My family and I are eternally grateful for Dr. LaFevre and the team for the care they gave our Spanky during his last few weeks. Spanky was a part of our family for almost 16 years so it was a difficult time for us seeing him no longer be himself. Dr. LaFevre's compassion for not only Spanky but us as well, means the world to us. She was very thorough in her exam and honest about what would be best for Spanky. When the time came for us to let him go, we felt at ease because we trust Dr. LaFevre and her professional opinion. She gave Spanky love til the very end. The team also went above and beyond when it came time for us to pick up his ashes. When we looked inside the bag, we saw they made us multiple ink paw prints and a bigger one that had both his paws and his nose. It's small things like that show they care. I will be recommending Cornelius Pet Hospital to family and friends. Only suggestion would be for there to be peace and quite around the area that surrounds the room where families say goodbye to their fur babies - at least while there's a family in there. There's veterinary clinics that do this and it definitely does help the moment be more private. I was worried about my cat cause she couldn't keep her food down. I called them right when they opened and they were able to schedule me in for the urgent care. My girlie is very shy and the techs and doctor was really nice and explained to me what they think is the problem. They gave her a shot for nausea and said if it persists to come back and they will run extra tests. Good thing the shot did the trick and whatever she had pass. I am so happy to find this amazing Vet hospital for all my pets! . My dog had a dental emergency causing a huge amount of pain & distress and was told by Ohana Pet Hospital (who we've been going to for almost 10 years) that Calvin would not get in other than for an appt at their urgent care to treat his pain, until April. There was just no way he could have or should have to wait that long to get the procedure done. It just felt like they were so disconnected from any compassion & interest in doing right by a long time patient. But when you (Ohana) prioritize growth & $$$ over quality care, accessibility & availability, this is the outcome; unfortunately. Boy things have changed there since they opened their doors years back. Okay.. now onto the good stuff. Was so lucky to get a same day appointment with Cornelius Pet Hospital for 4:30 & upon arrival, the front desk office administrator greeted us warmly & checked Calvin in. Didn't wait more than a minute or so when the Veterinarian assistant, Kim, came to us and took us back to an available room. She was attentive, in tune & caring to Calvin and could understand my concern for his discomfort & distress he was under. Not long after, the Veterinarian, Dr. Brandon Heikes came in and was also so tapped in to the sense of urgency & concern I was feeling. So instead of just putting a band-aide on Calvin, he got right to it & evaluated the situation & offered to squeeze him in the next day to perform the teeth extractions so that he wouldn't have to endure a 6 week wait at Ohana Pet Hospital. I was so baffled by his level of humanity, compassion & empathy shown to us, given this was our first time ever coming in, & here he is this accommodating so that we didn't have to wait till April. That was truly amazing. I must add, the pricing was beyond fair & cheaper than what I've experienced. I'm happy to report that all went well with his surgery and he is feeling so much better because of it. They even gave him a care package of goodies to go home with! It might go without saying that we have a new Vet hospital now, that makes us feel safe, cared for, appreciated & convinced that we couldn't be in better hands. Our crazy husky, Akela, ate a portion of a decorative dried-out gourd we had out for Fall! He started itching and then the lethargy, vomit/runs began a day later. Our vet couldn't get us in for an appointment so I asked a few friends for recommendations and started the research - reading tons of reviews for different pet hospitals. I love my dog a lot (he is my 3rd child) so I wanted the very best care for him. Cornelius Pet Hospital stood out and we are so happy with them that we will switch here permanently. The staff were friendly; we felt instantly comfortable. The office is clean and smells great. My fur baby didn't even realize he was at the vet. Typically, Akela being a husky, would cause a scene in the lobby - being overly dramatic - it's very embarrassing. We saw Dr. Heikes - he is down-to-earth and trustworthy. The treatment plan was conservative and the prices were reasonable. We were told that if Akela wasn't feeling better they would get him another appointment ASAP. When I didn't think I could love them anymore; the office called this morning to check in on Akela. Top-notch service! This is an outstanding hospital. The staff is so warm and friendly, they took us on time - no waiting, and the vet(s) took time with my dog. It was by NO means a rushed appointment, the vet sat on the floor (for over 20 min!) with my dog and so did the tech. We were about to leave town for 11 days and would have friends dog sitting our labradoodle. A few days before, and he started limping, badly, on one leg. Worried I might be dropping our dog with our friends with a broken bone or other injury, I called Cornelius. Despite their appointments being booked solid, they managed to squeeze us in. I dropped my guy just before lunch and the doctor examined him during their lunch time. She ordered xrays. When I picked him up, they warned that we may not have radiologist report until after the weekend (it was a Friday). They prescribed a mild anti inflammatory. Within hours, the radiologist report was ready and the doctor called to review it with me. No serious injuries! Within hours of the first pill, our boy seemed to be feeling better and was able to walk in what appeared to be a normal manner. I am completely grateful for the compassionate service we received, not just this time, but in our previous visits and in how I see them dealing with other concerned people while we have been in the office. read more
