This is probably the third marina I went to in the north side of East Bay. They have a nice park and with boats parked at the side. There weren't really many people here, but there seem to be residents to seem to like to walk around here. I can literally see SF and some bridges from here, but it's quite far compared to other marinas like the one from San Leandro and Emeryville. I also like how the sidewalks are created here. They seem to do a good job at creating them. This park is connected with the San Francisco Bay Trail. So if you want, you can visit other areas around here using that trail. read more

At the park for a birthday party and took the opportunity to log a few miles. My husband biked while I walked. The party and marina are well kept. There was a number of walkers, bikers, and families walking dogs. If I lived in the area I'd frequent the park often. Mix of sunny and shady areas in the actual park. Use to live in the area. Great trail. Really nice- and picturesque. Public restrooms in the main area where the parking lot is and other areas along the trail. Also some water fountains (one dog too) available throughout the trail -launches and Bike lock ups throughout. Few places to eat along the water closer to the middle area and the ferry. Small parks along the trail like Friendship and Vincent. Picnic areas and grills also available -farmers market on Sundays in the main lot On the down side it can get pretty crowded on some summer and spring days- also there tends to be alot of geese poop imo. Btw in the spring the weeds and foxtails can get out of control in the beach areas but the parks staff will usually take care of it at some point. The workers are pretty friendly and the regular dog walkers or runners will usually say hello to them. Many people bike on the trail in the weekend- can get crowded. read more

A very nice park in Richmond!! This park is very clean and well maintained. There are large grassy areas along with paved trails throughout. And it's right next to the Bay Trail and Marina Bay. I've come here because it's a great place to run next to the water, you can get some good miles in on the Bay Trail here. I've even ran a few races here, a nice and flat course. You have the Rosie The Riviter historical monument here. The parking lot is big enough, there are clean restrooms here, and on a nice sunny day, this is a great place to be!! read more

I LOVE this whole area and the trail along the bay. It's the perfect place to get out and exercise, whether running, walking, or biking. It's flat and everyone you encounter seem so friendly. The plants are gorgeous and they have lots of benches available to sit at if you need a break. Such a special place to enjoy the bay and you can often get beautiful views of San Francisco. read more

I was almost hesitant writing this review since I don't want to spread the word of this amazing hidden gem. Having lived in the Bay Area for the first 25 years of my life, I had no idea this place even existed. And considering that this is in Richmond of all places, many people flock to the more popular scenic areas such as San Francisco, Sausalito, Tiburon, and Oakland. However, "Marina Bay Park" deserves much praise and after visiting here, I definitely want to come back again. I ended up coming here over Labor Day weekend with my life for a little weekend getaway. We ended up reserving an Airbnb house which was only a 5-minute walk from this place. Located less than a mile from the 580 freeway and adjacent to Marina Bay Pkwy and Regatta Blvd., this place is in the heart of Point Richmond where this community flourished with new homes back in the 1990's. The park itself is a perfect setting for taking a jog, riding your bike, and walking your dog while spending a relaxing afternoon on the long paved road. The weather can vary greatly as this lies directly at the San Francisco Bay. On any given day, you might get strong winds, a heavy blanket of fog, or on the day my lady and I went, a strong ray of sunshine. I would definitely recommend bringing extra warm clothes just in case. On the coastal part of Marina Bay Park, there are fisherman on any given day. They do have a small sandy beach area but I do warn that its not suitable for swimming with the rocks and strong waves. On the park side, there are plenty of fixed barbecue pits, picnic tables, a playground for the kids, clean public restrooms, and a grassy field that is large enough if you wanted to play soccer or football. It's also ideal if you wanted to do something more low-key such as having a picnic and/or flying a kite. But what really sold me on this place was the view! On a clear day, you will be able to see the skylines of Oakland and San Francisco as well as the Oakland/San Francisco Bay Bridge and the Golden Gate Bridge. Additionally, there are a ton of sailboats, ships, and other watercraft on any given day. And keep a heads up since there are a ton of seagulls out here. The views are priceless and a great, therapeutic way to relax and enjoy your day at the bay. Overall, this hidden gem is everything I expected it to be and much, much more. This is my favorite place to unwind after a long and hectic day. There is something about walking near the water that is calm and sooothing and while going to my favorite spot, Lake Merrit, is out of the question, this isn't a bad place for my daily stroll. I love the atmosphere here, the people seem nice, and all and all, the walk was good. As the weather warms up, I will go there more and more. The funny thing is that I only started coming here a few years ago. Before 2008, I didn't know that it existed. But I'm glad that it does and that I can take a nice walk along the path. I also get a kick out of the markers that tell the history of the area. Richmond was a rocking good place to live in and has a beautiful history. My beloved Richmond marina bay park. This is one of the main reasons I have come to love east bay. Whenever I come here I whisper to myself, "I love it here." Just thinking about it makes me feel so much peace joy and love. Plenty of parking at the parks - shimada friendship park and the other one. No one really goes to the shimada park but rather they come to walk along the bay near the parks. I love how the trail is super close to the ocean, you can walk 10 feet and you would be able to dip your feet in the water. I've taken numerous photos here, so many beautiful ones. I love watching the seagulls fly above me and the magnificent pelicans and snowy egrets. The sunsets are to die for. The air is fresh and dewey, perfect for a spring, summer, fall and winter stroll. Not sure how cold it gets during the January-March months but April to June it was kinda cold and windy. Bring a thicker jacket if it's low 60s and below. Bring a medium to thin jacket if it's above that. Not too many people but enough to keep it interesting. I always see this one jogger there; whether I come on a weekend during the day or weekday after work, it's the person who wears a beanie, covers their eyes with sunglasses and their face and neck with a shawl, wears a sweater and sweats. Who are you? Anyway, I love it. I actually walked all the way to the where there is a street where Costco was, didn't like the end part because no one was really there and there was a huge homeless encampment there. But if you stick to the beginning and middle of the trail you will be enthralled and take delight in the beauty around you! read more

