Marika, did everything to get me the best rate. I don't think I could have refinanced without her determination!! Thanks, Marika!

We just closed on our first house last week, and I feel SO FORTUNATE to have found Maureen!! She is a mastermind of the mortgage lending process! I don't think I've ever met someone who is so hardworking with such high standards. Even better, Maureen upholds the same high standards for every one else involved in the lending process (escrow company, lenders, realtors, etc.) and she is constantly 2 steps ahead and prepared for anything, with a back up plan "just in case" to ensure everything goes through seamlessly. As a first time homebuyer initially unfamiliar with the process, I now know I threw a couple curve balls and Maureen didn't even bat an eye. As if all that wasn't enough, I also had no idea where to start when looking for a good realtor. Maureen suggested a few she has worked with in the past that she thought were really good, and she did not disappoint. I ended up choosing Melissa Tucci as my realtor, who was just as amazing as Maureen, and the two of them working together turned into an unstoppable powerhouse that could move mountains and get a deal done! If you're looking for a mortgage broker who will take care of you like family and go above and beyond, look no further. You will not be disappointed!

A Dream Realized in 18 Days - Thanks to Maureen Martin…read more Words can't fully express the gratitude I have for Maureen Martin of Homeplus Mortgage. From the moment we began our home-buying journey, Maureen showed herself to be an absolute powerhouse--a strong, focused businesswoman who brings unmatched professionalism, compassion, and commitment to everything she does. Maureen isn't just about numbers and paperwork--she's client-centric to her core. Her dedication, responsiveness, and fierce determination made us feel supported every step of the way. When I finally met her in person, I immediately felt her radiant energy and warmth. Her aura and spirit are something truly rare--she's one of the most special, genuine people I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. Thanks to her tireless efforts, we went from placing an offer to holding the keys to our new home in just 18 days. That kind of turnaround is almost unheard of, but Maureen made it happen. We are forever indebted to her for not just helping us close on a house, but for helping us secure our dream. If you're looking for a lender who is not only masterful at what she does but also deeply human in how she does it, look no further. Maureen Martin is a godsend.

Thanks to John Gillis and Steve Chizmadia for bringing me out of Yelp semi-retirement to let those…read moreout there know what to expect if they are considering having ACHL handle their home loan. As a neophyte to the refinance process I was recommended to American Capital Home Loans by a friend and I dove right in to get a great deal for my home refinance completed in an expeditious manner. I was encouraged to opt for a VA loan for which I didn't know that I even qualified for since I was a reservist (as it turns out I do qualify...no thanks to them though). It was a good interest rate for the time and my financial advisor with Merrill even indicated he couldn't match the terms, so I didn't shop it around any more. Initially things were progressing after we provided the herculean amount of financial documentation required to complete a loan these days, but then we ran into the snag of questions regarding my ability to qualify for the VA loan. Nonplussed, I took it upon myself to undertake this investigation since Steve Chizmadia and the underwriting team were unable to establish what documents were actually required nor how to acquire them. Finally after expending the better part of 20 hours of my own time researching sitting on hold, faxing, emailing and speaking with the VA, Naval Personnel Records, and the ACHL underwriters, I was able to attain the Certificate of Eligibility (COE). By the way, during this entire process, I was constantly asking if this loan was going to "go bad" because of how much time it was taking. I was reassured that if we completed all necessary documentation by December 23 then we would be whole and the loan would proceed as indicated. On December 23rd I was informed that the loan was never locked and that the terms of the loan as I had understood them had changed. I was deftly handed off to John Gillis who acts in a managerial capacity for ACHL. He told me that I was "being emotional" and that he "didn't pay people to do loans"...I would never speak to my customers that way, and certainly not ones who had lost thousands of dollars based on the flummoxes of my staff. He said he would get back to me by the end of the Holiday week with options. John called me on Saturday to discuss the terms of the new deal, but refused to accept anything resembling accountability for the issue with the lack of locking, nor did he disclose what the difference between the terms of the original loan were and the one he was proposing (I know there was a difference, but he wouldn't do the math for me). He called the lack of locking and change in loan terms a communications mix up. Long story very long, I elected to go with another lender (whom I will in fairness write a review about separately and not mention here). They offered much better closing terms, the same rate, and they didn't have the baggage and ill-will that were the result of the repeated lack of customer service and undelivered promises that John Gillis and Steve Chizmadia delivered to me and my family. I do not recommend this loan provider and strongly recommend shopping around and comparing terms as a home loan is a huge commitment.

It is a rarity in today's age of "fill out an application on line and we will let you know next week" mentality. Carl & John were fast friendly and they even got me better terms on my financing package than originally agreed upon. :)
