My wife was at this facility for about 2 weeks. The facility is clean, food quality is o.k, standard with these type of facility. Staff is very curtious and helpfull. I inspected 5 facilities in the Mystic Westerly area. There was 1 that was sait list to get on a wait list, also $$$$. I recomed Pendleton to anyone seeking either short or long term care. read more

Euthanasia lives at Pendleton. They are always under staffed and just do the basic to keep people alive. Medicate, feed and try to keep clean ( if you want dignity, respect, caring people- look elsewhere). There are a few good people but because they staff the minimum, your loved one will never get the care they need. It's just impossible. Keep your loved one at home for rehabilitation or for hospice. A week respite would be fine. My mother was there for 9 months, and it was literally hell. I had a camera- it's the law in CT -they have to allow it. That was how I found out what was really happening ( or not happening), it was shocking. KNOW your Ombudsman- they won't tell you your rights, CT legal aid was a Godsend. DO NOT EVER LET YOUR LOVED ONE SPEND A MINUTE HERE. The patents are abused in every way possible. The patents are overdosed with drugs and if they get loud they are drugged again. The Admin are Woke Man Haters. They act like little Hitler SS Officers. This is a TRAP, once they get in the elderly are PRISONERS. The Staff are Horrible, Argumentative and LAZY. The don't do any rehabilitation, The room for that collects dust every single week. The food has no vitamins or minerals and tastes massively bland. The nurses ram pills down your loved ones mouth and stab your loved ones with needles like they are a dagger. If your loved one refuses to eat they will force feed them with a plastic or metal spoon. Nurses lie to the patients, they say the pill is for high blood pressure when in fact it's a sleeping pill. Do not under any condition to let any of your relatives or loved ones stay here. My husband went to Pendleton after a short stay in the hospital in March 2023 , Both my parents had spent time in rehab there years ago and when asked where I wanted him to go from the hospital I thought of Pendleton, BAD choice , he has dementia and they could have cared less, nothing about his wellness seemed to phase the nursing staff, It was clear no one cared and that he was a bother. This was our first experience with my husband being cared for,the situation was extremely unsettling we needed guidance and reassurance that he would be safe as he cannot speak for himself, instead he and I were ignored he was not well cared for he was always wet and half dressed. The two times in the three days he was there I went to the desk to ask for a spoon and to tell them that I found mail in his pocket that belonged to his roommate and that I was concerned that might be a problem I was ignored completely while two people were behind the desk facing me! They were acting busy so I tried to wait until they weren't busy, finally when I got the spoon that I needed myself they turned very fast to find out what I was doing, I expressed my concern about my husband having someone else's mail and asked the nurse to pass the information to 3rd shift at report and her response was "well what do you want me to do about it" She also snapped at me and said "what do you want!"I asked again about reporting it at shift change and she said "I don't know what they are going to do about it" Then she said I'll get the floor supervisor whom I didn't ask for It was her suggestion, I went into the patient dining room and waited 45 minutes watching the nurse and another person at the desk, my husband finally came wandering down the hall looking for me, suddenly the person that wasn't the nurse (the other person at the desk)came into the dining room very quickly and introduced herself as the supervisor , I was shocked she could clearly see me the whole time, I just couldn't believe it, once again I expressed my concern about this being our first experience and it was emotional for the family she was sympathetic so I left it at that. I was so concerned I decided to call third shift at two in the morning and a supervisor told me my husband had just gotten through "beating her up" . I took him out the next morning, couldn't get out of there fast enough. Trying not to complain at discharge I told the DN I was terribly disappointed. Worst experience ever. He was back in the hospital the next day because he got covid also. read more

My Dad was on the 2nd floor for 8 nights. The rudeness and lack of compassion for patients starts with the top management and trickles down to the other nurses & aids. The top management being our "ambassador", named Sue, a head nurse named Marlene (??) and Dr Renzi who's last day arrived only 7 days after being there, they would literally hide from loved ones when they needed some help or had any questions.....they definitely want nothing to do with you. My Dad was constantly falling off his bed, left in his urine and he'd push the call button to no avail. If you care for you loved one, do not send them here. There's many other caring options out there. We particularly love Beechwood in New London. Pendleton deserves NEGATIVE 5 stars. Thank God for Shaina the Speech Therapist and Marie who works at the front desk. They are the only professional and caring people that we encountered. read more

My 83 years old dad was in the facility for few days because he just had a stroke. Stayed there for few days. He fell off out of the bed on the floor without being supervised. He was crying out for help but no one is paying attention to him. We were not very unhappy due of their lacking empathy and supervision. Immediately he had to transferred to a better facility so we can trust those professional nurses and their teams can take care of him better! read more

