Last year I switched over to this practice and definitely happy with my decision. Dr. Fahmy has been great for the past 5 weeks in treating my dog's wound infection. The whole staff and Dr. Fahmy have been nothing but amazing especially during the hard times. They have been very understanding, patient, compassionate, caring and kind. They truly care about the animals and it is not your other stereotypical veterinarian office where they rush you in and out. They absolutely care and so kind and sweet to your fur babies. My entire family veterinarian goes to Dr. Fahmy(over 25 years). When I got married and got my 3 dachshunds, that's who I wanted to care for my furbabies(17 years) and 2 litters. They have always been thorough and clear about costs and estimates. ANY time I have a question, it's addressed. Quality care isn't free, everything goes up. Dr. has gotten all 3 of my pups through cancers, dental issues, cardiac, kidney. He abandoned Christmas shopping when my pup ate dark chocolate truffles, I wouldn't take my babies anywhere else. I had my fiancé take our 10week old puppy for his second shot. The breeder was very serious about not letting people touch him till his 3rd shot so that he doesn't get sick. The main lady was nice, but I was upset and disappointed to hear that the other 2 girls were petting my puppy! As professionals KNOWING he's there for his second shot, they should know that touching him could get him sick. I don't know how many dogs they've touched since the last time they washed their hands. Having just moved to the area, I found Marina Animal Hospital through Yelp and decided to make a visit there. Sadly one of my dogs had already been diagnosed with Osteosarcoma at the time and his first check up there was really to ensure they knew his situation for when his time came. Over the next few weeks I was back often between two dogs and the time finally came for my boy. I couldn't be more pleased with their level of service and understanding given our situation. Very dissatisfied with the Dr. We are patients of Banfield ( very dissatisfied with their services and looking for a new Vet) My dog had an open wound that became infected, Most places were booked but Marina was able to get us in right away. Staff was great thats why 2 stars but the Dr. made me feel unwelcome by asking why we didn't go to Banfield or to another hospital. He offered 2 options I went with the injection of antibiotics, self care and antibiotics to take home. The Dr. Wanted me to use the old used saturated wrap we came in with or leave with an open infected wound. I had to ask him to wrap it and he proceeded to charge an extra $28 for $2.75 worth of supplies in addition he did not wrap it well and it immediately started coming off.. I had to wrap it again when I got home. The communication was poor, there was no sincerity, compassion or personality. Definitely worse than the care we receive at Banfield. My new rescue dog, 10 yrs old, was not eating and was in extreme discomfort when I picked her up. I went to MAH, Dr. Fahmy and explained. He said he'd sedate her, get some blood and urine, and do an xray - come back at 3:00. I picked up my baby at 3:00 and she was sedated. The bill was $877.00!!!!! to draw blood and take an xray!!!! Dr Fahmy told me to come back the next day to discuss her results. I thought "cancer" so I was a wreck. She slept until the next morning. So we go back the next morning (she's fine), wait for an hour to have him tell me that "her results are good. She's healthy." THAT cost $45! It could have been a phone call but this guy is a heartless money-grubber. Damn near $1000.00 for a tummy ache. You never saw anybody as flustered as he was when I asked him "so what did you do to make her better?" He stuttered out "Well, I sedated her." STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS SCAM ARTIST!!! You've been warned. I wish I had taken the reviews of him padding bills and upselling seriously. This is a another example: the first time we saw him he said that she had a terrible wax blockage in her left ear. I bought the ear juice (of course he sold it) but completely forgot about it so she never got any. Horrible from the moment you walk in the door! Reception was not friendly or personable at least the dark haired girl! The Vet was a quack told me not to come in with several concerns for my dog! I was trying to explain his symptoms I was literally speechless, I got angry. The dog has severe separation anxiety & depression. He vomits, shakes, licks his lips, paws & nose excessively & refuses food sometimes for days! He becomes detached when my daughters leave even if I'm still there he does not play on his own & is obsessive compulsive unable to control his emotions or actions! When someone comes home he goes into extreme energy it's the only time he does anything besides every minute of the day doing things to seek physical interaction. He really won't even sit near anyone he wants engagement & is severely depressed when he doesn't get it. He also excessively humps things. we had already consulted trainers The fact is he only does these things when people are not giving him physical attention so obviously if a trainer is there or we're at the vet office and he's getting attention carried for 45 minutes of course he's happy! Anyway this vet told me that he was not depressed. What I'm trying to do is prevent what this veterinarian considers depressed which is a extremely withdrawn dog. He needs anti depressants we've tried everything else. I can't believe this physicians has 30 years of experience it saddens me people have lost the connection with the job that they're supposed to be doing which is care & preventative services of animals. I mean seriously I wouldn't be there if this wasn't a huge issue I can't deal with anymore. It's too much for me. I mean I am at a loss of what to do with this dog but I know I can't take it anymore and it's sad that you can't get help when you need it read more

