This is a lovely public pool in Marin! We came for a holiday weekend and it wasn't as busy as I was expecting. There are ample life guards and the toddler area is perfect with some toys, shared area and showers. Will be coming back! Lots of grassy areas for kids to play and then swim:) read more

Pro: It's an objectively lovely pool and space to hang out. The pool didn't seem to be highly chlorinated like public pools tend to be. Cons: They don't allow pool toys because babies could get ahold of them and choke, and they don't allow nose clips or snorkel masks because they're a drowning hazard, both rules we've never encountered at any of the multitude of other pools we've been to. Some neurodivergent individuals and/or those who deal chronic ear infections or severe allergies may need nose clips to swim so that rule in particular seems unnecessarily restrictive. I also found nothing about nose clips being a drowning hazard when I googled it. Lastly, as we were making a snack bar purchase I watched as a customer came to talk to the staff about an issue and then when the person left to go back to their blanket, facility staff and lifeguards openly joked and laughed about it. I also bought the livingsocial deal to Marinwood Pool, but I was skeptical because I didn't know where the pool was. Turns out I drive by it regularly, but it's tucked away and you can't really tell it's there! In fact, it's a little confusing to get to it the first time. It's behind the Marinwood Community Center building (next to the fire station), and you can either go through the building doors or around the outside next to the park. From there you should see the entrance and main desk. The price is pretty reasonable even without the voucher deal. It's $5/kids or $6/adults for one full day. There's a large lawn area to set up your chair/towel/picnic setup, and on Sundays there's live music (and a bounce house). There are vending machines but it's not much in the way of food. I think you're allowed to bring food in though, which seems more fun anyway. There's a infant/kiddy pool separate from the main pool, and then the main pool is broken up into 4 sections: 1-2 lanes for lap swimming, the main 3-6 ft swimming area for kids/parents to play in, the 10-12 ft deep end for practicing jumping and diving into the water (no diving board), and then the landing zone for the 2 WATER SLIDES to drop into. The water slides are amazing. Even for grown-ups. You climb up the platform steps to the top, and pick which slide you want to go do (the long one or the spirally one). The attendant turns on the water for whichever one you pick (props to the pool for preserving water!), and then you go for a slide. And then you get out and go again. This is definitely a family-focused pool. Sometimes it can be tough if you're there for exercise or to work on technique, since you have to be careful of children and move out of the swim lane if they're taking a swim test. But it's a great community pool and I'm really glad they did the living social deal! read more

We love this pool. It's situated in a warm, sunny microclimate and for some reason it's never too crowded when we're there. Great slides and there are even umbrellas and lounge chairs (and parking!) if you get there early. Not too expensive either. read more

This review is ONLY for the toddler pool - I can't comment on the larger, general pool as I haven't used it. Unfortunately, given our experience at the tot pool we won't be rushing back. The pool is tiny, water is no deeper than 1foot, and on the particular afternoon that we went it was absolutely packed (I counted 19 kids, though there were more running around the outside). My biggest concern with this pool is the age of the kids in it (the gate posts a sign saying children in the pool must be younger than 6 yrs) and the lack of supervision. Most of the kids were over 6yrs (some by several years, I would guess closer to 8yrs old) and it appeared as if their parents just 'dropped them off' there and left them to it, not bothering to watch them or ensure they behaved safely. I witnessed kids jumping on top of each other, holding others under the water, throwing plastic boats at other kids, name calling and shouting in other kids faces. All of this went on during the 45mins I was there with my 1yr old. 19 older kids, jumping, shouting, splashing and intentionally pushing into my little one was not what I had expected at a local toddler pool. There were a few parents lounging in the area, sun bathing on loungers and talking on their phones, conveniently ignoring what their kids were doing. Only 2 or 3 appeared to be actively watching their children. Most of these kids should have been in the larger pool - it was a totally unsafe environment for toddlers, and no fun at all. read more

Moving to the bay area I was looking for a pool to do my lap swimming, I looked around a bunch of places and most were memberships or were located far from my ideal location between Novato and San Rafael. During the season I went regularly to the Marinwood pool, they have nice staff and the other swimmers that go are all friendly. With its tucked away location it doesn't get a breeze and the sun makes swimming here great. The rating of 3 comes from them opening the pool to a summer camp for kids and that means that the pool will be very busy and the times for lap swimming has to be adjusted, also the pool only being 25 yards long is a shame since I'm used to the standard Olympic size 50 meter pools. Also being an outdoor pool I cannot go here in Winter and it makes me miss my swimming so much more and I haven't found a replacement that I want to try yet. read more

What a great place! Plenty of space to swim, enjoy the grass and sun, and even hang out with the little ones in the baby pool.

