They will not load or unload your horse. The driver got lost getting to our destination although we followed the trailer and tried to signal he was going the wrong way when he got off the highway, to no avail. The driver ended up calling me from a gas station and I had to go and have him follow me. I hope not to be charged for the extra mileage. I was also uncomfortable by how fast the driver was going (over 60 mph in a 45 zone) on back county roads. But my horse did arrive safely and they picked him up on time, which are the 2 positive things I can note. read more

This was the first time I ever shipped a horse. Brad was the driver and he did an awesome job! He took great care of my horse. He was very patient and answered all of my questions. He also patiently directed me to the farm where my horse was being delivered, when I took a wrong turn and got lost, having never been to the area before. They recently shipped my horse cross country and along the way they kept telling me he was shipping great. I was shocked when he got out of the trailer with fresh lacerations on his right eye, across his forehead and cuts all over his right hip and flank. He was also covered in dried sweat. The driver claimed ignorance to what happened. There is no way the driver did not feel it when he got hurt and there is a live video feed. I left multiple messages with Brook Ledge and no one has responded to me. I will never use them or recommend them to anyone. It was bad enough the condition that my horse showed up in, but the lack of concern and zero follow up is absolutely unacceptable. read more

They changed the delivery day and time constantly. Their update one morning was that my horse would arrive around 3AM. Instead, I got a call a couple hours later that the horse was 20 minutes away. My horse arrived with multiple bloody lacerations, and a large lump on his face. The driver would not give any explanation. I made multiple calls trying to find out what happened so that I could inform the vet in the interest of treating him most efficiently. They were adversarial and alternated between telling me that nothing happened. That the drivers were good guys who have been with the company for a long time. Nothing could have happened. If anything did happen, it would have been recorded. Brainstorming that a screen fell on my horse or that he had halter rubs. And my favorite...that they needed to see photos of the injuries in order to admit what happened. Finally, after repeated nonsense and teeth pulling, they said that the horse was injured at some point before he got on a trailer at the final transfer location. Still, they refused to tell me what had happened. I received no apology or -the bare minimum- transparency about what he had suffered. My young horse is permanently disfigured. read more

What I saw tonight, driving down I75 S in Georgia, just as a human being, was terrifying, let alone as a horse trainer/gentler and owner/operator of a horse boarding stable. What I witnessed tonight was not only reckless endangerment of other drivers on the road, but willful reckless endangerment of the horses being transported, animal cruelty, and negligence of the horses well being. As I was driving down I75 S I noticed a horse trailer in front of me and was impressed with how well it looked maintained and decided to take down the information printed on the back of the trailer as I need 6 horses shipped from Milton Georgia. It was only then that I started to notice how erratically the trailer was all over the road. It was quite frankly shocking. It was at that point I noticed I was going 85 mph and still couldn't keep up with the transport truck. I thought to myself, the trailer has to be empty. Out of concern I decided to see if it was indeed empty and sped up. The driver was driving down the road, averaging between 92 and 97 mph. I know this because I pulled up next to the trailer and looked down at my own speedometer. As I looked up to my left, I was horrified to see a set of ears, 1 or 2 windows back from the front, passenger side of the rig, pop up. Not only was the driver putting everyone on the road in danger with his speed, but also someone's horse. As soon as I saw the horses ears, I immediately dropped back and pulled to the back of the trailer, and tried to allow for quite a bit of distance, when all of a sudden, the trailer swerved back and forth all over the road. Other drivers noticed this as well as brakes were being lit up and people trying to avoid going anywhere near it. About 5 minutes later the trailer swerved again, this time the driver over corrected and the trailer literally looked as though it was going to tip completely over. I have large animal emergency rescue training and I instinctively dropped way back in case the trailer did tip and rescue would be needed. The driver continued to drive at extremely high speeds and after about 10 minutes I decided to try to pass him. I went to his left, looked up at the trailer and was now even more mortified as I saw another set of ears pop up. There were definitely 2 horses, at least, being hauled. I quickly sped up, passed the rig and eventually was able to get in the slow lane. A minute or two later he pulled up beside me and as there was traffic had to slow down a bit. It was at this point I heard the horses. They weren't just talking, they were screaming. As someone who has gentled completely green horses, dealt with severely bonded horses that have been separated, blind horses that are spooking, pulled horses out of a barn fire, I've heard many horses while in panic and these horses were at that level. It was heartbreaking, to say the least. It was at that point, even though I knew it was after normal business hours, that I decided to google the transporter companies number (all hands free) and call them. I was so alarmed by what I was seeing that I left a nearly 2 minute message for them, which I have screenshot. The trailers number was 246. The semis number was 143 and the license plate was issued out of Pennsylvania. As we came up on the Chastain Road exit, to 575, the traffic was heavy, at a standstill, when I happened to get another glance at the semi and took note of the fact that the driver was on his phone. This shipping company may indeed have a good record, but from what I was witness to tonight; there was absolutely no regard for the horses well being or any of the others drivers lives that were on the road that night. read more

