Yesterday I walked in when they were closed and ask if I could walk in the get the hair cut for my son, the guy said just come tomorrow in the morning at 10 am I even ask oh, I don't need an appointment just walk in, he said yes. So we went there in the morning and waiting for 30mins and the guy show up said I have a customer coming I can't do it now so we ended up made an appointment even they should've told me yesterday so I don't have to go and wasted my time. Anyway, we were late so I called up apologized and ask if I still can go there, it would be 10mins late so he was asking are you be here 2:30pm. So I tried to ask if I still going there and he hang up so fews minutes later he called back and just throw all the tamper. While I was apologizing. Very rude! ZERO STARS! This shop is supposed to open at 10:00 AM. The Barbers showed up late and then gave me an attitude. One of them asked me if i was a walk in and then who was first. I answered that yes I was a walk in and that I was first in line. Then the barber asked me to come back and hour later. I told him that that was not good for me and I asked if he could cut my hair. He said yes he was trying to figure out who was first in line I have replied again that I was. He then asked me to come back at 11 again. Then he basically kicked me out of the shop. Finally found a barbershop that did not turn me away because I'm a female. Believe it or not after 2 years of searching for a barbershop locally here in Sac to maintain my super short cut and being told "No, we don't cut women's hair" by more shops than I could keep track of;Axel at Goodfellas said yes. Of course I was the only chic inside the shop when I arrived for my afternoon appointment with Axel but that didn't surprise me nor make me uncomfortable in any way shape or form. I'm comfortable within my own skin ya know... I made my appointment with him via a phone call earlier in the week for the upcoming Saturday. Anywho, I presented to him and told him the following: I am ready for a change. Want to keep the left side of my head kept uber close to me scalp and grow out the rest of the hair I've got left. He took his time sizing up what he had to work with and then asked me a few more detailed questions. To which I said just do whatever you feel is going to look the best and work with what I've already stated is my goal. Axel is a whiz with them clippers and damn good with scissors as well. He cleaned up the nearly shaved off side of my head AND blended/faded to perfection into the areas where my hair is much longer including the back of my head. He totally transformed the back of my head and blended it so beautifully I teared up once I saw it. All within a matter of moments. I wasn't even there in his chair for I'd say more than 20 minutes. In this time he took me from a sloppy mess to a svelte cutting edge style. LOVED THAT! He's super sweet, polite, professional and soft spoken. I found this blend to be perfect for me as he put me at ease... I paid $15 plus a $5 tip for his work on this day as he said he didn't do much verses an entire head cut. Although I don't have pics of my entire head I do have frontal shots of the end result status-post Axel and I am thrilled to pieces with the outcome. Will be returning in a month me thinks for a clean up. Oh! Axel specializes in hair-art designs as well which I'm considering getting in the nearly naked part of my scalp on my next trip. He uses his Instagram page to post pictures of his work as well as for booking appointments so I felt it would be helpful for potential shoppers to have this Intel and peruse. New in town. I just moved into the area and I've been checking out local spots like bars, mechanics, Barbershops, etc.. I stopped by a few shops today (Friday) and there isn't much going on. I left two barbers today before I came over to Goodfellas. At first, you kinda get that intimidating barbershop vibe but I was greeted right at the door. They had just opened (10am) and it was already busy. I made an appointment with Eddie later that day. FOR ANYONE TRYING TO GO HERE - call in and make an appointment. I found out they do take walks ins if it's slow but you're better of scheduling an appointment. So I come back for my appointment in the afternoon and asked for a comb over fade and a beard trim. I was working with Eddie. Eddie worked with what I had wanted, gave me options and asked questions throughout the cut to make sure I was getting exactly what I wanted. Not only that but he's a cool dude to talk to and they have TVs everywhere you look, so it was a good time. The haircut exceeded my expectations completely, I'm glad I found this spot in my neighborhood. I'll definitely be a regular here. Thanks Eddie. Also just to add. They have a lounge area with toys and games for kids, a foosball table, cold water and cups and a clean bathroom. This was my first time at a barbershop style salon. Easy neighbor location and good hours. They ask for appointments, but the sign also said walk in welcome. Everyone was friendly and they took their time with each customer. Five chairs and all where busy with many different styles of cut. My son was getting a trim and it looked great when he was done. I have been getting haircuts for 10 straight years and there is this one barbershop that has done the best job. Goodfellas barbershop is located near Fair Oaks. I have been going to this barbershop for 7 years and the one barber I always go to is Alex. He is my barber and he never fails to give me a good haircut. When you enter the barbershop you will smell this nice smell of aftershave that is so satisfying. When it was my turn to get the haircut, the chair was soft and the chair was able to recline so the barber could cut my hairline precisely with a sharp blade. 90% of barbershops get customers because the barbershop has quality tools and good service. The other 10% of barber shops have low quality tools and bad service. Goodfellas is a good place to go because it has quality tools and it has good service. The barbers are able to talk to you in English and Spanish if you speak Spanish. All in all Goodfellas is a good business. It is better than its competitors Kings lounge. Kings Lounge has its quality tools and items, but sometimes the service isn't the best. The haircut is sometimes not the way you wanted it to be. This is why Goodfellas will always be on top in my opinion. read more

