I had been here before and thought the fried shrimp tacos were okay, so I decided to give the restaurant another try. Unfortunately, this second visit was disappointing. We ordered the fried fish, and it arrived with a fried fly stuck in it. Obviously, finding an insect in your food is unpleasant. I understand that flies can sometimes get into restaurants and mistakes can happen. What bothered me most was not the fly itself, but how the situation was handled. When we brought it to the attention of the person in charge, instead of simply apologizing and offering a refund, he tried to justify what happened. A sincere apology and immediate resolution would have gone a long way. Accidents happen, but customer service and accountability matter. Sadly, the response left a worse impression than the mistake itself. And our waitress had the worse service. . I called her to ask for more lemon and she rolled her eyes at us. read more

The horchata in a fancy cup helped lighten the mood. The food is great! The service was pretty darn good too! My fav was the La Mazateña shrimp. They were fabulous! Best octopus tacos, this is a must if you're in TJ! We came on a Saturday before noon and found a table right away, but when we left there was a line so try to go early if you want to beat the lunch rush. We ordered 6 tacos for 3 people plus ceviche and it was too much food, but it was all delicious. The tacos are big and filling. Our favorite was the octopus, then octopus and shrimp combo, shrimp, fish, and lastly the fish chicharron. The ceviche was also really good, but came out last and we were all pretty full by then but took it to go and enjoyed it later. They also serve you a seafood consome in the beginning with salsa, cabbage, and fresh chips. The crema and green salsa they give you is also a must on every taco! And the chips lol. Great spot, delicious food and friendly staff. We were recommended by a friend, this place did not disappoint! We came during lunch hour and we still received fast service. It about 10min away from all the major surgery spots (in downtownTijuana) and very easy to get to. Parking is a bit difficult but not impossible-to find with a little patience. I orders a shrimp cocktail and it was delicious, I did not need to add anything and I am very pick when it comes to shrimp cocktails. I also had a spicy crunchy octopus taco which I am not a very bug fan of octopus but it was surprisingly delicious. I also ordered a shrimp taco and not only was it huge (enough to make 2 tacos out of one) it was also very delicious! The wife ordered a mazatena quesadilla which was huge and delicious. We've read good reviews on this place so we took a 20 min Uber ride from Avenida Revolucion (downtown area) and we must say, it was worth it! It was pretty packed when we got there around 1:30 pm. It's huge and perfect for groups. Service is really friendly and very accommodating despite us not speaking any Spanish. Note that looks like all of the tacos are served in flour tortilla. Not sure if you can substitute it with corn. We usually prefer the latter but we find that seafood pairs really well with flour. What we got: Their special: La Mazateña (shrimp enchilada) - the cook on the shrimp is spicy and flavorful! I can also taste a bit of butter where it was probably sautéed in. It also has mozzarella cheese! The fixings like salsa, shredded lettuce, and other condiments are served on the side so you can easily modify any taco to your liking. We find the white creamy sauce works perfect to tone down the spiciness + a generous squeeze of lime! Camaron a la mantequilla (butter shrimp) - we got two of these since this was the taco that compelled us to visit. Now on one of my top 4 most favorite tacos of all time, the shrimp is perfectly cooked, seasoned, and the addition of oozing and generous butter makes this one perfect. It's more simple than the shrimp enchilada and less spicy for sure. You HAVE to order this! Crunchy pulpo (octopus) - My fiance ordered this one and he loved it. Seems like they used the same spices that they did with the shrimp enchilada. I'm personally not a fan of octopus but I gave it a try and I loved its flavors and definitely the crunchiness was an added appeal. Fish tacos - we just had to try their fried fish tacos since we're in Baja, where I'm assuming it's originally from. Sadly we were too full at this point but the taco was served with two big pieces of fish that is fried to golden brown. In the States, they usually just serve it with one piece so that alone gives this one an edge. Horchata - we ordered two horchatas and were surprised to see how huge they were! Served in a very heavy yet beautiful glassware. This horchata was refreshing and also helped eased the hotness of everything a bit. Special mention to the seafood soup and chips they serve complimentary as a starter. The seafood soup was my fiance's most favorite item on our table. It was rich, hot, and very comforting. We loved dipping the chips into it as well. Overall, our bill came to around $30 USD! I decided to come to TJs and only eat at taquerias. I went to multiple ones and they're all really, really solid. Like 8 out of 10. I had only one complaint: at every place I went to there wasn't really a salsa bar. So all the tacos get served with lime and radishes which is cool, but I'm used to having a salsa bar with pickled onions, pickled carrots, different salsas, etc. If any one of these places had this, the tacos would have been amazing! I'm actually going to copy and paste this portion to all the places I went to then my 2nd para I'l go into detail on what I ordered. So I only ordered the shrimp taco and it's so full of shrimps! It's kinda crazy. They also put melted cheese in it though I could have used more cheese. You also get a small serving of fish consume and it's stupid good. Parking: You can park across the street next to the Chevron. Look for two orange cones and a parking attendant. Tip 2-3 bucks and you are good all day. Don't park in front of the restaurant that is located to the left of the public parking area. It may look closed if you arrive before 11am. But they open at 11am and tow cars straight away. Drinks - The Jamaica is fresh. They have a beverage station in the dining room making fresh drinks to order. Surprise experience! There is a street market surrounding the restaurant for blocks on end. After eating your way through a few tacos, walk it off and check out an authentic street market. It's super safe! The best spot for the tastiest mariscos, hands down. Their signature taco is La Mazateña which comes overflowing with shrimp in chile sauce and cheese served on two corn tortillas. Or, you can upgrade for a few pesos more and get the Super Mazateña on flour tortillas. It comes naked and you add your own toppings, which they have on the table and include cabbage, pico de gallo, guacamole, crema, and limes. There are probably four or five different hot sauces in bottles to choose from as well. My other favorites are the marlin and good old fashioned fish tacos. I came here to try their aguachile, but also ordered a few tacos as well. They had pulpo enchilado and mariscos gratinados, which was a new item. Too bad they ran out of jamaica and didn't offer any other kind of drinks, so we each got a Mexican Coke. When you sit down, they give you complimentary chips, salsa, and consomme. The chips were really greasy and consumme was pretty good. They have a counter that makes tacos and another one that does other items on the menu, so not everything came out at once. The pulpo enchilado was crunchy and had lots grilled octopus in it- it was flavorful and delicious. The mariscos gratinados was alright to me- nothing really special about it. I tried my friend's shrimp taco and that was okay too. I couldn't wait to dig in the aguachile when it came out. There was a lot of shrimp and some avocado pieces on top.