This is a great pool. I like that it is on the smaller side so it is easy for me to keep an inventory check on my kids. Unless you show up between 1 and 3 during the week in the summer (camp hours) it is rarely crowded. They have a great swim lesson program in the summer as well. This is also my favorite pool to host pool parties. It is super reasonable and it the price includes a covered picnic area next to the pool plus decorations! 4 stars because the baby pool sucks. It is a classic wading pool circle, maybe 12' diameter and 12" deep. B-O-R-I-N-G You are not allowed to bring toys. I repeat, B-O-R-I-N-G. It is also a completely separate area from the main pool which is hard if you have swimmers and non-swimmers and need to keep an eye on both. read more

My family and I tried this pool out this summer for the first time. We've been JCC members for the past few years and decided it just wasn't worth the cost. A few mom friends of mine recommended the Marinwood Pool and I so happy they did. The staff couldn't be nicer, guards are on top of things, it's clean and they have 2 great slides and plenty of grass. (It does get really busy during the summer weeks from about 1pm-3pm with their camps). Great pool, great atmosphere, love the sunday special events, can't wait until next summer! read more

My son learned so quickly and made enormous progress with just a week of instruction each summer. He's had a few different instructors here to meet our scheduling needs and they've all been great! I love the Marinwood pool! Better stated my son and all his friends love the Marinwood pool. We've been coming to Marinwood for many years to escape the fog of the city and even Mill valley. We often will get a discounted non-locals rate from LivingSocial or Groupon. This has worked out really well for us over the years. We will generally come bring a little picnic lunch buy ice cream enjoy the pool and the slide. The set up is great. Even if we start on the lawn with our own towels and camping chats the turnover of guests and members allows most folks to get a comfortable lounger with and umbrella there are even picnic tables and a kiddie pool Thanks to all the staff and life guards Especially Molly !! read more

Totally fine if the weather is great and you need a pool fix...the baby pool is small and has 5-6 year olds splashing around without parents to tell them to watch out for the little ones. The pool is nice of course. Spacious and accommodates all ages. The spaces available to sit , (grass) however, needs a lot of work and maintenance. Very uncomfortable unless you bring your own chairs from home. There are only a limited amount of chairs they provide and get hogged up really quickly by non swimmers. The staff at the front desk have horrible attitudes and can become confusing and unhelpful at times. It definitely has become expensive over the years to come swim here as well. The bathrooms here are also very dirty and not maintained throughout the day. You can smell the urine coming from the bathroom floors and walls. There are only two stalls to change in. The vending machines consist of boring choices like kale chips or organic popcorn? They used to play music , live band, or DJ, not anymore :( read more

this review is only for the outside park. outside park is very cute and clean. area is gated so the kiddies can't run right out. it's a good safety feature. has two different playground areas for a nice variety. like how there is creek right next to it and you can walk down to see it and check it out if you want to. i wish people would pick up there litter though. there are no dogs allowed in the area. read more

Slides are fun but that's about it. There are so many rules basically you can do nothing. I understand rules are necessary like no running but no piggy back rides, no ball throwing nothing My kids stayed for 30 minutes and were bored. If they are so concerned with safety then they should put some no slip strips around the pool I must have seen 10 kids slip and wipe out. Wont be returning. We came from San Francisco and brought the whole family. The place was not over fancy but the setting was beautiful, the staff great and we had one of the best family outings ever! The pool was clean, they have a waterslide and a baby pool. In addition, the pool was located next to a park where we spent a few hours after leaving the pool. Showers are outdoors just a heads-up. This is by far the best outdoor public pool in Marin! read more