BEWARE do not send your loved ones here. 1. All the positive reviews on sites are by staff! I know all of their names because both of my parents stayed at this facility. This place is appalling. 2. My moms went there for rehab. While she was in the rehab she fell and broke her ankle! Whenever she would call for help to go to the bathroom etc no one would come. She told me this so we did a trial. I rang the bell when she had to go while I was there and we waited 40 minutes and still no one came. I had to flag someone down and say we needed help. The girl said she would get someone an still no one came. The also mixed up her medications. She was left many days for hours sitting in her own urine because the lack of help. How does someone leave worse than how they came into a rehab??? I was so concerned for her safety that I literally had to petition to get her out of their and finish rehab at home. During all of this the staff at Pendleton were so unprofessional and would not take any responsibility for the things that happened. One of the staff members by the name of Mike D(he wrote one of the reviews on here) was involved and he was the worst to deal with. I caught him lying about what had happened and taken place on a phone call when I called to complain about the issues. 3. My dad fell and broke his hip and had to have a very risky surgery. It was risky because of his preexisting cardiac issues. When the hospital offered options for rehabilitation my brother said he was going to send him to a Pendleton. Unfortunately he wasn't fully aware of the issue my mom had there before. I told him it was good and he still went with it because of the convince of location. Sure enough one week into rehab a Pendleton, my father falls and breaks his other hip!!!! How does someone even have the chance to fall and hurt themselves in REHAB. Rehab is supposed to be a safe place!! When I asked my dad what was going on at the rehab he told me that no one came to help him. I am so furious over their neglect. My poor dad is now awaiting a second high risk surgery due to their negligence. Do not send your loved ones here. I've heard so many horror stories outside of our own about this place. it seems no rehab/conalescent home unless very expensive out of pkt paid is great..lets begin right there. My mother was at Apple in central CT and by comparison, Pendleton offers much more. Firstly LOCATION! its very serene if you can get outdoors. sliding glass doors w/your walker or wheelchair. nicely tree'd by mature Maples w/benches and companions chatting oudoors. a long sidewalk in either direction of entrance is walked daily by one patient. A natural reserve is directly across st. Ashort walk to end of walk locates you directly across from Mystic Aquarium which patients have taken trips too from Pendleton staff. Facility..in the works. They need better furniture in lounges think Naugahyde not stained fabric. Rooms are typical but HVAC works in rooms meaning heat n AC. Better patient furnishings need to happen corners n knobs on sm chests n nite stands look yhrift store sad. You must assert as family mbr n advocate for rooms w/views of garden or pkg lot..gardens needing vols to revive now. get best suited roomate too for yourself or family mbr. call the Social Worker on it..food is plentiful. read more

TITLE: PENDLETON FACILITY SHOULD BE USED FOR A HORROR MOVIE PRODUCTION- On the advice of my hospital discharge planner and several other medical professionals who stated Pendleton has the BEST respiratory therapy around; I agreed to in house at Pendleton--the boasts of their having the best anything, let alone respiratory, is a complete fabrication. They do not even have oxygen pumped through the walls in order to facilitate any kind of respiratory equipment; i.e, med-i-neb machines; bi-pap, etc. They only have oxygen concentrators which is for so many liters--they are not powerful in any manner. The breathing nebulizer machines used for breathing treatments are at least 8-10 years old--mine at home is brand new and much more effective. I was there 7 days without any respiratory therapy--the therapist came in to change out 4 defective concentrators and after four times of my nose filling with water because the tubing that was connected to the bottle containing water which is to offer moisture; kept backing up--I finally said, "just disconnect it"...I was denied my meds for 11 hours on the day of my arrival--I have a complaint filed against this person--also, the janitorial person could not speak or understand english and took my wet items (toothbrush, etc.) from the bathroom and put them in my drawer on top of paperwork--I was in a private room--therefore, no need to touch anything personal;--as the nurse stated. Some of the staff are completely rude and should find other employment. If you care about yourself or a family member--do not even consider Pendleton in Mystic--let alone go there. read more

I have had numerous family members there for different levels of care. My Grandmother and Great Aunt were there for end of life care. They as well as the entire family where treated with more compassion then you could ever dream of. My grandmother transitioned to heaven peacefully and with her family by her side and my great aunt was able to transition to her family/childhood home where she was able to pass in the home she grew up in. I have had both parents there for rehab after different orthopedic surgeries and illnesses where nurses and rehab were top notch. I wouldn't hesitate to place them or any of my family there when the time comes to do so again. Thanks Pendleton!!! read more

Unfortunately hospital sent my mom to Pendleton without family approval. Horrible experience first night arrived by ambulance 4:30 fed at 8:30. Caught cold in two days then conjunctivitis in both eyes then food in sheets and food stains on blanket, never bathed. Dirty carpets, wallpaper being removed, smelly, Man screaming at night in pain. No patients moving around in wheel chairs. Empty beds every where. Limited on food choices. I read review about not taking your loved one to Pendleton after she was placed there. Tried to move her to another rehab and they wrote negative things about her because I complained that she came healthy just for PT and became very ill there. Do your homework find a five star. She rang bell to go to toilet and they did not come for 40 min to and hour. Old people get urinary track infections and could easily die there.