I have visited this beautiful Marina Park twice since my move , and it has made my move worth it . With covid , the fabric of our lives has changed drastically. However , it has encouraged many people to discover outdoor activities more than anything. This park is a great experience if you love water , boats , long walks and great eateries. Great for biking , family walks , pet walking , lunch breaks etc. You also run into many historical plaques , different breeds of flowers , children's play grounds and artistic sculptures . We have a very nice time riding our bicycles out here. We'll park here and ride all the way along the shores to Costco and then come back. Along the way sometimes we talk, sometimes we just enjoy the air and breezes and sights. It's nice to look out over the water and also see the boats in the harbor. There's everything from walkers to joggers to cyclists. In the water are boats, windsurfers, kiteboarders (or whatever they are called). There's a couple of parks for young kids to crawl and swing and play. Along the path there are frequent places to stop and sit down if needed, for a rest or just to stare off into distance. Bring some extra clothing, being right off the bay it can get a little cool and breezy at times. But regardless, its a great time. read more

Love the Marina been coming here since I was a kid. I remember my cousins and I bringing our scooters & bikes here & rolling around all day. It's always nice to take a walk around the water and take in the beautiful scenery. I came here today for an afternoon walk. I love that you can sit so close to the water front & watch the boats glide & birds fly across. It's so relaxing to walk the trails, watch the water & sit/lay in the grass. Its a great place to get some exercise & have family outings. There are BBQ pits, playgrounds, paved walkways for biking & areas where you can fish. There's plenty of space and seating so everyone isn't piled on top of one another. On a nice day the Marina provides the perfect atmosphere to clear your mind and enjoy the weather. Marina Bay Park is practically my backyard. More precisely, though, it's like my driveway. It's only mere minutes walking distance from my front door & the portion of the Bay Trail that skirts the harbor on the edge of Marina Bay Park is my workday bicycle commute home stretch. The entire Marina Bay neighborhood is a side of Richmond most people don't even know exists. I've even heard another Marina Bay resident refer to the area as the Richmond Riviera. Compared to other nearby communities on the Bay, from Sausalito all the way around to Emeryville, the fog generally burns off 1st here in the morning & rolls in last here in the evening. Besides a little more sunshine most days & being my personal driveway, Marina Bay Park has a lot more going on: gorgeous harbor & Bay views, a small sand beach, restrooms for the park (not to be confused with the restrooms solely for harbor residents living on boats), some bbq grills & picnic tables, a vast enough expanse of grass for soccer, & a decent-sized parking lot. Marina Bay Park also has the Rosie the Riveter Memorial, an art installation dedicated to the women's wartime labor effort here at home during WWII. Really, this, by itself, makes it worthwhile to visit this park. The shipyards of Richmond & the women who worked in them were crucial to the overall success of American forces abroad during that greatest of all wars. I feel lucky to have found such a nice, largely unknown & unexpected neighborhood in Richmond. A neighborhood with Marina Bay Park pretty much smack dab in the middle of it. Whether I'm bicycling to/ from work, out for a run, or strolling around enjoying the sun (& wind, it's always windy out here), I'm glad to see Marina Bay Park just about every single day. read more

