Based on YELP reviews I made an appointment with Dave's Marine following an overheating problem…read morethat occurred on Fathers Day-June 15. The earliest appointment date was August 12, 2025. I brought the boat in on August 12, 2025 and Dave & I went over my concerns. An estimate was prepared around August 19, 2025 and I picked up the boat on August 29th. Dave took the time to really keep me updated with texts and photos throughout the repair process which was very helpful. I had additional work performed not related to the overheating issue(guages/gas tank access portal, and oil change and Dave did his general boat wellness check as well. Being retired I wanted to take the boat out that very weekend but since all my friends worked I was unable to do so. During that time I took the time to really clean up the boat and polish the gelcoat (Skwol Oxidation Polish & Wax) ) and refinish & clear coast the outdrive and really make the boat shine. I finally got to use the boat on Tuesday, September 9, 2025other retired riend was able to go with me. We went to Lake Perris and the boat performed perfectly. I can't even explain the happiness that I experienced knowing that everything worked. My friend and I spent probably 3+ hours on the lake which was close to being void of any boaters. I wanted to immediately write a review but I got lazy. Dave's Marine is now my go-to repair facility. They are completely competent and charged a reasonable amount for the work that was done. I'm glad I was patient enough to wait. There is a reason why there is a wait time as Dave proved that he was completely skilled enough to repair the boat the proper way keeping me informed all the way thru. I feel super-happy and I'd definitely recommend using their services

Instead, I decided to explore retrofitting the boat with modern digital systems. After some research, I found Gearhead Marine. From the very first conversation, I knew I had found the right shop. Courtney was fantastic. He clearly explained all my options and confidently told me, "When I'm done, you're going to have a brand-new boat." He was absolutely right! He completely overhauled my electrical and electronic systems, retrofitted everything to modern digital standards, and even took care of several issues on my trailer that I hadn't mentioned. He performed two separate sea trials to make sure every system was working perfectly before calling the job done. I couldn't be happier with the results. The boat now runs and handles better than it did when it was new. Courtney's expertise, attention to detail, and professionalism are outstanding. I will never let another boat mechanic touch my boat again. If you have an older boat or new one for that matter, that needs work, do yourself a favor and take it to Gearhead Marine. The owner water tested the boat and came back with a giant black 3-4" wide by 10' long rubbery stripe down one side of the boat...obviously hit something like a dock bury etc. He said it was just exhaust marks...I've been around boating for 51 years and this was in no way an exhaust ring on one side. They had to use an industrial solvent to clean it off and ended up etching a one foot stripe on the hull of my boat...also a giant scratch, of course everything with this guy is debate. I had the boat completely cut/buff detailed just days prior with full set of pictures at every angle showing the gel coat and boat looking beat with no scratches or marks. I'll never go back to this place and hate writing this but the service and work done at GS Marine was terrible!!! Also, the boat was an absolute mess full of pine needles and covered in dirt. HORRIBLE customer service. The staff again however were very helpful and totally understanding to all the issues and very apologetic. Maybe it's time for the staff to open their own shop and turn out great products that customers are telling all their friends about ???

He completed an oil change, impeller replacement, prop fluid change, installed a new starter, and replaced the water pump. On the same day visit, he was able to take apart the top end of my Mercruiser horizon 8.1l, and determine that the rocker, push rod, and lifter failed. To be able to determine a severe cause in engine failure in a single afternoon is both impressive, efficient, and a relief to know what the problem is and the plan of action to get it up and running. Second visit, he completed all of the repairs with all of the new parts. My engine was back up and running before the second weekend. I hadn't done it before, so I asked if I could hang out, watch and learn so I at least know what's going on inside there. Well my wheels didn't have nearly enough grease from the factory so it's good I had them come by, they replaced bearings and adjusted brakes, I'm confident in their work and know I'm safe on the road. Legit the kindest people you could ask for, thorough and know their stuff. I ask questions, they can answer them and explain what they're looking at and looking for.
