My wife & I booked an airbnb in Springfield and came here for dinner after we arrived. Can't recommend the food more highly. I had an al pastor burrito and my wife had a steak quesadilla - the extra cheesy version. It was a lovely day, we sat out back and every bite was sooo delicious, fresh and full of flavor. Our only regret was that we didn't come back for a lobster roll -- I can only imagine how good it could have been. Tucked away in a parking lot, lies Maria's Mexican Food. I winged it by getting 1 taco, which was good and devoured in 1 bite. One set of sour cream, guac and salsa was enough for the taco and Sincronizada. Sinconizada was very filling. The best way to describe it is like a Mexican fluffernutter, except with lots of cheese. They deserve 100 stars. SO GOOD. The burritos are delicious, made to order, and tasted so fresh. The very first time we visited, the person who took our order was patient, kind, friendly, and so welcoming. He answered all of our questions, talked us through the different hot sauces and vegetarian options, and was so patient and warm even though it was 20 minutes to close. Food and service was really good. If we were from the area we would come here often. Everyone on staff was cheerful and engaging, answered our questions, and made valued suggestions. Though billing itself primarily as a Mexican food base, I had an Italian dish that was one of the better ones I've had of that type. And the portions were more than sufficient. 4.5 stars. A small retro taco shack provide a decent Mexican delight. I had small tacos and burrito. Taco size is very typical a few bite size but comes with a full of topping. The taste of tacos were very flavorful and consistent. i'm sure you will love these. Only improvement I must write here is that both chicken and beef tacos lacked juiciness. So the tasty Salsa comes in a container helped that a bit. I ate after lunch time but not that late. If those meats are tender and juicy, i'd give full five star. Briton's rice was rather wet and mushy, this is my personal preference and prefer to have each rice is individual but fluffy and flavorful. Outside was cold when I stopped by and the cashier was delivering the food to each car. That was a nice touch. I was worried about high rating by only 13 views but i highly recommend this place for lunch or dinner. read more

Food was delicious! Unfortunately we waited almost an hour for 4 tacos. Seriously. Almost an hour for four tacos. Didn't realize we got there right after a couple huge parties. The picnic area setup makes it difficult to determine who is there for each small business. We understand that small kitchens that make food fresh can get overwhelmed, but no one warned us. When you place your order, I recommend that you ask how many are ahead of you. The tacos were good, although I agree with another reviewer that the chicken was a little dry. Preferred the al pastor. Saw this place on one of the Okemo facebook groups and finally had a chance to stop with the family. I never write reviews unless the food is exceptional or terrible. This was so good it was worth the effort. We had a combination of steak and chicken Burritos and a few different tacos. I'll start by saying I'm a bit of a taco snob so it's hard to find good and authentic Mexican. Burritos are huge and both the steak and chicken was delicious. Steak was very tender and no fatty, chewy pieces. Which my kids will always complain about. For the tacos we got the Al pastor, chorizo, and steak and they were all super good and packed full of meat. The key to taco authenticity is CORN soft shell tortillas and loads of cilantro. If either are missing, you might as well be at Taco Bell. Finally I called in advance and everything was ready right as I arrived which was nice to not have to wait. Guy taking the order was very pleasant and we had a special request on almost everything and he nailed it all. This place is a must go. 10 out of 10 across the board. I can't tell you enough how great this establishment is. Miguel was so nice and accommodating. I planned a birthday party for around 20 guests and Miguel walked me through the menu and his recommendations. His family was so genuine when preparing my food. If you want authentic Mexican, this is the place. The chicken and El Pastor tacos with the homemade corn tortillas had all the flavor combinations. The tortas with chicken milanesas were so big, I had to quarter it for the guests and delish. Not a stone left unturned. I highly recommend Maria's to get your Mexican fix. read more

The food was absolutely amazing and perhaps the best we've had in awhile (we ordered the chorizo and potato, al pastor, and steak tacos + an al pastor burrito) - high praise from two people from California and living in New York. Tiny shack that's hard to spot, but don't let that fool you. The food was really good. We tried both the chorizo and the al pastor and they were both fantastic. A real surprise to find food this good in this area. They have a small covered patio area in the back with some picnic tables, so we didn't have to eat in the car. I can't say enough good things about this incredible authentic family owned and run Mexican food shack, right off of Route 103 as you enter into Chester from I91. The owners are awesome and fun to chat with while you wait for your homemade meal from scratch. And Maria's Hot Sauce should be bottled and sold nationwide ... its perfect, just the right amount of heat. Their Taco's (handmade soft corn/flour tortillas) are the best, simple, tasty, and perfect snacking, lunch or dinner takeaway, though, they have this incredible outside seating in the back porch area, I can see the possibility of a fire pit in the back during the fall and winter months.