I want to thank Dr. Fahmy, my chihuahua Thalia has been going to him for many years since she was 3 years old (she is now 17). A couple weeks ago we noticed she wasn't eating or drinking for two days and we were desperate for help, we thought the worst was coming up. We took her to a different hospital for emergency the 2nd night and she was walking in a circle and would barely open her eyes. The hospital staff there said we should think about hospice and said she might have a tumor in her brain, we were heartbroken! She was in perfect health days before. That night they gave her steroids to take and she woke up panicking and breathing so fast, we then noticed her left eye become so incredibly swollen she could not open it. The hospital staff told us it's risky to bring her back if she undergoes x rays to treat the tumor (if she had one) because she is so tiny. We decided to wait and at this point as much as it hurt we made a call to hospice to let her go as she looked like she was in so much pain. The next day we decided to take her to her doctor, Dr. Fahmy for guidance. He also said it could be a possible tumor, but said let's try an antibiotic and stop that steroid and pray for a miracle. The next day she began to eat and drink! By the third day her swollen eye was completely gone!!! She was our little girl again and has so much energy we couldn't believe it!! One month later she is back to her normal self and we are so happy we are spending more time with her. Thank you Dr. Fahmy and all the staff!!!!! We are so grateful and appreciate you!! read more

I will never take my two fur babies to any Veterinarian other than Dr. Fahmy! He took excellent care of our wonderful family member-Bichon, "Charlie" who lived to be almost 16 years old. I gave one star because I truly thought I finally found a Vet who wasn't in it for the money and was happy with him at first. I'm retired living on a fixed income and over the past 2 years, I've always appreciated Dr. Fahmy for giving me options when I just couldn't afford to do further testing, etc. Because I trusted him, I really felt like my dog's swollen paw must be very serious when Dr. Fahmy told me she would need X-rays, aspiration and a biopsy. He said it could be broken or maybe a tumor and we wouldn't have results for a week. Then, jokingly, he asked for the pink slip to my car and I knew that meant it would be expensive but I was scared especially when he said tumor. An $870 bill to find out 3 days later that it was NOTHING!! A possible infection he said but no sign of anything else. I'm sorry but he SHOULD have given me an option to give her the antibiotic injection, anti inflammatory or antibiotic meds and give it a couple days to see if it got any better. If not, THEN some invasive testing. She's 16 years old!! I was already soaking it in Epsom salt which was given as a recommendation after charging all that money. The swelling & soreness was much better before he even called with results. Shame on you. Look further down to Anna A's review. At least she got the option that I would have definitely chosen!! Dr Fahmy is by far, hands down the best vet I've ever been to. He's NEVER, EVER been pushy or has mentioned unnecessary procedures as some reviews stated. On the contrary has helped me when I haven't had all the funds to get the things my dogs might need with a small discount here and there. What I love most is his sense of humor, soft spokeness and the way he takes his time to explain everything, even my 100 questions and concerns. I feel at ease with my dogs there. I have been here three times now so I figured I'd write a review. The staff is always wonderful, helpful, and sincere. Ample parking The lobby and exam rooms aren't much to look at but I love the artwork they have up. Dr. Fahmy seems to enjoy it too :) I am new to the area and needed a vet, I called over a holiday weekend and their answering machine was the only one in town that had listed phone numbers to other vets and hospitals for my convenience. I felt like that showed that they care about my pets more than where they are seen. I see a lot of people complaining about up selling and I have got to say that I have not been offered a single product. Dr. Fahmy even suggested we wait and see about my cats cold and it went away just like he thought, no test, no charges, no meds. I have a sickly dog as well and this was the cheapest round of testing he has ever had. We really like dr. Fahmy. I think he is a good person and that he has my pets wellness at heart. read more

These guys have been great with my pets for over 10 years.  The doctors always return phone calls;  My dog was sick last year and after her initial appointment I spoke to the Dr every day for about a week.  In fact on more than one occasion I have been called out of the blue by one of the doctors (sometimes even outside of business hours) to see how my sick pet was doing. Yes they can be pricey, but they have always been willing to suggest alternatives for me before when I expressed concern about the price of tests or procedures.  I suggest you ask what something is going to cost before agreeing to it. read more

