Kind, thoughtful, and compassionate - I was referred to them when I discovered my Bullmastiff had lymphoma. (And my previous vet was being vague) They walked me through options, what to expect, and comforted me on the most difficult days. They even helped her celebrate her 4th birthday during a check-in. What a blessing to have them during that challenging time - from the Receptionists to the Techs & Drs... everyone is AMAZING!!!

My family and I are eternally grateful for Dr. LaFevre and the team for the care they gave our Spanky during his last few weeks. Spanky was a part of our family for almost 16 years so it was a difficult time for us seeing him no longer be himself. Dr. LaFevre's compassion for not only Spanky but us as well, means the world to us. She was very thorough in her exam and honest about what would be best for Spanky. When the time came for us to let him go, we felt at ease because we trust Dr. LaFevre and her professional opinion. She gave Spanky love til the very end. The team also went above and beyond when it came time for us to pick up his ashes. When we looked inside the bag, we saw they made us multiple ink paw prints and a bigger one that had both his paws and his nose. It's small things like that show they care. I will be recommending Cornelius Pet Hospital to family and friends. Only suggestion would be for there to be peace and quite around the area that surrounds the room where families say goodbye to their fur babies - at least while there's a family in there. There's veterinary clinics that do this and it definitely does help the moment be more private. It's a little upsetting to be in such a heartbreaking situation and to hear somebody vacuuming and people laughing. Thank you, Dr. LaFevre and team for being there for us.

As a first-time dog mom, I was full of questions about how to raise my pup in the healthiest, most holistic way--nutrition, lifestyle, spaying, and more. From the moment I walked into Cornelius Pet Hospital, I knew I found the right place for my fur baby, Luna. Catherine was the first person we met, and her warmth and kindness set the tone. She even gave Luna a toy to take home--such a sweet gesture! Our annual check-up with Dr. Brandon and Tanya went incredibly well. They were patient, thorough, and answered every question with genuine care. What stands out about this clinic is how personal the experience is. Everyone there is professional, compassionate, and truly loves animals. Even when we're just in the area, we stop by to say hi--and they always remember Luna and treat her to a healthy, single-ingredient snack. I'm so grateful to have found this place and can't recommend Cornelius Pet Hospital enough to fellow pet parents!

Friendly staff. Dr Rasmussen was very thorough and explained everything in detail very well. Didn't feel rushed, very patient understanding to me and my pets needs.

So happy I found this place! My dog had a foxtail stuck in his nose and I was able to find a next day appointment and they took amazing care of him! Pricing was very fair and reasonable. You can tell he was a very happy pup when I picked him up even after being under anesthesia!

Our crazy husky, Akela, ate a portion of a decorative dried-out gourd we had out for Fall! He started itching and then the lethargy, vomit/runs began a day later. Our vet couldn't get us in for an appointment so I asked a few friends for recommendations and started the research - reading tons of reviews for different pet hospitals. I love my dog a lot (he is my 3rd child) so I wanted the very best care for him. Cornelius Pet Hospital stood out and we are so happy with them that we will switch here permanently. The staff were friendly; we felt instantly comfortable. The office is clean and smells great. My fur baby didn't even realize he was at the vet. Typically, Akela being a husky, would cause a scene in the lobby - being overly dramatic - it's very embarrassing. We saw Dr. Heikes - he is down-to-earth and trustworthy. The treatment plan was conservative and the prices were reasonable. We were told that if Akela wasn't feeling better they would get him another appointment ASAP. When I didn't think I could love them anymore; the office called this morning to check in on Akela. Top-notch service! Tell a friend - just don't tell too many friends - we don't want them to get too popular. ; )

Calvin post-op with his goodies feeling no pain!

I am so happy to find this amazing Vet hospital for all my pets! . My dog had a dental emergency causing a huge amount of pain & distress and was told by Ohana Pet Hospital (who we've been going to for almost 10 years) that Calvin would not get in other than for an appt at their urgent care to treat his pain, until April. There was just no way he could have or should have to wait that long to get the procedure done. It just felt like they were so disconnected from any compassion & interest in doing right by a long time patient. But when you (Ohana) prioritize growth & $$$ over quality care, accessibility & availability, this is the outcome; unfortunately. Boy things have changed there since they opened their doors years back. Okay.. now onto the good stuff. Was so lucky to get a same day appointment with Cornelius Pet Hospital for 4:30 & upon arrival, the front desk office administrator greeted us warmly & checked Calvin in. Didn't wait more than a minute or so when the Veterinarian assistant, Kim, came to us and took us back to an available room. She was attentive, in tune & caring to Calvin and could understand my concern for his discomfort & distress he was under. Not long after, the Veterinarian, Dr. Brandon Heikes came in and was also so tapped in to the sense of urgency & concern I was feeling. So instead of just putting a band-aide on Calvin, he got right to it & evaluated the situation & offered to squeeze him in the next day to perform the teeth extractions so that he wouldn't have to endure a 6 week wait at Ohana Pet Hospital. I was so baffled by his level of humanity, compassion & empathy shown to us, given this was our first time ever coming in, & here he is this accommodating so that we didn't have to wait till April. That was truly amazing. I must add, the pricing was beyond fair & cheaper than what I've experienced. I'm happy to report that all went well with his surgery and he is feeling so much better because of it. They even gave him a care package of goodies to go home with! It might go without saying that we have a new Vet hospital now, that makes us feel safe, cared for, appreciated & convinced that we couldn't be in better hands. Never will I look forward to introducing our 4 other fur babies when the needs arise

Worn out after all of the attention!

