Outstanding!! The rooms were clean and spacious and had highly effective air conditioning, a godsend in the July Puerto Rican heat. Mind, the rooms are basic, but well decorated and include soap and shampoo. Perfect for those looking to spend more time out of their room than on it. La Pared, a beach with waves begging to be surfed or boogie-boarded is literally a stone's throw away, across the street and the hotel provides complimentary beach towels. Chairs and boogie boards are available for rent on the cheap. We spent a day on the beach and had a blast. Then when you just want to watch the waves you can hang out on the second story patio and bask in the sun. Within walking distance there are at least three fantastic restaurants, and the hotel provides breakfast every morning which saved us a considerable chunk of change. The hotel is also gated, which feels nice even though the area itself didn't feel particularly rough. It's surrounded by beach rentals on both sides and there is a condo just down the road. I can't say enough about how amazing the staff was, friendly and knowledgeable about what to do and when to do it. We were given a map and advice in the best way to get around, including how to avoid construction. Super helpful. 10/10 would stay again! Luquillo is perfectly situated away from the bustle of San Juan, but close enough for easy day trips, and super close to Fardajo which is where you can catch ferries and flights to some of the best beaches in the world!! Go for it! You won't be disappointed!

Friendly place right across from the beach in Luquillo great staff very friendly and offering up information of local areas to go they serve a great breakfast on the deck oh and being able to open the door with the sound of the waves crashing outside is great while the town may have a few issues, the people in this area are friendly while there is not a bar per se on the premises about a block away is a friendly little bar/grill with great food an drink We called it our lobby bar :)

Stayed here for 3 days while on this side of the island. The room was very clean and staff was very nice. They also offered information on things to do near by. The breakfast was so basic however if you pay $5 per person they would cook breakfast such as pancakes, eggs and bacon or sausage but I felt like that should have been included since it's a small hotel. So we paid for one day and found a couple other places for breakfast. As far as the room we have a queen bed (really the size of a full) with ocean view. The location is great right across the street from the hotel ...plus a lot of restaurants and bars in walking distance. We lucked out since there was a festival for the weekend right out side. They have their own parking lot with remote entry. The best part of the hotel is the location if you love the beach like I do. This hotel is good for a nIght or two but I probably wouldn't stay here for a week.

My sister and I stayed here for two nights and it was absolutely lovely, from the location to the staff. It is beach front and steps from Playa Pared. There is also a gated parking area for hotel guests. Complimentary breakfast was included and every day they would have a new hot dish along with continental. They had omelettes and coconut French toast stuffed with cream cheese as the hot dishes while we were there. There was a minor issue with our keys card not working but the staff was helpful and it wasn't really a problem. I would definitely recommend staying here!

    So close to the beach!

Very nice place! The people were very friendly and the rooms are very clean. The location is great as it is right on the beach. There are plenty of food places and grocery stores very close by. The breakfast in the morning is good as well. Overall, this is a nice place and I would stay there again in a heartbeat!

Very nice place to Stay in Puerto Rico. Near the rain forest and steps from the beach. The Inn gets its name from the view of the sunrise from your room! Not near very many restaurants or shopping so pack your food and drinks and have a picnic on the beach!

Loved this quint little hotel! From the friendly staff who always greeted us by name, to the clean and spacious rooms that had such a breathtaking view, to the delicious complimentary coconut French toast this hotel made us feel like we were at a resort! Will definitely make this our stay when we return to this part of the island!

Nice place- Spartan and very clean. Food is good, beach view worth a million!

Awesome place- spartan but clean. Staff outstanding, food is simple , but good. Ask for the homemade hot sauce! Nice location- near the waves from room. Cons- some traffic noise at night- maybe not a great place to walk five mile beach at night, safe during the day.