$31 for a shave? I've never had a straight razor shave before and I think it should be on a guy's bucket list. I had about 4 days of growth and had one of the barbers go to work on my face. It took him 30 minutes and the weird part was that when he was done with the straight razor he pulled out an electric razor and went over my face twice with it! I thought that it ruined the whole experience of an old time shave.And was something I could do at home. When he was done I asked him how much and he said ":$31". I thought that was steep but since I had never had one before, I didn't know how much a shave usually costs. Since then I've found an old barber (Jake's) who does a straight razor cut for $22. So my fellow Yelpers, I want to be fair so I give Goodfellas 3 stars which is a neutral rating. I got the shave I requested,(5 stars) but the experience was diluted by the electric razor and the $31 cost (1 star). Let me know if this is useful or if I'm out of line. read more

This place can fade hair better than any other shop in Sacramento. Super friendly atmosphere, always on time with the appointments. I recommend it to everybody. They're also great with kids. We brought my two year old boy in and he got an awesome fade, best in his preschool actually. I try to come weekly, Alex is my regular barber, but they all have skills. Drop ins work, but appointments are always ideal. Check the schedule, usually closed Sunday and Monday. Call and the guys will put you in the book and get you hooded up with a time and barber. Family friendly and cool environment. Always have a soccer game or movie to watch. Complimentary soft drinks and a clean bathroom. Kids toys to entertain the youngsters in case of a wait. read more

Axl is a great barber. I came here on a whim. I live down the street and didn't even realize it was open (this building has been everything from an alterations place to a yoga studio if memory serves me right). For a Wednesday it was pretty busy. All chairs were full and there was three of us waiting but they greeted me promptly and were honest about the 20-30 min wait. I went and grabbed coffee and right when I got back I was being helped promptly by Axl He was friendly and an absolutely great barber!!!! I have a traditional mans haircut and it looks amazing. He even added a few designs that I requested and they look amazing. I will never go to another barber for my man haircut. Thanks Axl. I'd recommend to anyone!!! And reasonably priced. Axel cuts my hair every now and then and does a great job. The place is nice and cozy. It's kid friendly too. They had tacos and nachos on the house when I last stopped by. Another gentleman by the name of Alex cut my hair when I had popped in last minute. He did a great job as well. I recommend this place, for sure. I stopped by the other day to get a tune up and a bit of style. I came out with a proper fade and detailed mustache. Denny was great. The shop is chill with a bunch of TVs and comfortable seating. The price is decent and parking is easy. I am a big fan of the straight razor and Denny did not fail to deliver. Sharp and crisp was the goal and sharp and crisp is what I received. I had to leave my regular haircut lady in the middle of her cutting. She pissed me off and I ended up going down the street to Goodfellas and explained my situation and asked if they could squeeze me in real quick to do a beard trim. Eddie took care of it without any questions and did a good ass job on my beard. Plus he's very personal and turned my day around. The lady's price is super cheap, $20 out the door for haircut, beard trim and $4 tip but has horrible service. Goodfellas is a bit more pricy, $28 without tip, but much better hair cut with a straight razor clean up and way better service. Most people will pay higher prices if they get better service.
