Medical Office of Dr. Amanuel Sima - Beverly Hills, CA
    Birdie M.

When my long-time family doctor passed away, I was racing against the clock in search of a new internal medicine physician due to a fast-approaching major surgery. After several attempts to find a new internal medicine doctor who was knowledgeable, skilled, compassionate, & willing to accept a new last-minute patient with a complex case, proved unsuccessful, a family friend recommended Dr. Amanuel Sima. Although located on famed "Restaurant Row" in Beverly Hills, California, if you're looking for a trendy or "luxe" medical office, you're in the wrong place. What it lacks in luxury, however, is more than compensated by the warm & welcoming staff & treatment you receive as a patient. When Dr. Sima walked into the room during our first meeting, I immediately felt cared for. Not only is he knowledgeable & intelligent, but he was friendly, down-to-earth, kind, funny, & reassuring. He graciously agreed to step-in & assume the role as my primary care physician, & from the moment we met, Dr. Sima reached over, touched me, & said with a warm & reassuring smile, "we're going to get you better." He took care of my exams, tests, & pre-op. He tackled issues that presented themselves as major stumbling blocks to the upcoming surgery, & immediately called his colleagues on my behalf (while I was sitting there), & coordinated additional treatments & visits with other experts from Cedars-Sinai who were immediately added to my care team. Considering that time was of the essence, Dr. Sima helped eliminate practically all of the "red-tape" that I may have had to endure on my own, & helped enable me to quickly access the care I so desperately needed at that time without delay. During my stay as an inpatient at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Dr. Sima visited me on numerous occasions. He not only checked-on my status, made recommendations, & noted my progress as an inpatient, but he showed genuine concern & compassion as he aims to treat the "whole person." Understanding that smiles & laughter are wonderful additions to modern medicine in the promotion of healing, Dr. Sima even hung out for a little while & watched my favourite cartoons with me during an inpatient visit! I never thought I would giggle so much from my hospital bed! A doctor who is knowledgeable, compassionate, kind, funny, AND loves cartoons as much as I do? BONUS!!! Seriously...he really brought a smile to my face when he would visit. I may have a long way to go, but I want to say "Thank You" to Dr. Sima for everything. You made a positive difference in my life during a very challenging time, & I cannot thank you enough. You were truly a Blessing & a bright star on my care team.

If I come across an article about some new drug or other health news that I'm interested in, I can send it to her and we'll discuss if it's right for me. When I go in for an appointment, she takes her time to listen and talk about my concerns. Truly, I give her my highest recommendation. She's a rare jewel in our crowded, chaotic health care system!

I reached out because I feared I may have contracted a very scary life-threatening medical issue- something that with better warning and follow up care on the part of her and a specialist, likely could have been prevented. When I got the diagnosis from Dr. Sari for the very thing I feared, I became understandably terrified, sad, and couldn't help but cry. I apologized for being upset and despite my own emotions, I felt it was important for me to give some feedback about why this diagnosis was extra upsetting to receive. I respectfully expressed that I felt I had been let down by her and the specialist for not being warned or given proper instruction to take a common OTC supplement that would've prevented this. While I was in tears because of the diagnosis, she quite literally scolded me over the phone because of this feedback. She deflected all responsibility onto the specialist, despite me reaching out to her to confirm the specialist's treatment plan was safe and well-informed for my situation- something I thought was a standard thing to expect of your primary care physician who has a more complete picture of your health history. She proceeded to have a complete emotional outburst and said some really nasty things to me, singling me out as a patient, and yelling over me as I tried to speak. I was completely stunned. Feeling very overwhelmed and upset by her argumentative confrontation in response to reasonable feedback, I tried to diffuse the situation by pleading with her, saying I didn't feel this was an appropriate time to do this, she had just given me a serious diagnosis. I had to get my tears together to reason with her and said "Dr. Sari, please I'm not trying to argue with you" - her exact words were "GOOD! THEN DONT!" Not to mention before the testing she said I could take an OTC med that, if I had the thing I was asking about, could've killed me. I'm glad I didn't take it, since my test was positive. While Dr. Sari is generally pleasant, it seems in times where it matters most, she lacks real compassion for people who are reasonably concerned about their health. I gave the same feedback to the specialist & he calmly and professionally heard my concern and agreed he should have mentioned the OTC supplement to prevent that diagnosis. Dr. Eitches' inability to remain compassionate and professional when giving someone a very scary diagnosis ensures I never want to receive bad news from her again. She made an already bad day so much worse, and I initially thought there must be something major going on in her personal life, surely she'll realize how inappropriate that was later, but she never reached out to apologize for how she handled that day. That says the most of all to me. I debated writing this review because she was so immediately reactionary I expect she might write a response implying (as she did while scolding me over the phone that day) that I was a difficult patient, in order to deflect from her completely inappropriate behavior. Before our call she already seemed to be annoyed that I emailed after hours when I became violently ill suddenly, despite me being told by her it's fine to call with questions and concerns during office hours and to email after hours- something I only did when I was genuinely concerned about my health & I very rightly was in this case. I said I was happy to make an appointment- my after hours email was just to get an initial read on whether my situation was life-threatening & get tested before a long holiday weekend where things would be closed. Maybe that makes me a difficult patient to a doctor like Dr. Eitches. But I'm writing this review ultimately because this has deeply affected me emotionally & made me avoidant of seeking out care. I will also be at higher risk of getting this issue again for the rest of my life. I don't want another potential patient to be the emotional punching bag for Dr. Sari, and be spoken to as if you're a bother, and a nuisance for being concerned about severe and sudden symptoms. It cost me $350 for the 15 minute phone call where I was dismissed, shamed and screamed at that day. A doctor is not just there to order tests or write prescriptions- especially one who doesn't accept insurance for "better care". How doctors listen to us and speak to us matters. Nothing will outweigh the bottom line- A doctor should never EVER talk to a patient the way she talked to me, let alone while in tears during a scary diagnosis. I had many good years with her like many reviews reflect but this is a real possibility of what you might get with her, as I did, completely unexpectedly. I recommend if you're on the fence, you seek out someone without any history of brazenly scolding a scared patient, with seemingly no remorse.

