Once I was invited to stay at StoneRidge as an overnight guest, I immediately decided to move from…read moreMaine to my lovely independent living garden apartment here. The move was seamlessly organized, and now my Dachshund, Siamese Cat, and I are all happily residing (for the very first time) in the "Nutmeg State" along with my dressage horse who boards seven minutes away at DragonFly Equestrian Center. Since so many StoneRidge residents have "lives well-lived", making friends has been a joy. The care and quality of life is also created by the professional staff who reflect a feeling of trust and family. I'm delighted to have moved to StoneRidge early in my "retirement years". Now I'm filling my daily schedule with things I want to do rather than obligations and responsibilities. With StoneRidge's dining, cleaning, medical, maintenance and campus security services, my new chapter is most enjoyably cruising along.

My mom lives at a Masonicare building in Mystic, Ct. While things haven't been perfect there,…read moreoverall it's a good building. The apartments are quite nice and other than the very long distances folks have to walk to get from one end of the building to the other for meals and/or activities, it works. I'm writing today about Masonicare Home Health Services, the home health agency run by Masonicare, which is separate from the living facilities. I called them first when needing to add caregiving services for my mom, who lives in the Independent living side of the building. I thought that perhaps working with the same umbrella organization might make sense. I was very mistaken. I am a longtime clinical social worker who has helped arrange home health care for a number of seniors in the past 15 years, so I know that it can be challenging when working with a home health agency to acquire continuity of care and excellent customer service. However, I must admit I was absolutely shocked at the experience I have had with this agency. I first called at the beginning of April, inquiring about adding a few hours of help each day for my mom. The person I spoke with about how the agency works, prices, etc, was lovely. She was well informed, kind, reassuring, supportive and helpful. I thought I had come to the right place. However, once I was transferred from her to the other schedulers and a case manager, everything quickly fell apart. Their stated policies regarding communication between caregivers, families, and the agency are not regularly adhered to, more than once the assigned caregiver did not show up and neither I nor my mom was informed of what had happened, between mid-April, when care started, and the end of May, my mom had about four different caregivers in succession. I frequently needed to actively problem solve situations in which the caregiver wasn't there or working out a change in personnel, spending hours on the phone with the care manager, schedulers, even the president of the company. I was quite articulate in pointing out to the president of the company what wasn't working well in their system, and while patient and sympathetic to me, absolutely nothing changed or improved. The schedulers are the people who answer the phones and deal with finding caregivers and providing substitutes. They frequently sound rushed and don't explain why changes are being made. The phone lines are frequently busy and one has to leave a message. Calls are not always returned in a timely fashion. It really feels like this agency believes that as long as they scramble to find a warm body to show up to provide care, it doesn't really matter whether there is consistency in relationships between the client and the caregiver. It was a truly traumatic experience dealing with them. I would strongly suggest trying a different agency!

Greg Broadbent Real Estate Team stood out as the best has to offer: their organic rankings are excellent (meaning people find listings on his site easily), their social media presence was strong, and I could tell they put a lot of work into their listings. Our house went under contract first week after we put it on the market asking price. We accepted and Greg walked us through every step of the closing process. It couldn't have been a more pleasant experience. Greg has been there every step of the way. He has always answered every call or email no matter what time of day or night it was. His professionalism, mentorship, knowledge, honesty, and hard work ethic are much respected and appreciated. We never felt that he was just trying to sell our house, but that he was a mentor to answer our questions and help us to make the best decision for my family. I've recommended the Greg Broadbent Real Estate Team to everyone I know. He's a true professional and a genuinely nice guy. I realize it won't always be this easy to sell your home, but I think you'd be hard pressed to find a better Realtor.

He and his office communicated frequently and were very responsive, and Greg personally went the extra mile when the buyers requested last minute accommodations after I had already moved out of town. Incredible selling experience. Highly recommend going through Greg if you're selling a home.
