What I thought was a reservation

This guy was a complete jerk..... This is such an easy process...... Everybody else here is great. You'd probably have a wonderful time. I don't know if it's the fact that I'm disabled or native American that bothers him. Everybody else is great

Great big park full of trails, views and a beautiful beach There's a campground as well with cute cabins or more than 100 secluded sites Great place to get away and enjoy the outside

    Sunset at the beach.

I stayed at the RV camp site for one night and it was well managed and clean. The cell reception is bad at the camp site but you get cell service down at the beach. It's a good spot to retreat and get some quiet time. It's not my favorite location personally but I'm picky!

The trail itself offers a diverse experience. In the early morning, the air is crisp, carrying the scent of pine or damp earth mixed with a hint of salt. The light streams through the canopy of trees, casting dappled shadows on the path. This provides a sense of peace and seclusion. Running on the trail engages you fully: you're watching for roots and stones, listening to the birds, and enjoying the slight undulations of the terrain, which keep your run interesting and challenge different muscle groups. It's a journey through nature that recharges you before the day even begins.

I liked this park. I will say, it's a bit confusing to navigate through if you don't pay close attention to the signs. But I love how spaced out the spots are so it does feel pretty private. We got a pull through rv spot, the ground was SO uneven I did spend a good 45 minutes trying to find a good angle to park the rv where we weren't going to be sleeping upside down. But hey, that's half the fun! Love all the trails that were connected to the state park. Would definitely stay here again. Our spot was HUGE!!

Day-trip parking is close to the narrow beach and, depending on tide, mudflat. The park is fairly peaceful and has pretty waterside views. After visiting the shoreline, we walked part of a path through the wooded interior, finding lush green growth, a pleasant brook, and hard-packed dirt trails with some constructed boardwalks, hill-climbing steps, and a bridge. First impression was mostly positive. We did not see the camping areas, but encountered several trail walkers who appeared to be staying in the park. The park is possibly not large and varied enough for an extended visit or special trip. It seems ideal for locals and could be an appealing campsite. We'll need another visit to get a clearer picture.

Really enjoyed visiting Dash Point beach. It was cloudy but the views were still gorgeous. The beach is pretty large, and sandy by Washington standards! They have nicely maintained wooded trails too, not too far from Federal Way. Great place to visit.

Dash Point is a solid park for the wanderer, adventurer, camper...who doesn't wanna be too far from amenities either. It'll scratch the wilderness-itch midweek, or when you wanna escape a bit but still have chores to do later. The trails are well-kept. Some moderate bits but overall easy. Blackberries are everywhere right now, and ripening fast. Best part is this trail is mostly shaded, but not too buggy. Perfect for warmer weather. Take a pic of the trail map - you'll want it in case you have a time constraint. The beach is also beautiful. Low tide in the mornings is worth a visit. Lots of cool creatures you can spy when the tide pulls back. Lots of families swimming in the afternoon as well! The bathroom isn't awful, camp grounds are also well-kept. Overall a wholesome family spot that has something to offer for everyone.

Good spot for family and dog. I came to visit for the first time in a sunny 80 degree day in March. The beach was full. But since it was low tide in the afternoon, I was able to take my dog to walk along almost the entire beach. Then we did the short hike starting on the other side of the parking lot, to the campground and back. Tip: Discover Pass required. Get it for $30, which is good for one whole year.

With (some) state parks & trails opening back up, we've been coming to Dash Point State Park on sunny days. It's right down the road from our house which makes it VERY convenient. Right now with social distancing, I've been pleasantly surprised to see everybody being respectful of everybody else's space and the park hasn't been too overly packed. The parking lot is kind of small for a state park, and each time I've gone recently it's only been about half full, which is good. There are tons of trails here that venture into the woods alongside the beach. I haven't had the chance to check them out yet but I'm really interested in doing that sometime soon. Another bonus is that it's pretty clean. Thankfully, guests are good about tossing their stuff in the trash or packing their belongings out. Bathrooms are open right now (even during COVID-19), they just ask that you limit the amount of people who are in there at one time. The beach itself is really fun to walk along. Our almost 2 year old absolutely loves coming here to throw rocks into the ocean, watch all the different kinds of birds, and even find huge LIVE dungeness crabs on the beach. Dogs are allowed on leash as well - be a good human and keep them on leash, and clean up after them. Don't ruin the good thing for everyone else! Highly recommend this spot if you're in the area. We bought a Discover Pass because it is $10 a day to come here, but $30 for an entire yearly pass that gets you into all state parks. Definitely worth the money!

My visit took place on Dec 2020 .. it was very cold!!! But gosh it was still, calm and so beautiful to see the expansive shoreline. The vegetation everywhere is just heaven on earth for me!! Seeing the vast trees and nature was just an experience and quite the trip I'll never forget and hope to repeat several times in my lifetime. Happy Earth Day 2022!

This park has a campground, trails, and a beach area with access to the Puget Sound. Like feet in the water close. The parking lot is huge and the trail leads alongside a creek and through a tunnel to the beach area. There are bathrooms, picnic tables, and a shower for rinsing off. A tall one and short one for feet only. Dogs are allowed here and there were loads of them. Leash is required. Discovery pass required. As far as beaches go I was just so happy to be near water, smell seaweed and put my feet in the water that I loved it. It was nice to have shade to sit in and fin to see everyone enjoying the water. You can go far out here into the water. Maybe next time I'll wear a bathing suit. Maybe. Super beautiful day to enjoy the outdoors. After a while on the beach we decided to explore a trail. The trail heads back and under highway 509 alongside a creek. I grabbed a map and discovered we barely scratched the surface of the trails here. Fun vibes. Cheers and happy Yelping.

Ask the Community - Dash Point State Park

    Can I fishing their?

Yes. But the better place is the Dash Point Pier nearby the state park. And a salty water fishing license is required if you +14.

Is there a boat launch for campers?

Unfortunately, I didn't see any there.

It's a wonderful community destination because it's easy to reach, and both the park and lake are generally kept clean, attractive, and well maintained. Like many popular recreation areas, the lake can become quite busy on warm days and weekends, and occasionally some litter is left behind. What I appreciate is that by the next morning the area is often cleaned up again thanks to the hard work of park staff and community members who help keep the park looking its best. One of my favorite things about Steel Lake is that it is stocked with trout once or twice each year, providing great fishing opportunities throughout much of the season. Visitors come here to fish, swim, kayak, paddleboard, and enjoy boating, with only battery-powered motors permitted on the lake. Overall, Steel Lake is a fantastic local resource that offers something for everyone and remains one of the best places in the area to spend a relaxing day outdoors.

It's tucked away kind of in a residential area, you'd never really know it's hidden back there without GPS or signs. Part of the reason for dinging a star is how crazy small the parking lot is. It can fit maybe 15 cars? And it's tight, so getting my three row SUV in and out of there was kinda tough. Getting down to the water is a little jaunt, but not difficult. It's about a five minute walk down a gravel path and then it opens up to the beach. It was so nice because there was practically no one there! Maybe one or two people who were walking their dogs but that's it. It's definitely on the small side for a beach but it was perfect for our group of little ones and I could definitely see coming back with my kids for a quiet beach day without a lot of people. There's plenty of nice logs to sit on and plenty of soft-ish patches of sand to set up blankets and chairs if desired. I wouldn't say this is a good place to tidepool or find a lot, but the kids did manage to find quite a few little crabs, sand dollars, and even a sea anemone at one point.