This gives me a good perspective on what constitutes excellent patient care. By every measure, Jill Broffman is clearly far and away the best primary care physician I have ever known -- and I have known countless numbers of physicians. That's why she's mine and my wife's and adult daughter's doctor. She's extremely attentive, involved in my well-being, and stresses preventative care. Her genuine concern for my health has lead me to take considerably better care of myself. She involves me in my health care. She's collaborative with me, rather than dictatorial. The results have been amazing. Her expertise is extraordinary. She's an associate professor of medicine at UCLA. She keeps up-to-date on the latest medical and health information and techniques, as well as alternative therapies. Don't underestimate the importance to your well being of the relationships your primary care physician maintains with specialists. The specialists Dr. Broffman has referred me to are the most highly regarded. Almost as important, specialists hold her in such high regard that I am always seen promptly and treated with great respect. Make no mistake about it, to a specialist, who refers you makes a difference. When I got hurt or ill, Dr., Broffman has always been quick to respond and if necessary, immediately squeeze me into her busy schedule. If she thinks it may be something serious, she'll use what I call her "ruthless compassion," to get me evaluated and treated. Most important, she's always friendly and delightful to see. Is there a downside? Yes. Because so many of her patients are evangelical about her, I'm not sure how many new patients she'll take. You pay her office and get reimbursed by your insurance company (if you have health insurance).

The best doctor I've seen in years!…read more Dr. Wolf is a real kind-hearted, hands-on, skilled pulmonologist at Cedars Sinai medical center. (My favorite hospital.) The office is clean and professional, COVID 19 safety measures are in effect throughout Cedars Sinai medical buildings and offices, masks are required and worn, masks are available for patients who need one as well. Nice! I sometimes wish the whole world would adopt the mission statement that Cedars Sinai adopted a few years ago which helped Cedars improve their hospital ranking and save a lot of lives. -"Always put the lives of people first." This mission is why it should come as no surprise to me that I'd find another incredible doctor here. Lucky me for being referred here by another amazing Cedars Sinai doctor. Lucky you for following this friendly neighborhood yelper! Dr. Wolf took his time while reviewing my long (and sometimes pretty incredible!) medical history, he asked me a lot of questions and took notes about everything. Dr. Wolf ruled out a long list of potential reasons why my lungs are filled with fluid since February 2021, from heart failure to allergies, hereditary conditions and illness by reading and reviewing every test I've been given along with every medication which had no affect. (A lot!) If you or a loved one have allergies, asthma, emphysema, shortness of breath, long term COVID-19 breathing problems, or pseudo pneumonia for a couple of years, this doctor is for you. Breathing problems, chest pain and fluid in the lungs can be a sign of something serious, so get checked out! Dr. Wolf gave me the most thorough and thoughtful exam I've been given in a long time! Afterwards, Dr. Wolf ordered additional tests and gave instructions to his office who helped me get expedited tests and medical clearances. You will be in good hands here. I highly recommend Dr Wolf to you guys, my beloved family and community, the same crew who helped me get through my serious medical problems and life threatening health challenges.:) Many thanks doctor to Dr. Wolf and Cedars Sinai for spending so much time with me!
