A decade of decadence it has truly been for my long residency in beautiful Las Vegas. Now being pulled back to the past by the priorities that still exist here. I arrive on the steps of the court house here in Phoenix, AZ. I shall rise from these flames and it will not pull be into a void. This city was named after the Phoenix, whom shall continue to rise above all her turmoil, no matter what the circumstances. She seeks blind swift justice, for if not don't make her angry. This court house is truly a marvel of architecture. The Greek and Roman influences are incredibly preserved while justice is given blow by blow. The halls as you walk are huge and echo like those of an old school house. In all the days dealings of court proceedings, those tapping of ladies heels on the tile that echo are a deafening silence that soothes me. For I face the shadows of my past. I never thought that these forces would try and injure me. Is justice truly blind? It's a yeah or neigh truly. It's whatever someone behind the bench renders true or for you in any circumstances truly. I'm not here for blame or pressing blame, but when you drag a widow to court because "she" had ultimate authority over her departed husband that's going too far. Then again, Subpoena her to court. This is what our justice looks like here, vengeance. Only way to fight that is with a "lawyer." Then we wait to see our day in court. See you there. Security, and more security, wow being from Vegas their is so much secrets in security everywhere. Here in Phoenix it's a show of force with security. There are no secrets or veils to what the security looks like here. Maybe because it's the "old west," still. At least we are safe and no would, I Hope ever try and mess with security measures here in Phoenix. It's the Wild Wild West here and they wear it like a badge of honor. The security are truly noble and very professional. They do not have that power twinkle in their eyes. They know their job and expect you to follow the rules unconditionally. This is their domain and once you realize that then we will get along just fine. All in all with all the security here, these days one cannot be too careful. While making my way through the halls of justice I am overwhelmed by the feelings here. To be back after a decade away. The last time I was in the presence of these halls was to pay a traffic ticket, since at one time I liked to drive fast. The layout of the court house in 10 years has gotten a face lift. The buildings color outside is so welcoming. One would just consider it another government building. It's not. This is where justice is rendered. Where dreams are made and broken all in an afternoon? Don't come to court hungry! It will cost you a small fortune to fill your tummy. I am one that needs to have a small bite in the morning, even if it's a banana. Coffee does not count as food. The procuring of food inside the courthouse is weak, but that hotdog vendor outside has it going on. One cannot bring outside food and snacks into the court house, unless you have small children. Gum, mints, and a bottle of water you can get away with. The small cafe inside of the court does sell coffee. Omg, bring on the happy with another cup of my sanity, before the circus starts. The prices are not steep for me, since the strip Starbucks are cheaper than here. But it's still outrageous. How much for that cup of coffee? Five dollars, good lord that's a lot of money. Save your money and buy a hotdog to celebrate your victory dance as you leave court. Plus with the hotdog vendor your supporting local businesses and our fellow humans doing what they love. As the gavel bangs a close for me, the decision is all for my favor. I wish only happiness and joy to all whom are miserable though. Maybe through someone else's joy will they find what they are seeking. The judge was fair and amazing. She ruled in a fair way. She used the law to make her decisions and left bias out. There is not place for opinions and bias in the law. Even though these exist my experience was positive here today in the halls of justice. Let's strive to love one another even in the forces of massive opposition and oppression. We have to rise above and be excellent beyond ourselves. It is only when we live above the crowd that we may help those struggling and guide them from the fire and flames to the light of the rainbow. read more

They rejected my friend's request to not go to jury duty, she has metastatic breast cancer stage IV. She downloaded a letter from her cancer doctor dated in 2023 when they wanted her to do jury duty then.How does that make sense? They're not smart enough to know that someone who has stage IV cancer should be permanently dismissed. And she's also 78 years old. Really Maricopa? read more

I have never been in trouble with the law and I'm involved in a child custody case to protect my child.They sent me a minute entry stating that my telephonic hearing was denied and I would have to appear in person. Then they sent me a hearing that says it's by video and I submitted another telephonic hearing request to be sure. Mind you it's one day before my hearing and 3 hours before I have to get on a plane that I didn't have the money to spend on a ticket to begin with. I spoke with judge Russel's secretary Maria Lopez her customer service is trash to say the least, she does not know how to clarify and hung up on me twice then wouldn't answer my call. I just wanted to ask if I join by court connect since they sent me 2 emails or Microsoft teams? Eventually I got an e-mail response stating it's the same thing. She honestly needs to be fired or take a course on how to talk to people and do her job correctly. read more

Be sure to call ahead if you come down to West Court Building to get fingerprinted. Every website will say they close at 5 PM but really they close when they want to stop working. And it depends if it's court ordered or if you're paying to have them done. If you pay to have them done they'll let you in, but if it's ordered, they'll decide when they're closed or not and send you away. Yes, this is as good as it gets because it is what it is and they make the call. I have had my fair experience with this place. The law library is definitely resourceful when attempting to seek information for different cases. Keeping in mind that the staff are not lawyers and cannot grant legal advice. So, when you're looking for information be specific about what you need. Perhaps you're looking for information about child custody, if you ask for them to assist in locating information on child custody cases that are similar to yours they can help you find it. Be aware if you ask them what you need to do, they will tell you that they cannot help you. They seem to have made the overall process of filing a lot easier. It's been many years since I've visited and I really like the number system in the filing area. I've been in twice within the past few months and both times it was very quick compared to 2009 when you simply sat and waited. I think they've added more counters as well which helps. So, does one want to go spend the day down at the Courthouse? Not likely but it's not too bad. They keep it clean, they keep it safe, and there are numerous resources available within, what else would one need? read more

