OK who do we have to call to demand change?! My child is missing 1st period EVERY DAY since school started! I would have been called into school for the same... truancy court! THIS IS ABSOLUTELY NOT OKAY! Her bus is due here at 8:26. They get here at 9:00 and later EVERYDAY! Her education is clearly NOT important to MCPS! She is Googling HOW TO PASS HER CLASS BECAUSE SHE IS NEVER ACTUALLY ABLE TO SIT IN IT! I called MCPS about this, and they supervisor literally told me it's just what it is! HOW THE FUCK?! I just moved here and called to ask if there is a bus route in my neighborhood. The lady that always answers the phone is the rudest person I have ever talked to in my life. I ask a question, she doesn't know the answer, then hangs up on you. I asked if there is a bus to my home, she asks, "what's the name?" I tell her and she says "he's not enrolled here. Call the school." Click. I call back. I said "I wasn't finished, I have another child at the high school." She says,"I'll have someone call you back." Click. I call back, "how is someone going to call me back if I didn't leave a phone number?" Click. This is a school, not me calling Burger King to ask what's on the menu. Gotta love when you call Marion County public school transportation due to your kids safety and the place where they decide to place the stop (someone else's property) and being told by Melinda it's not her problem how your kids (ages 6&9) get to the bus or the fact there's no sidewalks on a high traffic road to a bus stop that you're not wanted at by the property owner. Then you talk to Sharon who says that they've supplied a bus stop and that's all the can do. I pretty much beg for someone to actually come out and look instead of sitting and making a decision while looking at a computer and was then told it'll be a few weeks, I'll have someone call you. I find it amazing that every year for the last 4 years they have wanted me to take my children to a stop that's located either on someone else's property or at an elderly community which has caused an issue EVERY YEAR when they have to pass my home to get to either of the other stops. As a parent that works I don't have the choice in taking my kids to school I have to depend on the bus and it's a scary thing to know they could care less about the safety of my kids. Get off your butts and come out to these stops, drive these routes. I'm not a lazy parent that doesn't want to take her kids to the bus stop, I'm a concerned parent trying to do the right thing and anyone in there right mind wouldn't want to put themselves through the headache of being hollered at first thing in the morning or the fear that one of these speeding cars may lose control, accidents are happening ALL THE TIME on this road. Marion county public school transportation just doesn't care. *UPDATE* just received a call from Reggie Thomas who confirmed he's looked at the bus stop on his GPS and my children and I have to stand rain or shine in a ditch located OFF of the property where the stop is located if we choose to utilize transportation.
