As soon as I walked in I got a huge whoosh of their new signature "store smell"--super strong, and it took me a few minutes to adjust to it. Maybe the machine was broken? I heard it constantly running while I was there; it just kept humming. Usually they are intermittent--hum for a bit, then stop every few minutes. I was there for about 10 minutes. My nose started feeling all weird. I got to my car and my clothes reeked of the scent. Horrible. Also, don't they know that crap artificial scents are hormone disruptors? Bad for health. No one asked to be blanketed in perfume gas while shopping. What are they thinking? 30 minutes later... still stink. INFO: Many synthetic fragrances contain phthalates (e.g. DEP) and synthetic musks that act as endocrine disruptors. They can mimic, block, or interfere with hormones (estrogen, testosterone, thyroid). Lab and animal data link them to reproductive effects and earlier puberty; they also bioaccumulate.

Then I was yelled at simply for using the bathroom to try on clothing. Permission was given to me for this purpose by one volunteer. Then, another volunteer (who followed me around the store) yelled at me, stating it wasn't allowed while pounding on the bathroom door *demanding* I exit *immediately.* The volunteer who gave me permission then lied saying she did NOT give me permission to try on clothes. Good grief! Make sure your communications are clear to all volunteers so customers don't have to be on the receiving end of your wrath, anger issues, and power struggle. What a horrible and degrading experience. I was even thinking of volunteering there but, if these volunteers are representative of the values of the Assistance League, no thank you! I will also be taking my business elsewhere since being followed and yelled at was so unprofessional and disrespectful to a customer who pays money to help their charity. I wish the Assistance League well in helping out the community but perhaps better vetting of volunteers is needed so more customers don't feel shamed for simply shopping and wanting to try on clothing they may want to purchase.

There's no dressing rooms either, so you can't try on anything. (Of course, you could try on jackets, but it's harder to try on things like dresses or shirts without a fitting room.) The home goods section was extremely sparse. I really enjoy looking at furniture and dinnerware, but the selection is very minimal here. Unfortunately, they were also playing super conservative Republican radio.. I might return here, but I would definitely bring headphones and wear something breathable, because it will be HOT in there.

One that involves a husband, wife, GF, or BF getting off work early & maybe calling in sick the next day. Most Halloween costumes say Spirit or Halloween Express somewhere on the packaging. Not these costumes. These costumes said "Forplay" on them--as in the activities that precede the activity. One costume was called "A Scaredly Lion." The woman modeling the costume did not look that afraid though--she looked more like a hungry or thirsty lion to me. A mom checked out a milkmaid costume for her daughter or herself presumably, & I'm not sure she understood the type of milk maid labor this costume implied. Salvation Army, these were not Halloween costumes or costumes suitable for kids; these were spicy night costumes--the kind that are not meant to be worn for most of the night. 5 stars for bizarre amusement in adult slumber party costume merchandise form. Nothing quite like the ideal attire for a special hoe-ccasion.

There's usually only one associate in the store, but I've had good experiences from different people the times I've gone. I love the messaging and giving back to the community!
