Not with this RN will this happen. A good Case Manager needs to advocate for the patient, especially with this subpar medical supply. I followed through and contacted my physician and did my part. I received a phone call to schedule an appointment to be fitted. I asked what the price would be. I was told that I had not yet paid my yearly deductible, I was also told that I did not have coverage for durable medical equipment, which was all wrong information. I was fully aware that I had met the deductible and was now in the 80/20 phase. I was told that further phone calls would need to be made. A few hours later, I received a call back, and she had corrected her information and said I would only owe $87 for the brace. I then scheduled my appointment to be fitted. The day of my appointment, I was told that the brace my doctor prescribed was not ordered and it would take a couple of weeks; however, there was a brace on site that was the same, I agreed to accept the brace. Upon checking out, the price of the back brace was $152, almost double the original quote. I was also told that my Medical records were required to submit to insurance. I informed them that had been done previously, and it should be in the system which they were.I have to wonder how many people that don't ask questions, pay far more out-of-pocket, then they are supposed to. Up until I turned 65 I used a big company to get my compact speedy catheters. Just before I turned Medicare eligible, the big company told me I was no longer eligible to get the speedy catheters that gave me freedom to do nomal activities. I was devastated and couldn't believe there was nothing, aside from going back to an open system, which would have prevented me from leaving the house AND, here's the kicker, I also had to have TWO urinary tract infections at least a month apart before being eligible. I called MI Med before arriving just to make sure they were open and that they would sell to me. The woman on the phone was very friendly and very helpful. Unfortunately due to being stuck at urgent care I made it to the store 15 min before they closed. The lady I spoke to on the phone (I can't remember her name) was the one that waited on us. Although she was due to close in 15 min she went above and beyond helping me find what I needed, she went in the back twice to go through inventory and called her boss a few times just to make sure they were able to get what I needed. She was never pushy or short and was extremely helpful and kind all while doing so! We ended up being there after the store closed and she continued with excellent customer service! I hope I don't need to visit anytime soon again lol but if I do this would definitely be the place I would go!!!
