I've always loved this church, which is why it was so disappointing to be asked to leave on Easter Sunday. Our toddler made a few soft-spoken sounds during the service, and we, along with others, were asked to leave because of it. What made it even more disheartening was that I had brought my elderly father all the way from over half an hour away, only for us to be escorted out shortly after arriving. It was a deeply discouraging experience on a day meant for celebration, community, and grace. I could understand if my toddler had been throwing a tantrum or truly disrupting the service, but that wasn't the case. Most of the people around us actually found it refreshing and sweet--our child was very quiet and only made a few soft sounds. It was especially disheartening because it was the first time attending for two of our family members, and unfortunately, their experience left them feeling disappointed. The staff blamed the pastor and said he doesn't like any noise. My recommendation would be to have no children allowed in the main area so to not to be felt abandoned. read more

Terrible. I picked out a dress in the boutique priced $25. Took it up to pay for it and they started dissecting the price tag and claiming it was "mispriced." They said "we can't sell you this dress," grabbed it and walked away. Apparently it was a designer and the dress is priced $190 online. The dress was in used condition and this is a church for Gods sake. I won't be back. I go to mariners for the services and that's what I will continue to do. Such rude customer service!! read more

**September Visit: Saturday Morning** Not sure if this is the norm but everything was $5 unless marked (in the designer section). On this trip I scored some knee high black boots, a Emilio Pucci dress, belt, jean jacket and a soft long sleeve tee made from that sweat-proof athletic wear for $25. There wasn't a dressing room that I could see, but there were two floor length mirrors in the store if you wanted to put them over your clothes to try out. I think overall the quality of items are pretty good and depending on what you're looking for they have a pretty good medium sized selection. Enjoy! read more

I'm sorry but I never shop at thrift stores. Just my policy. But I constantly donate great items. After bringing many items to places and seeing them marked up so much I am so happy that this place donates all money made and volunteers are working. I applaud all of those volunteering. It isn't an easy task! The reviewers claiming they are uncomfortable with the volunteers is not fun. I know how it is to feel out of place and uncomfortable. You see how the manager replied back. I love the thrift store. I particularly like the costume jewelry....fun stuff! What I particularly love is that 100% of the proceeds go back to the poor and needy locally. The place is run entirely by volunteers and the church as a non-profit collects *none* of the funds generated (to those who posted "they are in it for the money"). I also like the boutique option with higher-end pieces. Yes, sometimes stuff gets mis-reshelved by customers, but even their boutique item prices are comparable to Goodwill's *regular* prices (e.g. I bought a pair of boots at the Goodwill for $15. Mariners' regular boots are about $8, boutique ones about $15), so I don't understand folks' complaints. It is still a deal. You get to decide if it is worth it. Lastly, I have generally found they are polite if you are. If you are abusive, then yeah, they might get a bit defensive. People want to return items to a thrift store? I just re-donate it if I made a mistake. Hey, it's a charity. read more

I had a box of good-quality houseware and about two or three bags of very nice clothing that I went to drop off at their donation center. I went early in the morning as I was doing a couple of other errands. Apparently, I was too early as just as I was putting the first box out in the donation area, a security guard drove up behind me. I said hi, I'm just dropping some stuff off for your church and I was treated like I was committing a crime. He said the drop-off area is not open yet and we don't want people dumping. I said okay, sorry about that but I wasn't dumping and showed him the box I was leaving. As I was going back to my car, he said it doesn't even matter what you are donating, if you don't go back and get it then I will have to take your license plate down and call the police. All I can say is, wow, and not exactly feeling much Christian spirit here. I understand it was the wrong time of day, but you can see I'm donating some stuff that people would buy from your store but you would rather I just go throw it in the trash where it hurts the environment and helps nobody. That makes a lot of sense. As he watched me like a hawk as I drove away I was left with the feeling that I never want to come back to this place again. I understand why other people have said they feel like they are being accused of stealing or uncomfortable here. Anyway, I took my donations to Goodwill and was just disappointed at such an attitude received from a church I am trying to donate to. read more

For many years, Mariners Church Thrift Store used to stand by their items they sold. If something didn't work when you took it home, they would take it back. Last Saturday We bought a spice rack for $5 that we later found to be missing main pieces and made the item useless. We took it back today and they wouldn't accept it saying "all sales are final." The purchase is listed in their system on my phone number. The manager in charge insulted us saying "how do I know you bought it here." That's very trusting. We supported their center donating and purchasing from them. We were volunteer workers and used to make sure things worked and counted pieces To make sure the item was complete. What she could have done was give us a credit if they want to keep the $5. They can look up my number and see that we have supported them for over eight years. I would even bring my clients donations here. Not recommend but actually pick up and drop off for them. Don't buy anything that you'll have to take back (electronics, puzzles, pieces you have to assemble. It's too bad her attitude and insult lost a family that supported their center over a $5 item. read more

My daughter attends church regularly at Mariners she absolutely loves it. Asked us to join her on Saturday evening service and worship. So we went, this church was amazing it was inviting and the senior pastor was so awesome. It is a huge campus felt a little intimidating at first we are used of smaller churches, but once we were in everyone is so welcoming. We forgot about how big it was it didn't feel big after all. Highly recommend giving Mariners a try. Definitely going back. Can't wait for the Oceanside Mariners to open. read more

A little tricky to find. Address led us to the huge church but this is just behind it. Nice little shop. Everything was neat. Great prices except the "boutique" section is pricey. Too bad they only open two days a week supposedly because they run on volunteers and were short staffed. Was told by two different ladies it was half off yellow tags, and once we got to the register with all our yellow tag goodies a different lady said only some yellow tags were included not all. That was very disappointing. Not sure who was correct but didn't want to bother. Ended up putting more than half the stuff back. Overall I would definitely come back if I'm ever in the area again. read more

If how the employees treat the customers of this establishment are any indication of how you will be treated in the actual church. I am sadly disappointed. I truly hope it isn't so. I was followed around the store as if I was going to steal and as my sister and I were walking out after paying at the register an employee named Yvonne who had been standing next to the cashier yells across the store "Hey did you even pay for that cart full of stuff!?" Very disappointing behavior displayed here today. Especially from this store in particular because of the morals and church it associate itself with. *update* First off thank you to the manager for being so professional about the situation and redirecting your staff in a positive direction. I paid a visit again today and the customer service was great. Thanks so much for putting in the effort to make it a better environment for customers. read more

Lots of hidden gems in here! Super neat and does it smell weird. It makes me feel good spending money because it goes back to their Outreach. It is adjacent to the pantry for anyone who needs food. I have come here a number of times but this time I was very disappointed by the way I saw one of the workers treat a Latina customer. This white man yelled at her mutliple times because she was trying to make a return. And from the beginning he was raising his voice at her and being rude. I'm sure that this would not have happened with a white customer. I am not surprised about this sort of thing in Irvine, CA but will definitely not be coming back here again. read more

Things are good and priced fairly so I think. They have a section that is the expensive stuff. The staff seems to be on high alert and think you are going to steal things. Such a great thrift store! My daughter loves thrifting and we check out all the local ones. This one blew me away. All the shirts were $2. Got an awesome wool jacket for $4. I see done reviews saying the workers aren't nice but they were so helpful when I was there. I actually saw a worker give gas money to someone who was there as I walked in.