I found this vet through yelp after searching for any office that could see my dogs as new patients. Nobody could get them in any time soon. I was able to make my appointment within a week. Online booking made it so easy. My girls were seen by Dr. Heikes, who was great with them. All of the staff were amazing. I can't remember the vet tech's name but she was so patient and thorough! I had a great experience at Cornelius pet hospital and I will be recommending them to everyone I know with pets!

My dog had been having tummy issues for a week. I called around and Cornelius was immediately able to not only take the call but schedule her for a same day appointment. The Vet Tech and Vet, took their time to make my Very Anxious baby feel comfortable. They were gentle enough with her that she managed to relax and lay down. The cost were reasonable and was able to get her started on treatments that very day. I will continue to bring her here. Thank you

Actually what they did was give me three of our best years together by accurately diagnosing his physical state for the first time in the 12 years that I'd owned him. It was a miracle. I thought I was calling her three years ago to put him down, and what happened instead was that we found out why he was sick. And they tenderly helped me care for him in his final time on this planet. They are compassionate, knowledgeable, and genuinely seem to care. It was important for me that he died at home so that the other two pets could know that he was gone to assist in their grieving. Dr.Pasek and Ray patiently and intuitively held space for me to find the right time. I highly recommend this team of professionals, not only professionals, but friends.

Dr. Pasek comes to your home for veterinary care, eliminating the difficulty and stress of schelping senior dogs to the animal clinic. At almost 16 years old, Scout's health was declining as she started to have a lot of medical issues that are common for older dogs. It became nearly impossible to transport her to our Vet's office. Scout weighed in at 60 pounds, she could barely see or hear and was so stressed when in the car. Thank God for Dr. Pasek who could examine and treat Scout in the comfort of our home. Over the past few months, Dr. Pasek advised us on how to assess Scout's Quality of Life and when to determine the 'right' time to let her go. She and her staff were kind, caring, professional and patient making this difficult time more manageable. When the time came to end our darling Scout's life, Dr. Pasek and her staff provided a beautiful ending to a beautiful life. In our serene backyard where Scout frolicked her whole life, she was put to 'sleep' surrounded with love and then taken away for Aquamation. Afterwards, Dr. Pasek presented us with a book she wrote about grieving for your pet. It was well-written, heart-felt and offered great constructive advice on coping with the loss of a pet. The next day, a single rose arrived on our doorstep in memory of Scout's passing from Dr. Pasek. We highly recommend her services. Dr. Pasek is a top-notch vet and a really nice person. It might be a little pricey, but worth it as she helped us get through this traumatic fact of life...or rather death. Arlene and Dennis H. Ventura, CA

It's not located right on Main Street, but right before you hit Main Street, depending on what direction you're coming from. The parking lot is small, but I could find parking easily. Appointments are scheduled weeks out; therefore, arrive on time to avoid losing your spot! A family came late with their two dogs, and Smiling Canines tried to squeeze them between other dogs' appointment times, but it was a hassle for both the family and business. After I filled out and signed some paperwork, the staff immediately took my little dog in to have his teeth cleaned. The whole appointment lasted maybe 30 minutes. They also have a small store pet you can look in while you wait for your dog; otherwise, you can stay in your car or sit in a chair outside. The lady who greeted me was kind, professional, and efficient. The prices are around $185 - $250, depending on what type of cleaning your dog needs. Unfortunately, I paid $250 because I had not kept on my dog's teeth, and he had a lot of tartar buildup. So he will need to come back in another six months for another cleaning, and my good boy deserves the best. Thank you, Smiling Canines, for vastly improving my dog's teeth - and breath!

The last thing you want when your fur baby is suffering is to reach voicemail after voicemail. Hearing a compassionate human voice on the other end of the phone brought me so much comfort. She came to my home first thing the next morning. I was worried about my younger Golden Retriever jumping on her or interfering with her care, but she was absolutely wonderful with both of my dogs. She encouraged him to stay in the room with us once he was comfortable with her, and I truly believe that helped him understand what was happening. She was incredibly professional, but I'll never forget one small moment. Out of the corner of my eye, while I was saying my final words and paying my last tributes to my girl, I saw her quietly wiping tears from her eyes. As a healthcare provider myself, I know how often we're expected to wear a mask and stay composed. Seeing that genuine emotion didn't make her seem less professional, it reassured me that she truly cared. In those final moments, your mind races. You question whether you're making the right decision. Seeing her emotion gave me peace because I knew she wasn't simply going through the motions. I knew that if she believed my girl wasn't ready, she would have told me. Most of us are fortunate enough to experience this kind of heartbreak only a few times in our lives. She carries families through it over and over again. That takes an incredible amount of compassion. Thank you for your kindness, your empathy, and for helping my sweet Lilo leave this world peacefully and with dignity. Please take care of yourself, too.