We recently stayed at the Rainforest Inn during our trip to Puerto Rico, and I want to share our…read morehonest experience both the good and the bad. This is simply our experience, and I'm not interested in debating or defending how we felt. To start with the positives: before booking, I read many reviews and was excited about supporting what appeared to be a small business run by a husband and wife. The property itself is absolutely beautiful , truly breathtaking scenery. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and surprisingly cool despite there being no air conditioning. The cooling system on the beds was amazing. We also did the hike on the property, which was beautiful and definitely one of the highlights of our stay. The wife was incredibly pleasant, welcoming, and knowledgeable about hospitality. She made us feel comfortable from the beginning. Unfortunately, several interactions with the husband left us feeling uncomfortable throughout our stay. Each morning, coffee and tea were offered to guests. One morning, since we planned to hike, we politely declined coffee multiple times. Despite saying no several times, the offer continued in a way that felt oddly tense, as though our declining offended him. During conversation, he openly mentioned that his wife often tells him he comes across as rude. He also praised her hospitality skills, and honestly, I completely agreed with him on that point. What really unsettled me happened when we were signing waivers for the hike. He handed me the waiver with a pen attached. After I passed the paperwork to my husband, my husband reached for the pen, and instead of handing it to him directly, the pen was tossed toward him. Whether intentional or not, the interaction immediately rubbed me the wrong way and changed the energy for me completely. For context, we are a Black couple, and while I cannot say what anyone's intentions were, some of the interactions throughout our stay felt uncomfortable enough that it became hard not to notice. Especially in the way my husband was treated at times. Another example: he offered to send horseback riding information to me. Since I didn't have my phone nearby, I asked twice for the information to be sent to my husband instead. Despite that, the information was still sent to me. The final issue involved the laundry area. We were washing a small load of clothes and some towels during the allowed hours. A few minutes into drying, he opened the dryer himself, removed my personal clothing including bras and underwear -- and left them sitting on top of the washer. He later sent a text saying the dryer was overloaded and making noise, although the load was not packed tightly and was smaller than the load left behind by the previous guests. What bothered me most was not the concern about the machine, but the fact that my personal undergarments were handled instead of simply asking us to adjust the load ourselves. None of these incidents individually caused a confrontation because we chose to remain respectful and calm throughout our stay. However, taken together, they left a stain on what otherwise could have been an excellent experience. Afterward, I revisited some of the lower rated reviews and noticed that several other guests also mentioned discomfort with the husband's demeanor and communication style. I also noticed responses to criticism often seemed defensive. Again, this review is not written to argue with the owners or invite debate from strangers online. This was our experience, and no one gets to tell us how we should feel about the interactions we had during our stay.

Our wedding was in December, and it's now almost February--still no response from the venue or the owner. The issue? We paid extra for a higher-tier bar package, only to find that our bar signage was hidden, and the bartender had no idea how to make any of the drinks. Classic cocktails like Old Fashioneds and Negronis were made poorly (when they were made at all), and in the end, most guests resorted to drinking only wine, champagne, or beer--completely negating the premium package we paid for. We made menus for the drinks and they magically disappeared. To make matters worse, we were previously assured via email that the bartender was experienced, only to later find out that they were hired the day before the event. This level of unprofessionalism is unacceptable. We reached out multiple times to resolve this fairly, including requesting a partial refund for a service we didn't receive. We were met with silence. Someone on Instagram keeps telling us that "someone will reach out," yet here we are, still waiting. If you're considering this venue, be warned: they have no problem taking your money, but when an issue arises, they disappear. We expected better, and at the very least, a response. Mind you, the location is spectacular but the fact that they hired someone without experience to work a wedding is shady and unfair to the guests and couple who paid out of pocket to make this an experience. It was an experience but not one that we smile about when it comes to talking about the bar saturation . 90% of guests are all industry people. Thanks for not responding. I tried.

