When my long-time family doctor passed away, I was racing against the clock in search of a new internal medicine physician due to a fast-approaching major surgery. Although located on famed "Restaurant Row" in Beverly Hills, California, if you're looking for a trendy or "luxe" medical office, you're in the wrong place. What it lacks in luxury, however, is more than compensated by the warm & welcoming staff & treatment you receive as a patient. When Dr. Sima walked into the room during our first meeting, I immediately felt cared for. Not only is he knowledgeable & intelligent, but he was friendly, down-to-earth, kind, funny, & reassuring. He graciously agreed to step-in & assume the role as my primary care physician, & from the moment we met, Dr. Sima reached over, touched me, & said with a warm & reassuring smile, "we're going to get you better." He took care of my exams, tests, & pre-op. He tackled issues that presented themselves as major stumbling blocks to the upcoming surgery, & immediately called his colleagues on my behalf (while I was sitting there), & coordinated additional treatments & visits with other experts from Cedars-Sinai who were immediately added to my care team. Considering that time was of the essence, Dr. Sima helped eliminate practically all of the "red-tape" that I may have had to endure on my own, & helped enable me to quickly access the care I so desperately needed at that time without delay. During my stay as an inpatient at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Dr. Sima visited me on numerous occasions. He not only checked-on my status, made recommendations, & noted my progress as an inpatient, but he showed genuine concern & compassion as he aims to treat the "whole person." Understanding that smiles & laughter are wonderful additions to modern medicine in the promotion of healing, Dr. Sima even hung out for a little while & watched my favourite cartoons with me during an inpatient visit! I never thought I would giggle so much from my hospital bed! A doctor who is knowledgeable, compassionate, kind, funny, AND loves cartoons as much as I do? BONUS!!! I love this office!!!! The entire staff is friendly, professional, welcoming and super accommodating. Myra met with me first to take the standard vitals. Her energy was fantastic and she set the tone for the rest of my appointment. Next I was greeted by Dr. Sima. He was on time and personable which is a rare encounter when dealing with doctors. He genuinely was engaged with me as his patient. He was able to make proper diagnosis during our exam. I love that his office is a one stop shop! I had to get an ultrasound & blood work while there, and I just walked 5 steps to the next room to complete. The epitome of convenience. Dana completed an ultrasound of my neck. She made sure I was comfortable. She was quick but thorough. Last, but certainly not least, Alem was the phlebotomist. I am not a fan of getting blood drawn, however, she made it painless and quick. Just truly most awful Dr. Misdiagnosed and ignored cat scan results. Said I was fine and I am and was far from it. Missed the boat. To busy talking about himself in alpha male style to see the problems I had needed more than their unsanitary machines to find. A spit test. So many more missed exams would have been smart. I just had the worst experience with Dr. Sima's office. I have been a patient for several years and found him to be a very good doctor, even though the wait times to see him were always long. I was recently prescribed Meloxicam when I was diagnosed with arthritis after visiting my Orthopedist for pain I was experiencing in my elbow. He prescribed Meloxicam which worked. When I called his office to give him an update, he said that I should see my Internist and get future refills through him. So I made an appointment with Dr. Sima and discussed the situation and he gave me a refill for Meloxicam when I ran out. I was preparing to go out of the country for 2 weeks and didn't have enough pills to cover that time period so I called his office for a refill. I called several times over the next few days and got no response. The day before I was to leave for vacation, his nurse informed me that he WOULD NOT refill the prescription and that I needed see a doctor that handles pain management. Why did he give me a refill initially? Why didn't he just tell me that I needed to see a doctor for pain management, I would have been happy to do so? What kind of doctor does that!? I am horrified that a highly regarded doctor would treat a patient in this manner; the least he could have done was prescribe enough pills for me to get through my trip. I am 75 years old and I have never had a doctor show such a low-level of compassion, that will cause me to spend my vacation in arthritic pain. read more

