreds of pairs of shoes :) While the latter part of that statement is only a bit of an exaggeration, swimming in house, I am not. 2 people, living in just over 500 sq ft, and a cat, one of us working from home, plus an active life means we're full up of stuff. And, we only have 2 closets, so I have been determined to maximize space. But I've honestly been failing there. There's only so much you can do with labeled shoe boxes. Enter, the Designer Closet Guys. Yes, I was drawn into their google ads because of their name and the sleekness of their site. Even though I've been told that the price for these guys is far less expensive than the California Closets etc, it's still pretty steep, and I will admit, I was a little sticker shocked. I had my reasoning though. Consultation took an hour to measure, design and show what the closets would look like on some cool, 3D software where they could manipulate the materials used and provide a quote right on the spot. We knew exactly what we were getting. After taking my deposit, the turnaround time was only 2 weeks. To save on costs, we stripped the old closet out and painted beforehand. Arriving at 1030 on a Monday morning, they were in and out by 1. Judging by the time it took just to strip and paint, (and the fact that once it took 2 hours for two of us just to put up 3 little bathroom shelves), I was happy to pay for my lightening fast closets! And now, looking at my new closets, I'm over the moon! Everything that once lived inside, now has an actual home... and there's so many empty shelves that I don't even know what to put on them... guess it's time for more shoe shopping ;p read more

I found DESIGNER CLOSET GUYS on Yelp, sent an email right away and they answered me couple hours later. Okay, I have to be honest: as they told me, they are a small busy company and their schedule for an appointment is very tight and I was almost giving up because of that, but I decided to go ahead. Yay! Good decision. After 2 weeks, Brett came to see the space where I wanted to put my closet and a media center. He measured everything, gave some ideas of colors, style etc. He was really nice and helpful! Couple days later, he sent me some more ideas by email... the closet? Love it! Good price for the service too. The media center? Unfortunately, He didn't have the color I wanted and he couldn't do some fancy stuff that I was planning. Anyways, I decided to go ahead just with the closet and think more about the media center later. He scheduled the installation for around 3 weeks later. Pretty fast comparing with the time that other companies gave me. Brett and Jamie came on right time and installed everything beautiful and carefully. And it looks much better than I expected! We recently had the closet guys come to our townhome and provide us with some options for both our master and second bedroom closets. They provided some interesting options for us and once we decided on one that we liked, the Closet guys took care of providing all the details before providing a quote. We went ahead and they placed the order. A couple weeks later, and they drove out our new closet hardware to us, carried it inside and got to work. Within a matter of a few hours, both of our new closets were installed and we are absolutely thrilled with them. They have completely changed the functionality of our closets and ultimately help to increase the value of our home. With these new closets we no longer have any need to use a dresser in our bedroom, freeing up space and keeping all of our clothes in one place. The quality of the install is very obvious.. the shelves are all hung solidly on the wall, and are great in their construction. Many of the shelves are customizable in their positions, allowing for thicker or narrower shelves. They also have the top of the shelf walls angled in so that its easier to place larger items on top shelves. Very smart, and very handy. I would recommend the Closet guys to anyone looking for great closet organizers.. No need to check quotes on their competition, because from those past reviews of other consumers, I know I have come to the right company. I remember some 20 years ago I have helped my Mom to contract California Closets to install shelves and drawers etc. in her walk-in closet and back then a pretty penny has been paid and this time, I need the revamping of all the shelves, rods in all the closets in our 2 bedrooms condo unit. Brett and his helper, James were most professional and helpful. The end result was I was most happy with the new, sturdy rods and shelves....They look good too! For that much of work, I think the price was very reasonable....since the brother company manufactures the shelves and rods, so we benefit from their saving of costs too. Brett was most helpful that he would willingly offer his extra time and efforts in helping me install a hook on my bathroom door, which is hollow....not that easy to do. I was most grateful for this additional little bit of work that is not totally in his scope of service of providing closet shelves. My experience with this company was nothing short of outstanding. Brett agreed to come around and give me a quote. He arrived punctually, consulted with me on various options, and took careful measurements. Exactly 3 weeks later he returned to do the assembly and installation himself. I am thrilled with the result! My custom wardrobe armoire fits the space beautifully, the drawers glide smoothly, the 2 doors open into an area generous enough to house full-length coats. Best of all, this piece of furniture looks amazing. Custom-made furniture is never cheap, but the quality is worth every penny. Brett is extremely professional, with a very good eye for excellent design. He is also polite and friendly. He arranged for deposit and final payment to be made through his administrator in the office and