It instantly transports me to somewhere in Europe and there are lots of plants to touch, smell, and otherwise explore. It also is adjacent to this cute greenhouse building. I'd love to return with a camera and a few rolls of film. The view of West Point from the back of the gardens is breathtaking. We visited on a Sunday and the back lawn was completely empty. We sat down and fed the baby with that magnificent view in the back. It was so blissful and perfect.

The main building was actually relocated to this site from further south and has a rich history of the initial construction, gradual decay, disassembly, resurrection, catastrophic damage, and aggressive renovation. The main plaster/cement ceiling in the upstairs library actually crashed down one evening a few years ago and damaged much of the home with plaster dust. Fortunately, charitable contributions have helped to restore most of the site as a 2026, except for vintage-era wallpaper and some furniture. We were fortunate to visit after a winter of intensive renovation, which allowed us to get a much better sense of the home. Displays in the adjacent visitor's center and grounds provide some interesting history, but you should really time your arrival to take a tour led by one of the volunteer docents. It is a beautiful home, which I would give 5-stars to if renovations were complete.

A lovely shop by creatives for creatives…read more Loved this store! It made me want to buy everything because it was all displayed so beautifully. Walking into the store immediately it's clear that the owners are artists themselves with a discerning eye for colors, textures, and design compositions. They sell a variety of art supplies and stationary and also hold art classes. The product displays included not only the products themselves but also samples of art that could be created with them. Mini pages of dabbled watercolors lent an air of inspiration with their translucent ombré tones. Dried flowers and twigs, bright warm-shades of fall leaves brought nature into the store and made prime still life subject matter. You could tell the owners put a lot of creative energy and passion into this space. Though I didn't have much direct interaction with the staff, I overheard them helping other customers and providing recommendations. Definitely recommend stopping by in Cold Spring.

Dear SFCL, Thank you…read morefor existing, walking into this cute little shop was so inspirational and instantly gave me the sense that Michaels does (but way more). Basically when I walked in, I knew I was in the right place, the right spot at the right time. It just feels right. From the decor, to the carefully sorted arts and crafts supplies to the beautiful window art to all the artsy things. I want to own the whole store and every single pencil, eraser, paper - well you get it - that's in here. It's a place for inspiration, nostalgia, dopamine and pure JOY walking into here. The smell of art and creativity just gets you on a creative high and inspired. Consider me a big fan and fellow creative always looking to feel inspired and creating. Um, can I like move here?
