On top of the native soil in the backyard, they laid down a few sheets of thick black plastic. On top of that plastic sheeting, they laid down 3" - 6" of brown gravel. I contacted a couple contractors and hauling companies who wanted anywhere from $900 to $2,800 to remove the gravel + a dump fee. F that! Now that my wife and I came to the conclusion that we not only don't have $2,800 lying around at our disposal but even if we did - we certainly wouldn't be paying someone else to haul out this gravel for us. So... now that we decided we were going to commit ourselves to this kind of manual labor - where in the hell are we gonna dump all this fricken gravel?! I called the City of Peoria who suggested I call the City of Glendale and talk to their landfill. So I called their landfill and the ady who answered said - we could take it for you, but why not go to Dirt 101? It's closer to you AND it's cheaper! Dirt 101, you say? ...never heard of 'em. So I looked them up and called their number. The nice woman who answered said - of course we'll take it! $15 for as much as you can squeeze into the bed of your truck! SOLD! So my wife and I put ourselves through the ringer and loaded up these totes by hand in the backyard. Since we don't have a small bobcat or skid steer, that meant shoveling each tote and hauling it out to the truck... by hand. ughhhh. Needless to say, it has been a long morning. Fast forward....so Dirt 101 is conveniently located right on Northern Ave. just a couple of miles off the 101. You can't miss it. There is a large sign right at the gated entrance that says DIRT 101. It's also more or less across the street from the landfill / recycling area. So, you pull up to the entrance, cough up your 15 bucks and the woman points you were to go. I owe them an enormous apology because I misinterpreted her first set of directions for me. I ended up dumping the first load near the concrete section much sooner than Area # 1 as I was told. Ughhh... sorry everyone! So we repeated the process and headed out for our second load when a nice gentleman saw us and corrected us. It is sort of confusing as you're essentially surrounded by piles of dirt, asphalt, gravel and concrete. So once he showed me where we SHOULD be dumping our load of gravel - we were on the straight and narrow. So to everyone at Dirt 101 - I apologize for dumping my first load in the incorrect area! We are about a third of the way done and will definitely be back to Dirt 101. I would highly highly highly recommend them for all your material recycling needs. DO NOT dump your shit out in our deserts!! DO NOT destroy the native habitats! Dirt 101 is an awesome business with friendly people who will gladly take your materials for a nominal fee. I would not hesitate to recommend them to my family, friends or fellow Yelp'ers!

We unfortunately couldn't reach anyone by phone but ended up driving by to be sure they were open. They have options for smaller waste or larger waste but it's all easy to use. $45 for up to 1500 pounds. They do require you have a hard hat and vest if in the large waste area but you can buy them on site.

Come Monday no show of the Waste Management truck. OK just leave it there maybe there was a technical issue, and it will be emptied first thing Tuesday. Come Tuesday check the containers contents, what was left of it (major storm came in Monday night and resulted the bulk of my trash scattered around on the ground, that had to then be picked up and put back in the trash can. Had the trash been picked up per schedule (Monday) then there would not be the need to spend numerous hours picking it all up again!!! Come midday Tuesday still NO sign of any waste management trash hauler? Called Waste Management customer service, what happened and why wasn't the trash which had always been scheduled for a Monday had not been picked up and it was now Tuesday midday. The customer service lady informed that the schedule had been changed to a Friday AM!! I advised her clearly that there had been NO advance notification of said change in schedule. She said let me check and advised that I was correct that there had been no advance notification of such change in schedule!!! The trash can was brought back into the home area, but due to now nearly two weeks in not being emptied, it was overflowing. I had to then decant some of the trash debris put into bags and transport it to a location that would accept such trash, very inconvenient to say the least!!! I should not have to be doing Waste Managements job because of its incompetence! What kind of customer service is this when a change of service date is initiated and absolutely NO advance notifications to the customers they serve!!! Not to mention having to retrieve trash from the roads as the container had not been emptied on schedule and then having to physically drive and take my trash to a receiving facility! Even to this day there has still NOT been any advisement of change of schedule??? Many Waste Management trash containers around the Sonoran Ridge Estates have been sitting out for numerous days because no ones knows what the hell is going on with pick up schedules. In summary, I am looking for Waste Management to make this matter right, period! THEY STILL HAVE NOT NOW ONE MONTH AFTER THE EVENT!