I love love love this park and neighborhood. I go running/jogging/walking/biking on the SF bay trail, more than often. I love the wind, kids and people around. It has such a great sun light, views and every minute of it is breathtaking. If you want a long trail to run or walk or bike, this is a great place and it runs all way to the Costco and even further which I haven't explored yet. It is safe and friendly place. RICHMOND PD is nearby and a call away if there is some help you need. I have a 6-year old niece and she loves playing here. It is a clean, safe, and not overly crowded park. Complete with paved roads to jog, bike, or walk/run your dog. It's close to the road so there is some car traffic, but overall quiet. I love it because I'm surrounded by trees and get to escape the city for the moments I get to run. There is free and accessible parking that I never have to fight for. I also discovered that there's a two court tennis court complete with 4 metal benches (2 on each side). The metal is great to sit on after a long match to cool off. If you're into night tennis matches, there's ample lighting here. There's also 2 water fountains if you forget your water bottles. This is a nice alternative when I just want some peace and quiet. read more

I have to be careful. It's the neighborhood so giving it too much praise will cause more folks to come to this hidden gem of Richmond. But because it is so nice and Richmond has such a poor reputation: crime, gangs, poor economy, and heavy industrial (Detroit on the bay) that it is such a hidden and not often discussed gem I am compelled to give some props. I was an early adopter back in the late 80's as this area was being developed. I'm very proud of the prudent and careful urban planning development and patience given to the whole area. As pockets developed and start to connect it's very easy to see why this is becoming a destination area for boating, biking and eating as well as living and working. We used to joke that this was Marin east because a lot of folks who initially moved to live or start their business came from there (Pixar has origins here you know). I remember back in the day siting at the bar at Hawthornes (now Salute) and listening to many in the local government and potential developers discuss the grand plans for the area. One local architect said something that holds true today, waterfront property with that view of one of the worlds destination city's and access to all of what Makes the Bay Area vital (world class university's, championship sports Franchises, gateway to pacific rim, innovation, wine country, etc) may take time to see the result but one day this area could be a major gem on the crown of the bay. Many yelpers agree. Other than windy blustery days in summer (which if you live inland can mean 30-40 degree temperature swings) and navigating the geese and ducks and often too serious bikers trying to maximize heart rates on the connecting bay trail, this is a nice beautifully crafted oasis, with the best views of the bay (from Berkeley to Marin with the city in the middle). read more

This park is on the sightseeing list when family come to visit. I bring them to view the Rosie the Riveter Memorial. Lovely spot right along the water. Plenty of free parking. I was here in August 2015 for the Rosie Rally, to break the record of the most females dressed as Rosie's, for the Guinness World Record. This was a huge event, and this park was quite adequate with a variety of tents set up and a large open area to 'corral' all the Rosie's in for the final count. There was well over 1000 Rosie's and a few hundred spectators, so definitely, lots of room. Only three stars because there are no restrooms and there is goose crap all over this park. You'd best watch your step, or you most certainly will be needing to wash your shoes. tip....do NOT go barefoot. Consider yourself warned! read more

A definite visit if you're in the East Bay! This park has at least a half day's activities which could include a visit to the memorial, walking/biking on the bay trail, marina, and other activities in the National Park. In the era of World War II, the site of the current Marina Bay in Richmond was the location of the Kaiser Shipyards. It is fascinating to imagine that, back during that era, a homegrown effort that included women (i.e. the famous "Rosies") built 747-type ships for the Second World War effort. "Rosie" was reportedly part real-life person and part propaganda by the government to recruit women into the munitions industry. At the height of the effort to build ships in Richmond, women made up about 27% of the 93,000-strong workforce. Marina Bay park is in the area that once was the #2 shipyard. There is a unique memorial for Rosie the riveter in the park that emulates one of the ships they used to build; there are sculptures, photos, and other stuff one can see as one walks from the park to the shore. I was impressed that this Marina was a great jumping off point to walk along the trail, explore visitor's center, and learn about the World War II effort in Richmond. The situation is even better here because of the ample parking, accessibility, clean restrooms, and great ocean views. I think if they had some great coffee shops around this Marina I would be here all the time. read more

