Their price was a bit high but they were super responsive to email and phone. Ultimately I drove 4 hours to save some money with another dealer. Huge mistake!!! The other dealer kept my boat for 3 weeks (supposed to be 3 days) and rigged the boat in such a poor manor that I ended up bringing my boat to Terpstra's to get fixed correctly. They promptly worked me into their schedule, re rigged the boat correctly, quickly and for a very fare price. Plus they provided detailed paperwork and that helped me get some money back from the original Suzuki dealer I worked with. Terpstra Marine is honest and hard working. They got me back on the water quickly and added a lot of value and safety to my boat. At the end of the season I got the boat winterized by Terpstra and again they treated me like family. I will never take my boat to another dealer. These guys are awsome!!!

I felt that since I…read moredid not purchase my boat from terpstra's I didn't get the customer service they would have given had I would have put that money in their pockets rather than another companies. They weren't rude, they just weren't overly friendly. And I spent a pretty good bit on just minor things. The products are quality, and nice, but I think next time I would rather go to Cabela's where people are a lot more friendly. When we spoke the first time we talked about his daughter and her being in the medical field I'm not going to say it was specifically what she does and where she worked and I won't disclose that either. But it's the fact that I listen to him he just really didn't listen to me. That's how I felt. Today of course I walked up to the front counter where his brother was, and he was very nice. He walked me back to where the salesperson was I asked him questions he hurried through it and said he had to go and catch a phone call. He never came back. The lady up front and his brother also helped me as much as they could. He came back out I asked him another question. Again he hurried through it and kind of brushed me off. He doesn't know if I actually would purchase a boat from them next time or not. so when he came to the counter the last time and still didn't really acknowledge me but made sure to tell the lady up front that he was losing out on money because he didn't have a specific item in stock. That was it for me. I won't buy an expensive boat from them because I do not feel like I am acknowledged or appreciated in this establishment. I wish there was another boat sales, service, and maintenance place close. But since thes not, I will just be going somewhere else. Unless it's something really minor that I can pick up from here. I'm just one of those people that like to be able to converse and get a little bit more information on things that I do not know about. I don't like feeling like I'm just another customer that needs to hurry up and buy. I bought two mounts because I didn't know which one to get. And I felt like he just didn't care. It's really disheartening, Especially when I don't know what I'm looking for. They seem to know what they're talking about but don't really help you to understand the things that you need. And until they can do that and make me feel like a valued customer I don't think I would patronize this business again. This was the main reason I left last week and purchased the boat itself elsewhere.

We walked in, not to be greeted by anyone, so we walked around looking at the boats ourself. Whenever someone actually came over and helped us, the guy was an asshole. We asked about a particular boat that we saw on the website and he told us it had been sold A MONTH AGO!!!! We even told him the ad was still up for it he said that he knew.... wtf. So we asked about other boats there and he said that NONE OF THE BOATS (like 20) WERE FOR SALE!!!!!!! How in the world are you a boat dealer but don't have any boats that we can buy. TAKE DOWN YOUR FUCKING ADS!!! The boats they did have there (weren't for sale of course) were dirty and weren't well kept. Drove over an hour to go look at boats for sale but only looked at dirty boats that WEREN'T for sale. DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE!!!

I never thought I would ever write a negative review about this place. I've stored my boat there…read moresince 2014. I've always had it stored over the winter and usually stored it there during the remainder of the year (in & out service, mostly in as we've taken in out less than 4 times a year on average. The motor has less than 35 hours on it and it's 10 years old). I usually work with Keith who is a super nice guy. I can't say the same about the owner. However, I had a not so pleasant experience with them recently. Last fall I dropped my boat off at their shop because it wouldn't start. I was told their mechanic spent a couple hours on it, could not find the problem. They told me the motor started (but didn't run well) but only when bypassing the ignition and wiring harness. I was told it was probably the harness and I'd have to take it to a Sylvan dealer. I was charged $200. I spent hours looking for a problem, a break in the wire, corrosion, etc. and didn't find anything. I contacted the closest dealer and since they don't stock the harness I had to pay for it in advance, about $425. After calling the Michigan (2 1/2 hours away) dealer I bought the boat from I decided to take it there. I was told it probably wasn't the harness since the boat is in almost new condition, only 30 hours on the motor. I took it there earlier this year. They found the issue in less than 10 minutes! It was the kill switch, a $30 part! They told me the motor ran very well. They checked everything over, repaired a few minor issues including replacing the horn. They charged me $385. I called the local dealer to inform them I didn't need the harness and I was charged a 20% restocking fee (approx. $85). So in total I incurred close to $700 for what turned out to be a $35 part!! I informed Keith and Steve of this and they offered $100 off winter storage! No apology! Absolutely ridiculous! Not only did they not find the simple issue, they told me it had to be the wiring harness. If I owned the shop I would have been embarrassed! I would have apologized , at minimum given a full refund or 50% off winter storage or maybe even winter storage on me! But not this place! I was a good customer for 10 years , spent thousands on storage , parts and some minor labor. Greed is a terrible thing. If this is how they treat a good customer of 10 years, I can only imagine how they're going to treat a new customer.

As easy going as I am, I still may not be the easiest customer to deal with being that I made SO MANY changes and customizations to the Crestliner I ordered. Rudie was knowledgeable and patient in all situations. I have purchased boats at other dealers and it's been a mixed bag (mostly painful). This was truly an enjoyable experience with added personal touches from the team. On the financing and deal closure side, Jody and Rich were fantastic. Jody obtained the tricky financing I requested, and made the deal closing most enjoyable. Additionally she is a walking boat regulation encyclopedia, and she provide amazing guidance on DNR regulations, Illinois government guidelines, etc. These are things I thought I knew already, as a seasoned tournament fisherman and watersport enthusiast, but found out I didn't know as much as I thought after meeting with Jody. She hooked us up so we be safe and legal at all times in my new beast Super Hawk Crestliner! Finally, Chris and David were the master technicians that installed my kicker motor and other complex modifications to this boat! Chris was very patient and informative in the boat walk through. My fingers were crossed all installation modifications would be done correctly. Well, they were! Thank you so much Basa's team!

I was looking to get the impeller replaced joe noticed the fuel filter needed replacing with fuel pump quick upcharge fine needs it get er done as they say. sent me vid of it running great, also mentioned trailer bearings need replacing. fine do that while it's there i like to support local business whenever possible Impeller was 8 yrs old other parts were original equipment super reliable motor. Everything fine till pickup paid over 1000 for probably 600 worth of work, but hey ya gotta pay to play. joe mentioned the tarp on the boat was blowing around. when i looked it was because they were too lazy to put the Bunge cords on to hold the tarp they were laying on the ground with the tarp stuffed in the boat. so i started putting the tarp on myself and had a cardiac event setting off my defibrillator 1st time in 2 yrs 4th since 2017 .should have gone and asked for help but was too stubborn. so i took several breaks and struggled on. Small things like putting the customers tarp back on matters. It shows as a business owner you care. myself being a business owner. would be like remodeling a kitchen and then taking the boxes from the cabinets and leaving them on the kitchen floor. if the amount of care taken with the tarp is any indication of the quality of the work done on my motor which is usually a pretty good indicator I'm in trouble.
