I've been having severe heart burn and burning abdominal pain to a point where I couldn't sleep at nights and my life was becoming miserable. So i went and visited Dr. Davidson. He properly explained to me what i could potentially have (Acid Reflux) and suggested few diets. But since he realized I'm emotionally ill from my problem he booked me for Endoscopy right away. Two days after the procedure he personally phoned me himself to tell me the good news that im ok and my problem is nothing life threatening (GERD-- which i believe is acid reflux). Dr. Davidson is good. He was straightforward, listened very well and clearly cared about my health and about getting to the bottom of my issue. Problem is, I've had to leave him due to very very poor communication and follow-through with his office. They said they were undergoing some changes in the office so I understand some degree of error/bad communication. But they messed up too many times. If I wanted any follow-through I was the one who had to reach out and call. They said on multiple occasions that they would contact me regarding something but would fail to call and I would have to call a day later at which point they would either give me the answer or push me off further. For example, Dr. Davidson wanted to do an endoscopy but the office scheduled it without notifying me or asking my availability. Found out because I CALLED and checked in after waiting a day to hear. Had to cancel because I was unavailable. Another example, they put me on Nexium (which I've been on 30 days) and declined to tell me to take it before meals on an empty stomach. I've been unfortunately taking it with a full stomach the entire time. ----- Simple small details that can make a big difference were overlooked. Understandable, we're all human, but unacceptable when it comes to health. I wasted time here, got little to no resolution, and am now stuck finding a new GI doc. I wanted to finish this off with him because Davidson was good, but everything else was pretty lame. Update: Received a call from the dr himself and was able to explain my frustrations. He was not defensive and listened well. Again, good doctor. Doesn't change my experience with his staff. Still moving on. read more

I found Dr.Davidson off of Yelp, and it was such an amazing find! Over 7 months ago, I got food poisoning and since then my stomach hasn't been the same. I went to herbalists and holistic doctors who all told me I was suffering from a parasite and prescribed me extremely pricey herbs. After being on strict diets and taking the prescribed herbs, my stomach was still in the same condition. I decided I needed to find a experienced gastroenterologist. Dr. Davison's staff are so friendly, and kind and really made booking my appointment so easy. The even went the extra mile to see if my insurance was covered (every other office I called would make me verify myself!). Dr. Davidson is EXTREMELY thorough, and doesn't leave out any details. I didn't feel like just another patient walking through his door, he really took the time to listen and ask questions! After running labs he confirmed that I do not have a parasite, and since I've seen him he's the only doctor to actually help improve my stomach. I could not be more happy with the care provided by Dr Davidson! My father has a long line of varying health issues, and as a result we see many different doctors, about 6 different ones, specializing in different areas. We have seen many doctors over the years as well, and we are very fortunate to have Dr Davidson in our corner! We live half way across the world, and travel to see him every 6 months for a check up. He responds to our emails promptly, and is always available to deal with any of our questions over the phone. As a son, it is a huge relief to have someone like him only an email or phone call away for anything in relation to my fathers health. My father is very happy with him, and impressed by the level of care he provides. As an example, when my father was at Cedars Sinai Hospital, he would visit and check up on him daily. I'm an otherwise healthy person, but had massive recurring stomach pains starting a few years ago. I went to two other G.I.s who had misdiagnosed me with reflux (prescribing me antacids which did zero to help). I was throwing up, cramping, and losing my mind because the doctors couldn't figure out what was wrong. I finally found Dr. Davidson, who ran me through comprehensive tests. My blood work showed I had an inflammation (yay! It's not just in my head, which is what some doctors will tell you). After a colonoscopy, he discovered I had ulcerative colitis, which is a rare conditions in Asians (probably why the other the other G.I.s hadn't considered it?). He then was able to prescribe me the appropriate medication which IMMEDIATELY got my pain under control. I continue to see him every few months to keep my condition in check. He is always very responsive and helpful, (e.g. my medication is expensive and my insurance online pharmacy service is spotty, so he makes sure I get free samples to tide me over if there's a gap with me receiving my meds). There are fancier offices in Beverly Hills, and other G.I.s who don't take insurance and demand large payments up front. Dr. Davidson's practice, while professional, may not have all the frills, but that's not what's important in making sure you have the best care. My condition was getting in the way of my every day life (making it hard to go to work, take care of my kids or even think), and had stymied other doctors. Dr. Davidson treated me for hepatitis C for 48 weeks. He came highly recommended by my primary physician and I understand why. He always took the time to answer all of my questions (believe me, there were many), he had the pharmaceutical specialist come in to sit with me and go over the self-injections, he even called me at home when I started treatment to see how I was feeling. The bloodwork was always fast and he always called me right away with my results. He has a rather dry sense of humor which always made me laugh and I think