I am so torn about writing about Marina Bay Park here on Yelp because it's so awesome, and I want to keep it all to myself! Taking a step back, saying out loud the words "Port Richmond" does not conjure up images of serene bay views and peaceful walks, but that is exactly what it entails. The walk has ample green space with lovely ducks (but watch out for the poop). There's also a nice path to walk all around the marina. The old shipyard buildings are beautiful structures and make for a fun background. There's also the Rosie the Riverter memorial, so don't miss that. Families, couples and just anyone who wants fresh air go to this area to enjoy the peace and quiet. People are also taking boats out, so it's nice to see that. But, lastly, the view of the Bay is the best part of the park. Enjoy! read more

Beautiful park, amazing views. Has some of the best kite-surfing opportunities in the bay imo. There are a few "beach" areas, though be careful for rocks and there is some broken glass. Great place for large BBQs, but be mindful as many do not pick up after themselves. On the nicest days, it can get a little crowded and there is decent availability for parking for non-residents of the area. You have to be on your toes since kids are all over the place (often on motorized bikes or scooters) and lightly supervised. There are signs everywhere for dogs to be ON-leash and to pick up after them, but both of these are followed maybe 50% of the time. We walk around this park 2-3x/day and see at least one dog off-leash per walk. The most common phrase dog-owners say to us is "don't worry, he's friendly" though they don't seem to understand other peoples dogs are not always so and some people do not like to be approached by ANY dog (particularly big ones, this is for you 100+lb retrievers). Police do not enforce either law, they will drive right by people with off leash dogs.They won't care until someone kicks/stun guns someones pet, or lets their on-leash dog eat someone's off-leash dog for lunch. Just a news story waiting to happen here. Awesome bike trails, though few bicyclists use a bell or holler they are coming. I have had the most enjoyment running vs. cycling. Take the trail north or south of the park and it is very windy most days, awesome for flying a kite or getting cooled off it its hot in the park itself. Always ducks and geese to watch! Fishing is decent along most of the marina as well. Lots of variety though it is difficult to get to the best spots if the tide is high. Overall great park and surrounding area for outdoor activity. If people could be more courteous and respectful, obeying basic posted laws and clean up after themselves, it would be one of the best city park areas in California. read more

Absolutely beautiful and a great place to run. I feel safe here even at night. Very well maintained, very cute community living here. Admittedly, it feels a little sterile, probably because it is. Maria Bay is built on fill, meaning the land doesn't really exist. Meh. The trees and grass are obviously imported, but whatever. They always look good in that clean suburban way. Have a picnic here. Richmond is not really known for its nice areas but they DO EXIST! Take a walk along the marina and enjoy the beautiful view of the bay! I usually take night runs and the view during my runs are very pleasant! It is located around a gated community and it has well lit areas but I still suggest if you're a woman that you go with a runnings partner! The day time you can BBQ in some areas and there's plenty of grass for kids to play in or play a little soccer. There's also a little play area with sand for the kids to enjoy. Rosie the Riviter museum is also located in this area. Some restaurants suchs as BoilerHouse and some others are located here as well. For a easy lazy Sunday come check this little diamiond in the rough located in Richmond. You can bring a bike and take the trail which I heard takes you all the way to Costco to Emeryville. It's one of my favotire spots for when I need to getaway and need time for myself. It can get chilly so bring a sweater just in case or bring "man's best friend" for a walk. You'll see people walking along the trails day or night =D read more

Great walking trail for individuals or families. Sometimes the cyclists the trail is shared with can be a little snarky but for the most part they are polite. I'm sensitive to the cold so my only wish is that the breeze coming in off of the water weren't so chilly. I love the view across the bay on clear days and there are random benches along the trail that one can sit and enjoy the view or just have a quiet moment to oneself. read more

The clear highlight of the park is an exhibit memorializing the contributions of women to the war effort in WWII by highlighting the work done at the Kaiser Richmond Shipyards by the Rosie the Riveters. Although there are nice story boards along the bay trail shoreline, the best historical exhibits are at the Marina Park at Marina Bay Parkway and Regatta Blvd. read more

This is actually a very nice park. Grass is green and there's no visible dog poop anywhere. The grass is green, it's peaceful overlooking the Marina, has ample parking but they have porta-potties. It looks like they're in the process of installing a bathroom so hopefully that will get done sooner. read more