This is an outstanding local, private veterinary practice. I take healthcare for my pets as seriously as I do for myself. I've spent countless hours researching everything from bedding, toys, activity levels, nutritional requirements, harnesses, car safety systems, and everything in between. I moved to Oxnard in 2012 with two cats and a dog, and believe me, long before that move, I had already been researching veterinarians. Dr. Fahmy has been our family veterinarian ever since. He is very highly regarded as a knowledgeable and compassionate veterinary physician, and has a reputation for his honesty and approach to medicine. He has cared for my pet family since I moved here and I have very rarely ever had a need to see another vet. Dr. Fahmy has been there for my pets even until the end. It's heart wrenching to say goodbye to a pet, but Dr. Fahmy and the staff at Marina really helped me through a very difficult time when I had to make the decision to say goodbye to one of my cats (who thought he was a dog and was my best friend). I couldn't tell him I approved. I couldn't let go, but he gave me the time and with his compassionate words, I was able to do the best and right thing for my best little friend. He's seen my dog throughout his life. I had a heart attack last year and recovery took a very long time. My dog missed several appointments for check ups and boosters in 2017 and hadn't been in to see the doctor in a year. He's been sick for a week, so I made an appointment for him this morning. Everything from being greeted with smiles by the friendly staff, to the initial exam by the medical assistant, and to Dr. Fahmy's evaluation, followed by my 100 questions I always ask, all went off without a hitch. He presented multiple options, and made recommendations, then treated my dog. We will have results of blood tests tomorrow, and I am nervous, but I know that my dog Stitch is in very good hands and Dr. Fahmy will not let him down. If you're in the area and doing your research to find the absolute best veterinary care for your dog, cat, rabbit, or zebra, I cannot recommend Dr. Fahmy more highly. My wife and I took our newly acquired 12 year old male terror here on recommended list from Ventura County shelter...If only I had read the YELP recommended list from Marina in particular the ONE STAR rated.data...long story short our main concern was dogs cataracts and getting new solution that helps cure cataracts..plus dog had itching condition...vet and owner gave eye drops NOT FOR cataracts..gave us vitamins we did not ask for..dog spray with harsh elements within..County paid the approx. $50 office visit but we ended up with a $198 bill...after complaining they refunded the $30 non asked for spray..I called to complain about NOT GETTING the one item we asked for and did not receive..the Cataract drops..the office DID NOT seem to know about these drops..I told them look on internet and while there to check out the $11 cost for the drops they charged me $33.50 for!! please read the ONE STAR Yelp data..most of these are accurate in there concerns..just received letter from Marina today..they DO NOT WANT US as clients...quess what Marina you couldn't PAY ME to return..Avoid this place.. read more

He said our dog didn't need anything done, but said that we could get a anti inflammatory for our dog, but said he didn't think we needed it. While I must agree that the staff at Marina Animal Hospital is very caring and kind, and Dr. Fahmy is a nice man I would have to say that unless your animal has a skin rash or needs it shots, this is not the place to go. I brought my senior dog there about 8 months ago after moving to the area..he had been diagnosed several years prior to then with an ailment in his lung.. on the medications he had been taking it had not grown or changed in over a year..my dog was happy and pretty healthy..Dr. Fahmy explained to me that 1. The medication my dog was taking was "VERY EXPENSIVE"..(I KNOW that he had been on it for a VERY long time) and 2.) from what he saw the growth was "Nothing to worry about"..uhh, no it WAS. So I took him off the medication thinking he IS a VET he must know. Seven months later, my dog gets sick and Dr. Fahmy runs some tests, on a Monday, tells me that the lung looks worse and sends me home with an antibiotic. Tuesday he tells me the tests look good. Friday I bring him back with an upset stomach, at 4 PM. the doctor tells me that "HE might have a fungus infection, but he thinks it's cancer..I will have to put him down..not today but very soon". And did not offer to TRY to treat him for anything else..(Because it would be "VERY EXPENSIVE.") The following Monday I saw another excellent Vet who spent over 1 hour just going over his ex-rays and ran blood tests to actually look for infections that I now know he is suffering from. Here is the kicker..if I had gotten him the right diagnosis just a week earlier, he might have much more of a chance at making it..now most likely I will loose him within days. I think this vet while a nice group of people and an agreeable enough Dr. for shots and things might just not be who you want treating your senior or sick pet..better left to the experts.. Also double check your bill.."VERY EXPENSIVE" (for the amount of things they do,) not as expensive as a specialist..all though I did spend less at the specialist, by the way who did a much more detailed series of tests. Also, you will have a challenge on your hands if you want anything out of the ordinary for example, x-rays as the Dr. Himself will tell you..they are "Very expensive"..If you choose to bring your animal in in good health that's your choice if you choose to bring them in when they might have a problem..good luck and keep driving. I cannot blame Marina Animal hospital for my dogs current condition and I do not hold them responsible in any way he is no spring chicken..however they did not help his situation either. I feel bad saying this because they are so nice, but when it comes to pets who are like family I want others to be aware of my experiences. **My dog died two days after writing this review, Had he NEVER been taken off his medication, he would have been in much better condition and possible NEVER gotten sick, according to my new vet** read more

I wanted to try a Vet hospital that was closer to my house. Our first visit to Marina Hospital we met the vet doctor which he seemed very good and easy to speak to, I actually liked him. So we scheduled our dog to go back for surgery. The receptionist's we're not pleasant but I thought maybe I will give this place try and I'm being picky. So my husband took our dog to drop him off for surgery. He said when went in the office, the receptionist didn't greet him. She just told him to wait. Other pets were getting dropped as well and she kept taking everyone else's pets in and not helping my husband. All he needed to do is drop our dog off. My husband rarely ever complains about people but he called me and said how the customer service was not good at all. So he left Marina Vet hospital and called to tell me he was scheduling with Buena Vet in Ventura because the staff are so welcoming and treat everyone courteously and also show caring and compassion toward their clients and animals. The receptionist's are always amazing on the phone. They are just the best!!! I'll drive further to take my pets to Buena Vet. I wouldn't give one star to this place but yelp requires at least one star. It so important to feel comfortable with your pets vet office not just with doctor but with the whole staff. My husband said that he actually felt their preference. The receptionists only see white and no other color. read more