all that went very smoothly too. I worked with Brett who provided me with a suggested plan, revised it a number of times to accommodate my requirements and then installed the cabinets and drawers in my in-suite storage room. Throughout Brett was professional and very knowledgable. He knew how cabinets would fit into my somewhat awkward space. I would never have figured out how to configure the room. He has a huge advantage over the franchisee closet people I've dealt with in the past who only had prescribed sizes and configurations and were not real designers of storage space. Having decided to upgrade my Master Bedroom Closet, I was shopping around for Closet Companies and came across the Designer Closet Guys. I scheduled an appointment and Cory came within a week to give me a free consultation. Cory arrived on time and went straight to work sizing up my closet with lasers and other high tech gadgets which I knew nothing about. He started doing some strange stuff on his laptop while I waited, and before I knew it - he turned the laptop to show me the cool design he had drawn up! We made a few adjustments upon review; an in built laundry hamper, a jewelry drawer for me, some more shelves for my husbands and then he showed me the price. Now - By this point, I'd already had two other design companies in to provide me with consultations. Both companies took measurements with measuring tape and hand drew the closet design while I waited. This took FAR longer than the Designer Closet Guys and was obviously not nearly as high tech. With all this in mind, I was expecting the Designer Closet Guys quote to be through the roof..... well, I was blown away when the total quote for the built in closet was actually more reasonable than the other quotes I had received!! I booked them immediately and 3 weeks later Cory came by to install my new closet. By the time I came home from work, my new closet was installed. WOW. It has exceeded all expectations - it literally is brilliant, such good quality and a fabulous design. I put all my clothes back into the closet and the available space has almost doubled. It's amazing. Can you imagine how luxurious it is to go to work and come home to a brand new closet? I'm so fancy :) I cannot recommend their services highly enough. The hardest part of dealing with the DCG's was booking an initial assessment because they are so busy! We had the Designer Closet Guys install two closets. One closet at a corner we had difficulty knowing how to use the space. Their brilliant design fixed that problem! Our closets are beautiful and very functional now. They came on the days and at the time they said they would to measure, and install. Within 48 hours of meeting them and measuring our closets they had a design proposal for us to evaluate. Both closets had a design on what we wanted. For custom closets they cannot be beat. They do not sell or install sliding glass doors but they gave great advice where to get them - and we followed their advice and even got a discount from another contractor. We are going to use then again in the fall after all our summer guests to finish the remaining closets. A great Canadian company. They should be awarded 10 stars on the five star scale. read more

My husband and I hired Designer Closet Guys to install a built-in Office Space in a small den area in our townhouse. We were originally going to go with California Closets as we had them build a wardrobe for us in our spare bedroom that we were extremely happy with. However, California Closets is ridiculously expensive and we were looking for a more budget conscious option. It did take awhile to be able to get a consultation date as they are a very small company, but when Brett did come he was very personable, professional and had great ideas. It also took awhile for the installation and the date unfortunately got moved forward a couple of times as we had to wait in order to get the material that we wanted. This did cause a problem with the electrical wiring as we also had an electrician involved to do some re-wiring for lights within our design. However, overall we were very happy with the end product. The installation took the exact amount of time that we were quoted and their work is of high quality. Definitely well worth the money and at a very reasonable price. They are slightly limited to variety and different options that they can do in comparison to California Closets, but this is due to the fact that they are a small family-owned company. It was a pleasure dealing with Brett and his brother Chris and if we ever have more custom jobs in the future we will be sure to use Designer Closet Guys again, as well as recommend them to others. Who knew having custom closets would be such a game changer. When we took possession of our new home we knew the standard wire racks so after doing some research I contact Designer Closet Guys and Brett came by to consult. The consultation process was smooth, he had designs and plans done within 24 hours and the timeline to custom make and come back to install were only about 2.5 weeks out which is way more then amazing. The install process was smooth and we're really happy with the final product. Brett who is one of the owners does the consultation himself and even installs himself so you know the level of integrity. Would consider Brett for another project once we figure out if we need more space. If I had to nick pick it would be that although the website does have images of diff styles of knobs, handles etc etc that it would be great if they brought samples of those with them as well as going into further detail of what customization there might be i.e. soft close drawers? I wish we had soft close but we never asked and it was never offered, not laying blame here though we're still very happy and would use them again in a heart beat. read more