ALL-TIME BEST B&B! Two days before my wife and I arrived at Casa Encanto, Hurricane Ernesto formed right over this side of Puerto Rico, knocking out power across the island. Trees and power lines were down everywhere, rivers flooded, and bridges in El Yunque National Forest were washed out. Despite this, canceling was not an option. We had a 4x4 Jeep Wrangler and a determination to enjoy our 25th wedding anniversary. When we pulled up to Casa Encanto, Lisa and Ryan greeted us with frozen mojitos in custom strawed Casa Encanto Yeti Ramblers--It tasted unlike every mojito I have ever had before, though surely it was one of the most delicious frozen concoctions I have ever sucked down a tube! During our tour, Ryan confirmed that Luquillo had lost power but assured us it wouldn't be an issue at Casa Encanto due to their solar panels and Tesla batteries. He was right--the house remained fully powered for our entire stay. When you stay here, it's just you and your significant other--no other guests on the property. You'll have the entire private downstairs floor of this three-story house, right next to your own swimming pool and rainforest gardens. The space is fully equipped with everything you need, including a kitchen that you'll likely never use, thanks to the incredible meals provided daily. Trust me, the portions are generous--you'll definitely have enough leftovers for a second meal. Speaking of the food, Lisa and Ryan treated us to five incredible meals at Casa Encanto: Coconut Guava Monte Cristo: Brioche dipped in coconut custard, turned into French toast, and stuffed with Swiss cheese, ham, and turkey. Topped with powdered sugar and a guava sauce drizzle. Lisa thoughtfully served the coconut on the side for me. It was simply incredible. Lump Crab & Shrimp Cakes Benedict: A poached egg with lemon butter caper sauce atop a crab and shrimp cake on sautéed spinach and an English muffin. Quite possibly the best crab cake I've ever had. Breaded Breakfast Cereal Steak w/Biscuits & Sausage Gravy: Milanesa steak breaded in Kellogg's Corn Flakes, pan-fried, and served with biscuits and sausage gravy. This meal broke into my top five chicken fried steaks list, the only one outside Texas to do so! El Yunque Omelette: A three-egg omelet with sautéed tomatoes, asparagus, baby spinach, portobellos, red onions, poblanos, and cilantro, filled with sharp cheddar and topped with avocado slices and spicy mayo. To be honest, my wife got this and I never took bite, but she loved it. Looked amazing. Steak & Lobster Claws Dinner: As a surprise bonus meal for staying four nights at Casa Encanto, we were served an amazing steak dinner... coconut mashed potatoes, roasted mushrooms, Filet Mignon drizzled with au jus, crowned with lobster knuckles in garlic butter, and a triple chocolate mousse cake for dessert. I ate all of my steak and half of my wife's, and it was so freaking perfect that I almost cried. The slice of cake was so good and rich that it took me over two days to finish it. Every breakfast was served with fruit from their orchard and a bellini, and one morning, we opted for the fresh mango smoothie, made with mangos from their orchard. There is so much more to say about Casa Encanto and Ryan & Lisa - I could gush on and on, but I'm going to wrap it up because you probably have stopped reading up to this point, anyway... On our way checking out, we opted to purchase two of those custom strawed Casa Encanto Yeti Ramblers I mentioned earlier in this review, but on the condition that Lisa include a Piña Colada in them. When I asked Ryan a few days earlier who made the best Piña Colada in Puerto Rico, without reservation he replied, "My wife!" I think he may be wrong, though... That was the best Piña Colada I've had ANYWHERE!

Bellavista Bed and Breakfast is the best place to stay on Saint Thomas and let me tell you why. Location: The bed and breakfast is halfway up a sizable hill, so you get a clear view of the cruise ship harbor, the ocean, and all of Charlotte Amelie, the second biggest town on the island. It's far enough away from downtown that you can't really hear it, but close enough that a quick 5 minute walk will get you where you want to go. Facilities: An amazing house with surprisingly strong security; if she didn't point it out to you, you wouldn't notice it at all. The house is very open during the day and locked up tight at night time. The house itself is gorgeous with a lovely open living room and a balcony off the kitchen where Wendy, the owner, serves her amazing breakfasts (more on that later). There is a private deck side pool for when you want to skip coki beach and just be somewhere quiet. The rooms are just what you need, and she keeps them immaculate. Breakfast: Prepared to be blown away. My wife and I are pretty used to hotel continental breakfasts: contrasted with Wendy's food the hotels are serving you rubbish. Wendy prepares beautiful meals with fresh fruit, everything made from scratch, and frequently with self made smoothies. Breakfast isn't something you'd ever expect to be this good; for us it was the best part of everyday, and we had some really good days. Wendy: Yeah she's an amenity all by herself. She's incredibly friendly, very funny, and gives you the most personal service you've ever had. She knows practically everything about the island and what to do, she knows exactly who and when to call for cabs, and on top of this runs the whole B&B almost single handedly. She's one of the nicest people you will ever meet. All in all you're going to be getting an experience better than some of the activities on the island you'll be booking. Wouldn't you rather have an amazing experience you can rely on everyday than just the regular old hotel trip? I would, and I am so glad I stayed here.