Brook Ledge Horse Transport - Alarmed, I called the company, with no response on their part, to alert them to the situation. - Transportation Near Me - Ocala, Florida

Brook Ledge came recommended and I paid top dollar expecting top level service, but transport with Brook Ledge turned into a nightmare. My horse left CA carrying extra weight then arrived 3 days later in MI emaciated with chipped teeth much later than promised. He dropped a huge amount of weight in their care! I was told he would be held over in Lexington for 1-12 hours, but they ended up keeping him overnight so closer to 24 hours. Also, they made a big deal about me having a bundled bale of hay for him to eat along the trip to be sure he was getting hay he is accustomed to so I went to the trouble to get a bundled bale, but the bale arrived unopened. Furthermore, my sweet horse had to be on 3 different trucks during the three days of transport with them. This didn't make it any easier on him. I tried to calmly talk to them about all of this with no point of view about what they should do about it and I was referred to their credit manager. He came back to me with rudeness and defensiveness and even accusatory towards me claiming the driver is one of their best and has been with them a long time. That may be true, but my horse suffered in their care and they did not follow through on the things they said. He had no openness to hearing the truth about my experience let alone any willingness to make it up to me in any way. The credit manager was more concerned that they got a decline on my card when I made it clear when booking that I was using a debit card with a $3000 daily limit and they needed to split the charge (cost was $3500.) I offered a second card at the time of booking in case they wanted to run it all same day and they declined my offer. He treated me like a criminal when I was clear about the situation at booking and they neglected to make notes about it in their system. They clearly think they are in the right no matter what and the customer comes last with Brook Ledge. I will never use them again and give them ZERO stars. Wish me luck getting weight back on my horse in Michigan winter. read more

I LOVE them. They've hauled me all over the country and I will NEVER trust another company with my horses. Brook Ledge is phenomenal and they really do care about the animals they haul. They recently hauled two of my mares from Florida to Arizona and even had to deal with an emergency pull situation left me having to call the police for an escort of my horses off that property. These guys are troopers and I sincerely can't praise them enough. They're also competitively priced and have an excellent history with everything from backyard pets to multi-million dollar racehorses including Zenyatta and Barbaro. I love the drivers and professionals who transport the horses at Brook Ledge. Unfortunately, their office staff are arrogant and cranky women. I called in my credit card information to Leslie Stevenson and she was rude, condescending and impatient. I am a highly educated person and she treated me like I was the village idiot, saying things like "I do a hundred of these bills of lading every day and nobody else has ever had a question" and "that's what you entered on the form, it's right there in front of you," when I kindly asked who they would notify of pickup and arrival times (their old antiquated text-based "fill-in" shipping form was not clear on who the "contact person" was in general.) She was snippy and acted like she didn't want to be bothered with a 2 minute phone call for a $2,400 shipment. Not impressed. read more

