I've always wanted to spend more time in Luquillo, and after seeing the consistently high ratings on Expedia and TripAdvisor--along with its beachfront location--I decided to give it a try. The property itself is older, but don't let that deter you. The rooms were exceptionally clean, comfortable, and well-maintained, which made for a very relaxing stay. I loved the balcony and watching the ocean from so close! Beautiful sunrise too. Check-in is more laid-back, so don't expect a traditional front desk experience with someone always present. That said, the communication was excellent. I really appreciated that they reached out via text ahead of time to ask about my arrival--it was a thoughtful touch. I arrived earlier than the standard check-in time (as I had mentioned), and there were no issues at all. When I rang the bell, a staff member promptly came out to assist me and greeted me with a warm smile. There's also a very popular restaurant and bar on-site with an amazing-looking menu. Unfortunately, we didn't get the chance to try it this time, but it's definitely on the list for our next visit. The location is another big plus--easy to find, right on the beach, and conveniently close to a Walgreens and other nearby beaches to explore. The downside - it does NOT look like what is advertizied. The cushions on all the seats and lounge chairs are old and stained and were soaking wet so could barely use them, the pool was dirty and had to request it to be cleaned, the trash was overflowing when we arrived, the ice maker was not working, the in room massage was expensive for what we got, there is no safe passage to the beach, the outdoor furniture is not well maintained, no umbrellas, furniture old and outdated. I would not return unless they did a massive update.

Make reservations before you go and get there before 11pm, as the lobby, check in area is only staffed until that time when there are no reservations scheduled. There is only a select few who can afford this place and well, I love to network so this was perfection! We met so many other couples. The families complaint was it was for couples and old people. The level of service here is truly something else! As soon as we arrived, several Embajadores were already waiting to welcome us and help with our luggage. We were immediately offered cold, refreshing towels, and someone personally guided us to the front desk. It was such a warm welcome and the perfect start to our first stay here. A special shoutout to Thalia, who was the sweetest! She made sure we were comfortable and taken care of while we waited for our room. We were also greeted with a delicious popsicle, which was such a nice touch after arriving in the Puerto Rico heat. Thalia then introduced us to Malenny, who took care of us throughout our entire stay. I believe she was our personal Embajadora, and she was amazing! I was able to stay in contact with her during our entire visit, and she constantly checked in to make sure everything was going well. She accommodated every request we had and was always so kind and helpful. She truly made us feel spoiled! We also had breakfast at COA, where Tiffany took great care of us. She was so friendly and made sure we knew about all the different food and options the restaurant had to offer. Even when it was time to leave, the amazing service continued. Garry helped us with our luggage and even gave us a car freshener before we left! It was such a simple but thoughtful gesture and another example of the attention to detail at this property. I honestly wish I had gotten everyone's names because every single person we encountered made us feel genuinely welcomed and cared for. When I arrived I was checked in and given a tour of the attractive property by the staff member on duty. My room was spacious and comfortable along with the bathroom that had a shower in it. The ac worked well too. The TV was a smaller screen that I think was less than 32" and was mounted high up on the wall so TV watching could be better. The room had a small refrigerator in it. Shortly after checking in I received a series of text messages from the owner regarding information about Isabel II such as restaurants nearby, grocery stores, taxi info, tour companies, etc, which was helpful. Bravo Beach is well maintained with 2 freshwater pools and less than 20 rooms all with outdoor facing entrances. It is located directly on the water with a beach but swimming is not allowed or desired from the shell beach however the beach is available for walking. The hotel does offer the free use of beach supplies like coolers and folding chairs, etc. if you need them. They do have their own small parking lot and more parking next to the hotel but I'm not sure they have enough parking if all of their rooms are full. The hotel is located about a 6-7 minute walk from the ferry terminal. If I returned to Vieques I would be happy to stay at Bravo Beach Hotel again.

As always, I conducted a bunch of research, some say too much but they always ask me to find things for them... The name for the Hacienda Tamarindo is derived from Tamarindo trees on the property. If you go to Vieques there is a ferry they run all day. Ticket was two dollars. Vieques is a nature preserve so expect to see horses everywhere on the island. Oh yeah, roosters too. You need a rental car on the island. Well, at least I would recommend one and am glad I had one. There is no way to see the beaches without a vehicle. Hacienda Tamarindo will reserve your rental for you if you ask. Be aware that you may not want to arrive on the island before the rental company opens. If I'm ever on Vieques I will stay at the Hacienda Tamarindo.

Lots of kind kitties everywhere Hacienda Tamarindo had some great amenities. - the hotel booked our rental car so it was waiting for us when we got to the hotel - you can request they make lunch for you. When we woke up they had it ready to go in a cooler for us - breakfast is included, it not a buffet either, it's a nice sit down breakfast and they serve you - the pool is open 24/7. It has a cute fountain and again great views of the beach - each room comes with a hard side cooler you can take to the beach. - there is an honor bar where you can make your own drinks - you can rent snorkeling gear, beach chairs and umbrellas from them.

A little upset that I tried it on my last visiting day because I should've been eating here everyday from the start! That's how great it is. I believe I ordered the shank! It looked too good to eat haha. Very juicy and tender. The rice and beans had a delicious flavor. The hotel in itself is very unique and remarkable in itself. It truly feels local to the island and its history. The architecture is breathtaking. I specifically enjoyed the rooftop with optional seating and a jacuzzi/pool. I enjoyed that there were too many people in the hotel during my stay which allowed my visit to be more intimate with the locals/area and the intricate designs the hotel offered. It was also a plus that coffee and tea was offered in the morning. I was especially happy with the oat milk option.
