I would have given 4.5 stars, as there is no indoor shower...just outdoors in the open. They do have good changing rooms though. The character of this treasure of a hometown pool deserves the full 5 stars despite the lack of indoor showers.

There are many events, celebrations, and volunteer opportunities that have allowed me to get to know the other parents in my daughter's class as well as the other classes. The school is a tight knit community with parents who are very engaged. Lastly, my daughter is always excited to go to school. The teachers plan activities that keep the children engaged and teach them new skills. They also focus on art, music, outdoor play, as well as reading. My daughter seems genuinely happy at school, and always talks about her friends at school. I highly recommend the JCC Preschool in San Rafael!

We drove over, but there was no activity -- no cars parked, no sounds of kids or families around. We spoke with base security, who was kind but didn't have clear information about the pool or its hours, and shared that it is not open to the public without special permission. We were also told that the parking area is not for civilian use. After checking the official site, it looks like the summer season doesn't begin until May 23, so definitely something to plan ahead for. Sharing in case it helps others avoid the same situation!

Cons: They don't allow pool toys because babies could get ahold of them and choke, and they don't allow nose clips or snorkel masks because they're a drowning hazard, both rules we've never encountered at any of the multitude of other pools we've been to. Some neurodivergent individuals and/or those who deal chronic ear infections or severe allergies may need nose clips to swim so that rule in particular seems unnecessarily restrictive. I also found nothing about nose clips being a drowning hazard when I googled it. Lastly, as we were making a snack bar purchase I watched as a customer came to talk to the staff about an issue and then when the person left to go back to their blanket, facility staff and lifeguards openly joked and laughed about it. Miss Ann has created a safe and nurturing environment that gives each child the structure and predictability they need. I appreciated that she has a dedicated area for babies, and that her nap schedule works well for both babies with 2-3 naps and toddlers with one nap. My oldest also had a wonderful experience and both kids transitioned seamlessly to preschool after graduating from LMDC. We live in Mill Valley and it was worth the daily trip over the hill for 4 years! We will always have a special place in our hearts for Miss Ann and LMDC.