I am a senior citizen suffering from chronic asthma and/or COPD. I have been to many doctors for this issue, but still no relief. Dr. Sima's reviews were impressive, so I made an appointment for Friday 5/28 at 2:40 PM, around 10 days in advance. I know the neighborhood on La Cienega well and I knew that parking might be challenging. The office informed me in advance that I could park in the building for $19, but I found a convenient space on the street with a one hour meter, when I parked at 2:30 PM. As this was an initial consult, I was confident I'd be done before 4 or could run out briefly and move the car. I checked in with the receptionist. The waiting room crowded and more patients streamed in. By 3 PM no one had said a word to me. I asked the receptionist how far behind the doctor was and mentioned that my meter would expire at 4. She could not tell me when I would be seen, but told me that I should be finished by 4. I was finally brought back to an exam room around 3:20, 40 minutes beyond my appointment time. A nurse took my vitals. She was nice enough. Before she left, I asked again, how long before the doctor would see me, but she couldn't answer. At 3:45 still no sign of the doctor. I went back to the receptionist, quite angry and wanting to leave, but hoping she might apologize/explain and tell me the doctor is ready to see me. She was on the phone. I said, "I'm leaving" and she gestured that I should wait, but no thanks. Dr. Sima may, in fact, be a great physician, but only he is responsible for how his practice is run and the quality of the patients' experience. As a senior citizen, I have obviously experienced many visits, with many doctors, but this office and this practice are an absolute disaster, to be avoided at all costs. read more

AMAZING doctor-- I am so thankful for Dr. Sima. I went to a highly rated allergist who was convinced that I had asthma, but Dr. Sima determined that diagnosis to be 100% false. He reviewed the allergist's paperwork and did comprehensive testing of his own, and found that none of the tests (including the allergist's) would lead to a conclusion of anything other than allergies. I would have been on an asthma inhaler indefinitely, perhaps for the rest of my life, if I had not sought a second opinion from Dr. Sima. His office staff is so nice and thoughtful, too. After three years of being misdiagnosed with chronic bronchitis by numerous ER doctors and my then doctor, taking steroids several times a year, chronic use of antibiotics, being told to use Advair, and using a daily rescue inhaler, Dr. Sima correctly diagnosed me in less than five minutes. After being in and out of ER's for so long, I had developed a horrific cough that led to stress incontinence, inability to talk, drive or work, and inability to sleep for more than a couple hours a night. Dr. Sima literally gave me my life back! I just wish I would have met him sooner. He is THE most amazing physician I have encountered in decades. Because of a childhood orthopedic problem, I have been to more doctors than most people see in a lifetime. Dr. Sima is compassionate, knowledgeable, kind, super upbeat and positive, and overall absolutely wonderful! He and his staff take exceptional care of all of their patients. BEWARE!!! I went in for a free consultation--never saw this office or doctor before. After waiting over an hour--the front office is very rude and horrible--I had a consultation with the doctor on call. Dr. Sima is not there anymore. During the consultation, the doctor advised an unnecessary procedure that was sent to their lab and billed to my insurance without my permission. In fact, I had insisted that the test be thrown out and not sent to their lab. Resulting bill was outrageous, complete price gauging. Dr. Sima is such a wonderful, rare find of a doctor. After seeing a handful of terrible and unhelpful doctors over the past few years, I had almost completely lost faith in western medicine. I was continually having various issues and symptoms dismissed as nothing, or stress/mental related. I showed up to Dr. Sima's office, skeptical and expecting the same sort of treatment. However, he was the complete opposite. He is so attentive, warm, energetic and knowledgable. He spent a good of time with me, listening to the list of issues I'd brought to him. After a quick examination, he identified I was having bad allergies that were causing pretty much all the issues I'd been having these past few years. So simple and yet somehow my previous primary care doctor I'd seen 3x in the past year, a nurse practitioner, and an ENT specialist didn't catch. Dr. Sima spent time explaining to me what was going on, and was very thorough in his approach. As someone else mentioned below, he has great energy and I felt very at ease in his presence. It's SUCH a relief to find a competent, amazing doctor that actually knows what he's doing and with such a phenomenal bedside manner to boot. Today was my first appointment with Dr. Sima- And I feel like I just won the lottery. A bit of my history- I am the daughter of a doctor so i have been very lucky and priveleged to have always had great medical care until i moved to LA 7 yrs ago and did not know anyone in town. I relied on reviews online and for the past few years it was fine because luckily I did not get sick or need any major attention-my drs. were mediocre at best. Well, now that i finally needed some medical treatment i needed to find someone ASAP and i was referred to Dr.Sima by a collegue. He is AMAZING for the following reasons: 1.) You will feel his energy the moment he walks in the room- its a breath of fresh air. And for someone who has been beat down by horrible medical care, believe me, this is huge. 2.)