Horrible experience. I had to do a couple of routine document filings at this courthouse and I have to say the experience is just really really bad. For the second I walk into the courthouse I was treated extremely poorly. When you walk in here it's like walking into a fascist regime. Metal detectors and cops looking up and down at you like you're some kind of criminal. From time to time I do have to go down here and it's always an experience I never look forward to. Bottom line is it's a really depressing and negative place and I would not suggest that anybody who doesn't have to deal with this courthouse ever spend a second here. read more

Someone steals from you, significant amount, here is where you go to get it back. They can afford a lawyer, they of course have all your money. Take a wild guess who wins. NO resources... court people: "can't give legal advice." Law needs to catch up with medicine. Picture the equivalence. You bring grandma in to ER because she can't breathe from covid. They give you a ventilator, and say "We can't tell you how to use it because that would be giving you medical advice. And by the way, you filled out paperwork incorrectly so grandmother can't be here, you need to take her home." Codependent - they don't just enable bad guys, they need them in order to feel superior (and get paid!). No wonder there are so many bad guys. I don't guess the world will get better during my lifetime. read more

Update: Back in June 2020, I was supposed to have jury duty 2 months after giving birth and my husband had to drop me off with my newborn in the car and when I went to the juror room on the first floor of the south tower, the rude lady told me it was cancelled. I never got an email or phone call to inform me. But I sure as hell got emails telling me I must attend. They didn't forget to send those. I sighed heavily out of frustration once she informed me (as I had just been dropped off by my husband who had our baby and now I had to call him back to pick me up). As a former employee, I knew that arguing with her was pointless as none of the employees actual care. As I stood there for a second in frustration, she completely ignored me and pretended to look busy. Fortunately, due to covid it was permanently cancelled and I never had to go back. But this is just one of the many examples people have to go through when they go to court. read more

Jury duty appearance and have to say that it was not bad at all. The waiting area was huge, like airport huge and there were televisions everywhere to watch. Now if I could just schedule my next jury duty when there is a game on, that would be great. There were vending machines and free coffee and cookies, but snacks were gone quickly. Staff was very informative and kept everyone updated throughout. They may have been a little too informative for my liking and at times I got tired of hearing the same message over and over again. Par for the course I guess. Overall though, not bad. read more

First time here this week. There was a little confusion on my part regarding parking and they refused to validate the parking ticket so I ended up having to pay $12 for it, which is hard for me given my current financial situation. I was also rather eager to be selected for a jury as I have never been on a jury before even after having been registered to vote since I was 18 and having a valid drivers license before. This is the 6th time I have been summoned by an Arizona court. 3 of them got dismissed before I had to go in, twice (including this time) I pretty much just sat in the waiting room until they dismissed us, and only once I made it to jury selection but I was one of those dismissed. I found that a bit disappointing though I realize it's really not anyone's fault. It'd be nice if they had something entertaining on TV and sound like they do in the Pima County Court system...Last time I was called in I got to watch 50 First Dates which was amusing and helped make the time fly by a bit faster and lessened the blow of having to sit around all day. read more

The clerks are very rude and lack compassion and understanding that the reason you are filing court documents is your first time so the process is very unfamiliar to you....therefore their patients is needed and willingness to help you w/ the reason you're even there is there job & would greatly be appreciated. I've been rushed at the clerk desk asking questions, to just be over talked by them so I could get out there non-busy line and I have been hung up on a few times. After saying hello, I started asking a question but just after a few words the clerk disrespectfully interrupting me and said, "What is your question," I said, "I was just asking it now when I was talking" the clerk just hung up on me. read more

I was there last week for jury duty. Regardless of how happy the people on the videos look, it still sucks. The waiting area is extremely large with comfortable seating and tv monitors everywhere. Bring a book, music, snacks and settle in for what could be a long day. read more

Careful of who get assigned to your case. I filed for a divorce back in Oct 2013, no attorneys, and my soon to be ex agreed to everything, he didn't even respond. I waited the amount of time and filed all paper work according to the courts schedule, noting that if I didn't it would be rejected. They also stated on the self-serve website that "it may take as long as 2-4 weeks" for a judge to sign off on the divorce decree after requesting a default divorce decree without a hearing. Waited the specified amount of time (4 weeks to check on the status). At 4 weeks and 1 day I called for a status and was told that she (the assistant in the office, and the one who answers the phone) the paperwork could not be found although they show my case on the docket. I was told to call back in a the following Monday to get the status (the call was on a Tuesday) No one bothered to find the paperwork until I called (good enough for government work). I called the following Monday and was told to call Wednesday for the status, called today Wednesday and was told it is before the "commissioner" for review and she would "get to it when she got to it". Again good enough for government work. When I pressed for why it had not been looked at I was told the "commissioner" wanted to have her holiday season. When I told her that I had filed December 9th and that was way before Christmas reminding her of Maricopa Superior Counts own web site and what they are telling people (2-4 weeks) she went silent. When I stated I felt they were being very caviler with my life, she giggled and went silent again. I told her I would go to a higher authority to get some answers. I was told I could schedule a hearing if I wanted and it would be 2 weeks out but I had to pull the paperwork from the "commissioner" to be able to schedule the hearing, (the guy also said that the "commissioner" had 60 days to rule on the case, if I did the math correct 60 days = 8.5 weeks, kinds longer than the "2-4 weeks the site states.) when I called to pull the paper work the same woman told me I could not, that I had to wait for the "commissioner" to rule on the case. When I told her I could get a hearing within 2 weeks she said that the "commissioner" would rule by then....waiting......waiting. BTW The Commissioner name is Brame, but I am sure they all work in the same manner. read more
