I may be a little biased since Marie is my best friend's mom, but seriously--she gives amazing haircuts and absolutely deserves all five stars! She's the only barber in her shop, works her own hours, and takes appointments only (via walk-in, call, or text), and just a heads up--it's cash only. Marie's been doing this for years, and her experience truly shows. She's friendly, detailed, and has some reference photos posted to help guide your vision. She'll always give you a realistic, clean cut that suits you. I brought both my husband and son in--my son's hair was getting long and covering his eyes, and my husband needed a haircut rescue. He had gone to his usual shop, tried a new barber and a slick-back style to surprise me, but his hair wasn't long enough and his natural waves made it stick up awkwardly like a pompadour. It completely turned me off, and he knew it too. So we headed to Marie's. She took both of our feedback seriously and somehow worked her magic--by the time she was done, my husband looked great again and even joked that she saved our marriage because his wife finally loved him again. She also gave my son a fresh, styled cut that he really liked too. To top it all off, the prices were shockingly affordable--only around $30 for both haircuts, when most places charge $40 for just one men's haircut. Hours are a little shorter than posted here on Yelp (she generally starts around 0930 daily). Call for scheduling of appointments before you arrive. Very detail oriented, did not feel rushed at all. Overall a very positive experience, great haircut, solid value, and small-business owner vibes. This business was formerly known as Marie's Station, but the name and owner has changed to Marie's Barbershop. Nice lady running the shop. Very attentive, helpful, and kind. She is a great barber as well and cuts primarily mens' hair but also cuts women. Prices very reasonable; $10 for a regular cut. No appointments due to some lamebrain older customer getting mad that someone was getting a haircut when he showed up 10 minutes late to his appointment. Marie says appointments too much trouble now, so walk-ins only. Can't beat the price, can't beat the friendly conversation, and can't beat professional looking cuts. Thank you Marie. This is one of the best barbershops around. I get fades and she knows how to give a great fade. When I moved to the area I tried many places and they were not as good as Marie and they were more expensive. This is a hidden gem and worth trying out you won't be disappointed . I wasn't surprised that it took Marie an hour to fix the damage - and trim my beard. It came out great. What has surprised me is that, every time I've returned, Marie has spent almost as much time on my hair and beard. Marie is meticulous, a real perfectionist. Small little gem in fair oaks/Carmichael area. Marie has been cutting hair for years and it shows. She takes time, and really cares about doing a good job. She can be really busy at times and only accepts walk-ins. I've waited as long as an hour and a half but always worth the wait. I usually get my hair cut every 2-4 weeks depending but could last even longer. I have very light blond hair and it's very thin but I have a lot of it. So it's been hard to find someone who can actually cut my hair the way I want it. Years and years I've had terrible haircuts and botched jobs, and I don't blame the barber, my hair is just really hard to cut! Once I found Marie I never looked back, I've gotten to know her over the years and she is a very sweet lady. Support your local business and check her out! My husband previously had a great experience at this shop. Loved the lady and she did a great job. He went in today and was told to come back in 45 minutes ( which had never happened before) and she could get him in. When he came back there were 3 people in front of him. When he addressed himself as coming back, she rudely pointed to her "no appointment" sign and told him to get in line. Had he just waited there as planned, he would have been out and done. Not sure if she was off her game or what but her disrespectful attitude lost her a 6 month regular customer. read more

I have been going to marie for years i moved down to south Sacramento and i still drive across town to get my hair cut by her. She is an amazing person and very detailed orientated. Marie does an excellent job cutting hair but she has the worst customer service. Her prices are cheap, but not worth being hassled at every time you want to change up your hair cut. I've been going to her shop for over 6 months and I always ask for the same thing, a haircut and beard trim and she always gives me a hard time about trimming my beard and makes sure every customer that comes in knows about it. By telling them "it's going to take a long time before I'm done because I have to trim his beard to." Saying it very rudely. One time I gave her a $9 tip and the next time I came in, I only gave her a $4 tip and she told me that she's going to start charging me more because it takes her longer to cut my hair and beard. I was like okay, whatever. Yeah, I know I probably should have never came back, but I gave her another shot and that was the last time I've been to her shop. The next time I went in she refused to line up my beard free hand. She said she could only trim it using the pre measured trimmers. I told her I just wanted a clean up not a 1/2 inch trim. Then she went on and started hassling me telling me I always want something different every time I come in. I was like, "so, isn't that what a haircuts about." Apparently, I'm not allowed to change up my hair style. I wasn't even really changing anything up. So if you want a good cheap haircut and can deal with the horrible service then go to her if not I would recommend a different barbershop. This lady is the worst rudest lady I've met in ages I brought my son in for a haircut sat and waiting I tried to explain the kind of haircut that I wanted my son to have and that he wanted , there are several pictures of boys and men's haircuts displayed on the wall I simply tried to explain that I wanted short in the back and a little bit long in the front so he could have a little pompadour style she began raising her voice at me scolding me saying ,"listen you pick one picture only !!
