View of the truck from our picnic table

Very convenient on our way to an Airbnb in Ferrisburgh, VT. My husband, stepson and I stopped for a quick lunch at the recommendation of my sister and her husband. They love the place and now so do we!! I got a chicken burrito which was huge and delicious, my husband got the chicken taco salad and my stepson got his standard quesadilla. All were freshly prepared and delicious! Wish I thought to take food pics but I guess we were more interested in eating it!! :) The young ladies taking care of us were very friendly and quick to put our order together. Smart setup too with order and pick up windows. Beautiful open country views with a few picnic tables to sit. Very good and highly recommended!

Such an odd location for a taco stand, but good food and great prices. The view is beautiful!

There are so many interesting Latin/Caribbean fusion dishes. We started with the plantain cups filled with chicken sofrito and pineapple salsa- yum. We also got the rolls, which came with a cilantro olive oil that was very tasty. They were good, but not sure I would get these again- they were a bit pricey for two rolls with olive oil. For our mains, I went with the classic arroz con pollo, which was so good, just the perfect comfort food. My companion got the guava-glazed pork shank, which was incredible- I don't think I have ever seen anything similar on another menu! The cocktail menu also had a lot of fun options- I got the guava martini, which was excellent. It is a bit difficult to make a reservation- you can only call or email- but it does seem like the type of place you could probably get a table if you walk in, and we got a response almost immediately after emailing to request a table. I'd definitely visit again if I was in town!

A Cuban food restaurant run by Cubans with excellent flavor, superb service with a little Cuban…read moresalsa flair, and unique servings which reminded me of my country of birth. We had a wonderful experience with family. For starters, the restaurant doesn't face Lebanon Street, but you enter Currier Place and the restaurant is on the ground floor of the rear of the building. They do take reservations, and use Toast as their service, or one can make them directly on the restaurant's website (still using Toast as a platform). Our reservation was honored on the spot, and we were seated near a window with full view of the restaurant ongoings. Our server was from "Villa Clara", a Castro rename from the centuries old Santa Clara province and provincial capital city. And of course I had to avail myself of their excellent Mojitos. Hors d'oeuvres quickly followed and they had just made a batch of Croquetas de Jamón which lasted seconds. Then the Yuca Frita, and the Empanadas de Carne. Cuban empanadas are unique and quite different from Chilean or Argentine ones, seasoned differently. One Mojito led into a delicious Margarita and the entree order. My spouse ordered the Ropa Vieja, a monumental seasoned and shredded meat that came with the ubiquitous Congrí a black bean-colored rice dish. I had the Masitas de Puerco, the marinated pork morsels in a sofrito sauce heavy on the garlic. Ohhhhhh yes.... A dish that I hadn't had since 1967 when I left Cuba as a child. I added a ration of tostones which came unstuffed just as I wanted them. Dessert was the Arroz con Leche, and this one was genuine, and the Pan de Calatrava, a custard-type rice dessert that made our mouths water.... A supperb evening and a promise to return to this wonderful place.

We had just arrived to town from a 10 hour trip to meet up with a friend and weren't really that hungry. No problem! They set us up with drinks and told us to make ourselves at home. The inside was nice and cozy but we chose to sit outside on the patio where the lit up lights on the umbrella for us which was a nice touch. After about an hour, we ordered several plates of food to share and it was all delicious. Ernesto took care of us along with another delightful woman. They really seemed to understand the concept of hospitality. We will definitely be back to this place. I can see why so many others have this place 5 stars. They deserve it!

So while no Bobby Flay, I think they met their goal, hence the five stars. I had some excellent flank steak. Chips and salsa were really fresh and good, although it was more of a pico de gallo and so a little messy. We had the charbroiled jalapeños to start in. Those are pretty good. My daughter had the grilled chicken, Caesar, and enjoyed it. Overall, the atmosphere was a little fine dining, but still pretty chill. There was enough interesting Options on the menu that I would go back in the area.

We asked up front if they split the bill individually, they do not, but we were prepared with our own plan, so I encourage you to do the same. The Bullhouse was nice inside, a casual eatery with a Mexican leaning flare. Everything was enjoyable and everyone was happy with their drinks, appetizers and meals. They have a small vegan menu, which could be better, but our one friend was very happy to see that they had one at all. Service was smooth and the place had a nice energy. We were thankful for them taking good care of us and hosting our group. If you're in Chestertown it's an easy recommendation to make. Enjoy!

I've eaten…read moreOaxacan in San Antonio, off the backs of taco trucks in San Diego, and in straw thatched huts all across Mexico. There's no way I'm finding decent Mexican in northern Vermont, right? Well, ok, there's one for sure: Trail Break in White River Junction. But it's a Wednesday, and they're closed. Besides, we were just in Burlington, and the nearest city on our route is Montpelier. Ok, what's what around here? Cute little city. Cool buildings. And hey, there's a place called Mad Taco. Let's give that a try. The logo is John Tenniel's timeless portrait of the Mad Hatter, with added tacos on his plates. Nice touch, and I almost missed it. And now I have Grace Potter's cover of White Rabbit stuck in my brain... "Feed your head!!" Grace Potter is from around here, no? I bet she eats here when she isn't basking in Rock Stardomness. Wife and I ordered burritos, hers was carnitas, mine al pastor. We also put in for chips with guacamole. A simple dinner fare to be eaten in the front seat of our car before we start putting on more miles on our way back to Western Mass. The guy behind the counter was super cool, and helpful too. Food only took about 10 minutes or so. He set us up with everything we needed to eat take out, and I snagged a little to go cup of mild cilantro sauce (#3 on the spicy scale, not super hot) The burritos were both enormous and delicious. (Interruption from the future, I've been eating the leftovers for 2 days. Still good, nom nom nom.) My only hint of "c'mon Vermont, you can do better" was the guacamole. While the chips were astounding (lightly salted, hand fried tortilla rounds you break apart yourself, crispy perfection.) Their guacamole was just, "meh." It was mostly just squished avocado. I don't think it had any salt, lime, garlic, or anything else in it. There was a lot of it for the price we paid, but very plain. I'm not sure if that's to cater to local tastes? Like are the regulars afraid of a little jalapeno? Hard to know. If it's me, I'm punching it up with a touch of adobo, just a little hot sauce, maybe a squeeze of lime, some salsa? Your mileage may vary. That said, I don't feel the guacamole is more than a half star drop, and I always round up. Have I gone mad? Completely bonkers. But I'll tell you a secret. All the best taco joints are... Mad Taco, I give you a mercurial 5 stars! Well done.