that is what another reviewer interpreted as cold but he's really not cold at all - he's direct but funny and easy to talk to. They put me on the schedule today as a new patient because I was in pain even though he doesn't usually see patients on Tuesdays. His staff was extremely helpful and kind. The doctor was not only on time, but he was actually early! His bedside manner was wonderful and his approach is great. Any surgery is awkward and a pain in the ass (pun intended). The pre op is uncomfortable but that has nothing to do with the doctor. Dr. Davidson was super cool from the moment I met him. Viva and the staff were also great. You can joke and talk to them like an old friend. "The rock n roll life style" may have caught up to me in older age but it's nice to be treated kind and human. The minute he walked in the o.r. It was calm and like a great conducted he gave good orderly direction. So pass the meds and roscoes for the staff and a fine wine for the good doctor... I recently was admitted to Cedars Sinai hospital for some gastro related issues that I have never experienced before. My primary care physician sent Dr. Mark Davidson to come check on me in the hospital to figure out the issue. He is patient, kind hearted, informative, knowledgeable, and most importantly exemplifies wonderful bedside manner. I made an appointment with this doctors office, as it is time to get another colonoscopy. My old doctor now charges $500 extra, in the form of an "administration fee" if you go to him. When I asked what that $500 fee covers, which is not refundable by insurance, they said the $500 fee is for writing any prescriptions and for their secretary answering the phone if you call. I was disgusted at such greed that now pervades a segment of the doctors that I used to go to. I understand you want to be rich, but come on. You have been out of medical school for years In response to being told that I owe this $500 fee in case my doctor writes me a prescription, I noted, "Well, isn't that part of what you pay the doctor for? To write prescriptions? Isn't that part of his job as a doctor?" The sense of entitlement, and the belief that you were going out of the way, by writing your patient a prescription is absolutely out of bounds. Like, sorry to bother you, Doc. You actually have to take three seconds to write a prescription. I asked, as I do virtually every time that I make a doctors appointment anywhere, "Are you in network with such and such insurance company?" So when I came in for my appointment, I was shocked to hear that they wanted $200.00 from me, when my co-pay is only $25.00, according to my insurance company and my insurance card I have just read again. When I expressed my shock, the receptionist lied to me, she straight out lied. She said, "I told you it would be $200.00." To make her life sounds more credible, she said, "I remember talking to you." I was stunned by the audacity of her lie. I would absolutely NEVER consider going to a doctor that has a $200.00 co-pay, especially with my insurance co-pay only being $25.00. If she would have told me on the phone that it is $200.00 to tell a doctor you want to get a colonoscopy, because it has been 8 years, I would have hung up immediately wire to the sticker shock, she had me sign paperwork, it knowledge Ing that they. Prior to the sticker shock, she had me sign paperwork, acknowledging that they charge you $25 each to get an authorization from your insurance company for imaging or anesthesia, which most people need to set up a colonoscopy. They even charge $25 to get a prior auth for medication, which most people need at the beginning of the year. I don't know what other charges they pay, but I don't want to find out. It is sad that so many good doctors have such terrible staff, and they just never have enough money to keep them selves happy. I pay for a PPO, so paying $200.00 to a Gastro doctor for an office visit that last probably five minutes, if you get that much time with him, is ridiculous. The dishonesty of that receptionist really turned me off. Go find the tape where you told me an office visit is $200.00, lady. read more

I had such a bad experience at this doctors office that I left balling crying. First of all, I was waiting for about an hour before the doctor would even see me. They then tried this test on me and instructed me incorrectly so I had to take it again. The nurse tried to take my blood and didn't hit my vein and my arm is so sore that I can't unbend it. The kind of care you get from the office staff is, for me, indicative of the kind of care you're likely to get from the physician, and on this score, i'm afraid for my life. Just getting through to the overworked receptionist is a chore, then when you do, she's one of those people who will tell you ANYTHING just to get you off of the phone...even lie. This little playlet has been acted out for three days...Can you call back in ten minutes?, Can you call back in an hour? I'll call you back (no call), we don't have your chart here (they did). I had a true five star experience with Dr. Davidson (and his team) from start to finish. Making an appointment with him through his assistant was easy because she was VERY helpful. She took the time to help me fax my previous medical records to their office, and I did not get a single negative comment from her about how long the process took. During my actual visit with Dr. Davidson, I was impressed by his professional yet friendly nature. I have a tendency to get upset with doctors who seem to "blow me off" or disregard my concerns; I NEVER felt this from Dr. Davidson. He listened to my long-winded history with a smile, asked many follow up questions, conducted his assessments, and seemed genuinely interested in me as a person. One of his nurses or medical assistants helped me to find a lab in the building after my visit, and another helped me to find a pharmacy close to my home for medications. Dr. Davidson has been my mother's primary physician for 2.5 years and I highly recommend him. He takes detailed notes when he is in the room with us.