Not only were they friendly and accommodating but they went above and beyond what you would normally expect from a regular B&B in the states. When we booked our trip in March, it was with Kathleen, but when we arrived it was the new owners, Eileen and John, who greeted us. Every thing had been handled so seamlessly that, if they had not told us of their new occupation as inn owners, we would not have known there had been a hand-off. From the helpful hospitality and excellent breakfasts, to the morning greeting of Fiona and Cooper (their dogs), we found this garden by the sea a genuine West Indies experience.

We had never been to Luquillo (or Puerto Rico), so we didn't know what to expect. We had been…read moreroad-tripping around the island for about 10 days and Luquillo was our final destination. At first glance, it didn't seem like much was going on in the area. We were a bit concerned. We were a few hours early before our scheduled arrival, but we decided to check out where the hotel was to get our bearings. While doing so, we ended up meeting Dylan the owner. Super nice, awesome guy. Originally from the mainland. He was kind enough to let us check in early because the room was available. This was unexpected and certainly welcomed! The room was GREAT. SUPER clean, SUPER modern. VERY nicely decorated. Lots of little touches to make it so welcoming: robes, beach towels, yoga mats, beach chairs. Dylan sure knows how to decorate. Good water pressure, nice hot water, beautiful tile work, comfy memory foam bed, great sheets and blankets. We stayed on the top floor. Directly outside was a community deck with lights, a couple picnic tables, and some hammock chairs. The ocean and beach is LITERALLY steps away. You can hear the waves. It is incredibly relaxing. We spent time on the beach, which was very quiet. It was just us, some surfers, and a little flock of pelicans that provided HOURS of entertainment. A few minutes walk in one direction (along the beach) is a laid back restaurant called Boardriders. They served up really good fish tacos (mahi) and churrasco sandwiches. You sit and have your meal right along the beach. It's super chill and awesome. About 500 feet away from the Surfing Turtle is a little breakfast and lunch walk-up place. Super cheap prices and great breakfast sandwiches. There's also a nice restaurant directly across the street. El Yunque is only about a 15 minute drive away (book reservations ahead of time bc of COVID!!!!). Big line of 50+ kioskos were also about 10 minutes drive away. Across the road (about 5 min drive) there is a KFC, McDonalds, Wendy's, Walgreens, and a grocery store called Amigo (not a Walmart, as Maps suggests). After some hesitation because of the few reviews of the Surfing Turtle, this stay ended up being our favorite out of a 10 day trip. The location right on the beach is perfect. The owner is so great. The rooms were so clean and modern. Has a hostel feel, not a chain all-inclusive. Mix of all ages staying there, mostly on the younger side, but we are in our 40s and didn't feel like we were the "old people" haha. Highly recommend if you are looking for a modern, chill place in Luquillo with a great, quiet beach right behind it. We definitely would stay here again.

We loved our stay. We only needed to be there for a night but we were so impressed. Great…read morecommunication from the hosts and super clean. Had we needed to stay longer, the room would have had anything we needed. Hot water and awesome shower too. Great location for walking to dinner and breakfast. A little beach for laying out at or surf lessons are close by too. Easy to get a taxi or uber too. Our stay was great.
