Tostada de pulpo - one is a complete meal.
    Hannah E.

I almost hesitate to add this little stand to Yelp for fear it'll get swamped, but hey, it deserves to get swamped. Or, rather, even more swamped than it is already. You can find it right outside the entrance to the Hidalgo Market, with a sign that lists all the varieties of seafood you can get in your cocktail, ceviche, tostada, or taco. I think I saw shrimp, octopus, clam, snail, and oyster before I ran out of Spanish vocabulary. I got one octopus ceviche tostada because I honestly wasn't all that hungry after a spin through the market - I thought it'd be small, edible in a few bites. Wrong! There was a mountain of stuff on there, all but burying the one lone crispy tortilla. Tentacles and tentacles of fresh, tender purple-skinned octopus vied for space with avocado slices, tomatoes, cucumbers, and onions, and the whole thing was slathered in a pepper-topped black sauce. Now, I'm not a huge fan of cocktail sauce or excessive pepper, so I wished they'd gone lighter on the topping, but at least they didn't also add mayonnaise (they did ask me if I wanted them to). The octopus itself, though, and the overall balance of ingredients, tasted somehow refreshing despite the strength and pungency of the sauce. The avocado was a magical touch, utterly necessary.

We are walking to the taco restaurants nearby, and seen this mariscos stand and stopped by. We ordered a campachena and a coctail. Both where very good, but sadly they where very light with the ingredients. We paid $300 pesos for both and a soda. There are a few more mariscos restaurants in about a three block radius, all of which are way better values. While this place is good on flavor, it's bad on value, we left still hungry and won't be returning.

Villa Marina, has been on my Tijuana radar and I finally was able to make it happen. The magnet to…read moreget here, was that I recently discovered they were the only restaurant that was advertising Puerto Nuevo lobster. So I got there on my first evening, and that's what I ordered. It took about 40 minutes to get to the table, but once it arrived, it was beautifully presented cooked optimally. The portion seemed a little smaller than I expected (came in only one 600 gm size). The lobster that was split in half sat on a moist bed of Spanish rice, came with refried beans and freshly grilled vegetables. See my pictures. The freshly made thin tortillas were superb, but one had to be careful or they would dry soon. After you finish, they give you an apperetiv, in a small cylindrical crystal glass. Basically, think of it like Kahlúa with milk, vanilla and ice. It was fantastic. The chips and salsas that preluded the main order were also superb. It is rarely and not always, that I go back to the same restaurant when I'm on a short trip. On top of that the next day? Yes, here it had to be the exception. So this second time, I was here to try the fish soup (exceptional) and the grilled loin of red snapper. I've heard of a pork loin, a beef loin, but this was a first. The entree is a large portion. A thick, succulent, colorful, well charred and grilled portion of seafood, with firm texture and spicy taste. Service here was high class, on both occasions. Two exceptional and hard to forget dining visits, in Tijuana. Wow.

The Gohan Roll was delicious and had a nice spicy kick, and the octopus ala brazas was excellent not chewy or too soft but tender. The best part of all was the flan for dessert. The restrooms were very clean. We received excellent service from Angel he was very attentive and friendly. I highly recommend this place if you're looking for seafood. Todo estaba muy delicioso el Gohan roll estaba muy rico y picosito, el pulpo alas brazas estaba muy bueno con su arroz. Lo mejor de todo era el flan para postre. Los baños estaban muy limpios. After a full day of serious self-care (doctor appointments, errands, and elite-level snack…read moreshopping), we arrived at El Puerto in Tijuana in the exact condition one should: hungry and slightly dramatic. First things first--the aguas frescas understood the assignment. Guava and cucumber were icy, fresh, and basically a reset button for the soul. My niece wanted something a little stronger - enter the fresa-kiwi mojito, which was refreshing enough to make her forget she had responsibilities earlier that day. The food? A seafood symposium: * My niece went with the filet al chipotle--tender, flavorful, and clearly the overachiever at the table. * My sister chose the tostada de pulpo, which was fresh, perfectly seasoned, and proof that octopus can, in fact, be a love language. * I handled a dozen oysters like a professional (and by professional, I mean zero regrets). * And my friend--who couldn't chew--casually asked if they could make breakfast... and they did. Enter: huevos rancheros, served without judgment and with full hospitality points. El Puerto is the kind of place where everyone gets exactly what they need--even if it's oysters, octopus, or breakfast at lunch. Great drinks, great food, and staff that actually listens. We came in tired, we left happy, hydrated, and slightly obsessed. Would absolutely return--preferably after more "self-care."

Small but cute restaurant. Great service and a delicious Zarrandeado. Cooked perfectly.read more