Brook ledge drove my horse from Connecticut to Florida and although there were numerous miscommunications (I was not told they were stopping in New York and Ocala before coming to Jacksonville), 26 hours later he arrived safe, happy, and healthy. No weight loss or issues. The drivers always gave me updates throughout the trips and answered all of my calls. They even texted me pictures when he left New York. (I would give 3 stars to this trip just because I had no idea how many changes they were making from Connecticut to Florida until they happened). Recently I was in a panic trying to get my horse out of Jacksonville for Hurricane Matthew. Brook ledge came to the rescue, getting a driver assigned to come get my horse Thursday and helped me coordinate lodging for my horse and for myself inland away from the bulk of the storm. In a serious time of horse mom crisis, they have been nothing but helpful. I've been impressed with how they've come to the aid of myself and my horse. They were early to pick my horse up and got him safely 2 hours across the state to a fantastic facility. They assisted me far beyond just transporting my horse, in a very last minute situation, in a time of need. Although my first experience with them wasn't ideal in terms of the lack of clarify and communication, they far exceeded my expectations this time around. They exceeded just transporting my horse safely and made sure that I was taken care of as well. I gave Brook Ledge (PA dispatch) 1 star so I could leave a review. I'd rather give them negative 1 star if I could! I had spent A LOT of time researching horse transport companies (Bob Hubbard, American, Nationwide, Equine Express, etc etc). I liked all of the positive things I saw about Brook ledge. For peace of mind and good customer service, I didn't care that everyone said they were more expensive. So, excited that I had finally made a decision and felt confident due to all of the reviews, I made the call to Brook Ledge. I initially called the Florida number ((800) 955-7654), but was told I needed to called the PA number instead. My horse needed transport from Del Mar, CA to Oregon so I didn't know which one to call. I then called the Brook Ledge PA number ((800) 523-8143). I was given to dispatch. A man answered. I told the man that I needed a horse transport quote, I told him the from and to info...I stated that I didn't know the exact date, but gave him the thereabouts. I also said I could be flexible if they were full. The man (a Brook Ledge customer service professional) replied with, "The gal responsible for giving the quotes is next to me wit her brains splattered all over her desk. Give me your email hon and she can email you later on with the quote". Annoyed at being referenced to as 'Hon', I was quickly trying to decipher what the Brook Ledge representative meant by: "...her brains are splattered all over her desk..." Did that mean she has yet to have her morning coffee and is not functioning well? Was she overwhelmed by a busy morning of customers? Hung-over? Did she commit suicide? I quickly pondered his explanation (what type of image pops into your mind if an important office service member is described in this fashion?) I gave him my email address and told him I looked forward to the quote, but that the gal (with her brains splattered all over her desk) didn't have to rush for me. I had no urgency. I proceeded to tell him that I was impressed with all of the reviews I had seen on their company. But, I did have one question in regards to something that concerned me. He replied, "What hon?" ....I continued, "I was wondering if the company is aware of the video on YouTube that comes up when you Google Brooke Ledge Horse Transport Review?" (***If any Yelp review readers want to see what I am talking about, click the YouTube link below or Google (copy paste) the following in your URL bar): Badly weaving truck Brookledge Horse Vans YouTube youtube.com/watch?v=uxpP... (***If you watch this video, you will see a Brook Ledge truck full of horses driving on a highway as if they were drunk, or texting, or ? They swerve several times between two lanes and the highway shoulder. A driver behind them was horrified and took the video footage. Watch the whole thing.) Anyway, I simply asked the Brook Ledge employee on the phone if they were aware of the video and if that driver is no longer working for the company. ....now, it is my assumption that the minimal standard basic customer service representative (dispatcher, secretary, employee, *insert any company worker title here* would reply something like: "Yes ma'm, we are aware of it and I can assure you that it is not representative of our company. We provide excellent safe service you can trust." .....Or something like that. A more simplistic and succinct answer would have sufficed as well (i.e.): "We fired that driver". This Brook Ledge employee responded with the trashiest, most unprofessional answer. His answer in no way encouraged confidence, trust or class. I imagined this man to be a toothless, greasy haired gruff, uneducated and in the process of downing his 3rd Coors beer of the morning. Maybe this is why the woman, his co-worker, had her brains splattered all over her desk? She works with an idiot. Homer Simpson has more smarts and class. Basically, this man laughed and laughed. He babbled all sorts of trashy ridiculousness that just made himself and the company look worse. "Hon, we have over 200 drivers and we can't bother to care which one that was...." Hon, do you know how busy we are?" "Hon, do you think we can worry about that?" "Hon, have you heard about all the other companies out there? Do you think we care?... they are much worse...." On and on he went.... .....Ummmmm YES I would think that the owner of the company would care!!!! I interrupted him and said, "Interesting that you think it's funny". Then, I hung up. Needless to say, I never received the email with the quote. Maybe the lady really did have her brains scattered all over the desk? *I'd like to add here that I am sure that this company has excellent caring drivers. I am sure many transports go perfectly. Good experience with a horse going from Florida to Texas. Driver let me know when they would arrive. When the rig was too big for the access road the driver happily walked the horse down to the barn. I have not done business with this company. However, we were traveling next to one of their trucks on 301 north of Ocala. The driver of this truck was driving dangerously close to other trucks in the rain and trying to cut in between cars in heavy traffic while gesturing to drivers. I would not trust a company who employs drivers that behave like this to transport my horses. read more
