I am very DEMANDING and will write it the way I see it..Today I went to Maricamp Animal Hospital to have a 'WELLNESS CHECK' for my 2- 5 year old "Shorkies". I am retired and live on a budget so was CONSCIOUS of costs ... they were very careful with me and offered me different services and told me which each would cost WITHOUT MAKING ME FEEL I needed to spend a FORTUNE. They LOVINGLY took my fur babies from me and came back after a while and said "they are PERFECT". They were so excited to let me know that and I am so EXCITED that my babies are HEALTHY... It is important for me to remember my duties as an owner...catching an illness BEFORE it goes too far is SMART...and also these folks are AVAILABLE year round so we came up with a plan for them...to keep them PERFECT. We went over heart-worm medication, flea control and I was PROUD that they looked so HEALTHY as they get TONS of exercise: chasing squirrels at Lettie Towles DOGPARK 5x week and our 2 mile walk EVERYDAY. I was concerned that Abbey might have an ear problem...but we DETERMINED she just liked to get EAR RUBBIES...LOL I have the utmost confidence in Maricamp Animal Hospital. 5 1/2 years ago I lost my beloved Shih-tzu "bunni" to congestive heart failure and went to at least a DOZEN different vets trying to get the best treatment. Maricamp was the ONLY PLACE I found that knew about Vetmedin, (Pimobendan) Pimobendan is used in the management of heart failure in dogs, most commonly caused by myxomatous mitral valve disease, or dilated cardiomyopathy...NONE of the other clinics recommended this and it is proven to lengthen the life of dogs like my beloved "bunni"..we got her on it and she lived for another year and I felt I had done EVERYTHING for her I could possibly do. So how do I rate Maricamp????....PERFECT.

I would recommend Maricamp animal clinic for you cat or dog. Both Dr. Otero and Dr. O'Brian have shown always care and total professionalism. What's most important for me, I reflect when choosing a Doctor is, how I feel with the Doctors. So I do the same with my pets. They're comfortable with the Doctors and the staff. There care and follow ups are exceptional. Although, I have been told they're pricey, you get what you pay for. My expense is well invested with them and my pets. Thank you Dr.Otero and Dr.O'Brian.. Hope to continue to write these posts and more.

We were taken in exactly on time and the staff was upfront about all of the costs for each test and the exam.

Dr Otero and the entire staff were wonderful, and we have since switched to Maricamp for primary veterinary care.

He did not hesitate and quickly administered a full transfusion from his own personal canine to mine. This absolutely saved her life and I continue to be grateful for his job well done. Since then another one of my furry friends has periodically seen Dr. Nelson. When he handles this small canine he does so ever so gently & tenderly. On occasion he has even cradled her. You can see the passion in his eyes. Giving an exam means a full & total exam like I have never seen from any other clinic. Though their pricing is slightly higher than some others it is worth it to know they're receiving the best care possible. I would highly recommend this long time clinic to anyone.

We explained everything that had happened and provided the veterinary team with all the details about his condition. When we arrived, my dog was able to walk normally, including from the parking lot into the clinic. After examining him, the veterinary team gave him an injection for pain relief. They then told us they wanted to sedate him because he was difficult to keep still during a spinal examination and X-rays. We also informed them that our dog had consumed a large amount of water before the examination. We were instructed to return around 4:00 p.m. to pick him up. When we returned, our dog's condition had changed dramatically. He was completely paralyzed, and his eyes were severely swollen and bright red. I immediately asked the veterinary assistant why he looked like that. I was told that he had become stressed during the sedation and X-ray process. The following morning, at approximately 9:00 a.m., we returned to the clinic and asked to speak with Dr. Southwell. He also questioned why our dog's eyes were so red, even though I had already raised that concern. He administered fluids and a Diazepam injection before sending us home. Around 11:00 p.m. that same night, our dog's condition continued to worsen, so we rushed him to the University of Florida Emergency Veterinary Hospital. The emergency veterinarian examined him and expressed serious concern about his neurological condition. What I cannot understand is why CareVet at Skylark never informed us that something serious may have occurred during the sedation or recovery process, or that his condition required immediate emergency neurological evaluation. Instead, we only learned how critical his condition was after taking him to another veterinary hospital. Those first hours were incredibly important, and I will always wonder whether earlier recognition, communication, and referral could have made a difference. My dog walked into the clinic that morning. He left the same day completely paralyzed and fighting for his life. Despite every effort by the emergency team to save him, he passed away in the early morning of July 18, 2026. My French Bulldog was only 2 years and 9 months old. He had never been seriously ill and was always a happy, loving, and playful dog. He brought so much joy to our lives, and we are heartbroken by his loss. This was one of the most painful experiences my family has ever endured. Based on what we experienced, I cannot recommend this clinic. I hope no other family has to go through what we did. Rest in peace, my little angel. You will always be loved, forever missed, and never forgotten.
