I went into emergency because I was short of breath. Wow, come to find out it was my heart. I was hospitalized for 3 nights and 4 days. I received the best of care, the doctors were outstanding and everyone on my floor provided me with compassion, kindness and respect. In fact, my nurses went above and beyond their regular duties, i.e. found a charger for my phone, had a wonderful NCIU nurse come in and handle my tiny veins, to all the little touches that make a difference in a hospital stay. I was so spoiled I would not have minded staying longer! read more

This marks our second occasion utilizing this medical facility for an ocular injury. On both instances, direct care was not administered; instead, we were provided with a referral to a local ophthalmologist who is not currently accepting new patients. The most recent incident involved my daughter, and despite contacting the emergency line twice, we did not receive a return call from their office. Nevertheless, it is anticipated that the hospital will submit a claim to my insurance provider for services that were not rendered. My daughter's condition has not improved since our visit to the hospital. Furthermore, the emergency room physician consulted his personal device and requested permission to photograph the injury for research purposes. This level of care is concerning, as I could have independently sought information and a potential diagnosis, for example, through an AI-powered conversational agent, which proved to be more comprehensive and empathetic in its response. For future eye-related concerns, I recommend considering Jackson. read more

They almost killed me, they wouldn't treat a simple melanoma tumor on my uncle's shoulder because he didn't have insurance, and while I was there at the ER I woke up to being strapped down, I freaked out because of that closterphic feeling and as I was struggling to get my hands out they stood in the corner of the room and were laughing. Then they gave me a forced contrast mri shot against my will. Then within a week I developed neuropathy in my feet and have had multiple disabilities since. Also my dad ended up there and a week later they called me up saying he died when he was totally savable. Don't go to this hospital. That forced contrast injection that I denied was a violation of my rights and I should pursue legal actions. read more

Last visit I had with a so-called doctor at Dignity Health San Andreas was an older dr grey hair with a beard in overweight I won't mention the names but was assisting Dr. Robles, who I could not get an appointment with I've had colitis and a liver transplant. My stomach had been killing me for months. I went there for the problem and explained my stomach and diarrhea problems I've been having. He told me everything was fine. Blood test look good. All they were were standard blood test. I told him something's wrong he said no you're good so there's nothing I could do I asked? His remarks were no. He didn't even bother requesting a test for my stomach. Just use my standard blood test. I had a week prior for my liver monitoring. I was so mad. I just walked out went to another doctor at stanford and found out from the stool test that that doctor gave me that I had antigen in my stool thank God I went to the other doctor if I let that go it could've ended up putting me in the hospital for a months! I'll never go to this hospital again for anything other than my standard blood test to monitor my liver. My experience with these doctors if that's what they are, are very incompetent. read more

On August 23,2025 my wife was transported by American Legion Ambulance from Angels Camp to Mark Twain Medical Center in critical condition. Once there the ER Staff started life saving treatment on her and had an onsite surgical team (this was a Saturday morning) immediately start working on her. She was stabilized and placed on life support and flown by REACH helicopter to Saint Josephs Hospital in Stockton. She remained in critical condition for days in ICU and apparently coded twice. Had the Mark Twain Emergency Room staff and the Surgical team not- provided the medical care they did she would not have survived. That said, she recently had another medical emergency and again was taken to Mark Twain. Once again, they provided fantastic care. This time she remained in Mark Twain and the entire staff was unbelievable. My wife is still here today thanks to the entire staff at Mark Twain. read more

Update on my review: had a shoulder x-ray at Alpine Orthopedic on 4/9 and it showed a fracture. You might have your radiologist take another look at my x-ray taken on 3/26! The only reason I am following up is not to complain, but to remind management to be certain their staff provides outstanding customer service to their patients and to properly diagnose any tests that are taken. I've had to go to this ER 4 times for myself and twice for my kids. Every single time has been a pleasant experience. The staff is friendly, the Drs are caring and attentive and the wait time has always been quick. Jon is the absolutely best. He was able to make me laugh when I was in the throes of the worst panic attack I've ever had. I thought I was having a heart attack and he was so kind. The doctor I had today for a diverticulitis flare up (unfortunately I don't remember his name) explained things to me, made sure I understood my options, made sure I was comfortable with his suggestions and talked to me for a long time while answering my questions. I've never felt rushed, talked down to or made to feel foolish for going in. I'm so thankful to have this ER to go to! read more

I have repeated bouts of pneumonia and these people either ship me out or offer no real solution to the problem. I came in recently with a 103 temp and clear pneumonia in my lungs. I asked for pain relief they waited 3 hours to get to me. The absolute worst hospital. I would rather have a thousand paper cuts then ever go back to this facility. I went to the emergency room for a lung issue. The care I received was outstanding. They saved my life. Everyone I encountered was kind, professional and thorough. I was hospitalized for 3 days and was treated with a high quality of care and without exception, incredible compassion. I am grateful for the safe environment they created around me. I had surgery here in Feb 2023, it is now Sept 2023 and the NIGHTMARE of their 3rd party billing "service" is still going on. First, I want to say I loved the surgeon, staff and treatment I received at Mark Twain Medical Center, couldn't have hoped for better care. Five Stars for the medical care! The problem is with the poor excuse of a company they outsource their billing to. Never a straight answer, constantly hung up on, NEVER get the same answer twice and have never received a call back from a supervisor after 3 requests. I always opt in to do a survey after the call but never have been connected to survey. I asked to speak with someone in billing in person but was told to call a faceless name in Stockton-3 additional attempts and never a call back. Unfortunately if I need surgery in future; I will not go back only because of this billing nightmare. read more

This er is a joke, waited over 3 hours and didn't even get seen. I came in with RSV symptoms. They did not want to take me back to a room for IV or exam nor swab me to confirm a positive test or not. I have asthma, was having extreme chest pain, trouble breathing, cough that would not go away, and felt weak n dizzy. This ER is the closest one to me and about an hour away. I will have to find another clinic to go to tomorrow as I am still not feeling better. Do not come to this hospital even if it is closest to you, drive further or you will regret it read more

Ended our weekend with a quick trip to this ER!! Because what weekend fishing get away isn't complete without a trip to an ER!! I was advised by a few people to avoid this ER, @this is where people go to die waiting"! Well on a Sunday morning at 6:30 am your choices are VERY VERY limited!! The actual incident happened at 6:30 am and by the time we got off the lake (ok, fine.... I managed to get a crank bait stuck into the side of my knee!! Luckily only 2 of the 6 hooks got me!!) we got to this ER by like 9.. I was back in a room by 9::12 I was in a room, 9:27 the dr was in the room, 9:32 my liner was numbed and at 9:40 the lure was out of my knee!!!!! By 9:50 I had paid my bill (super cheap!!!! I don't have insurance so it was cash pay and we were shocked at how cheap it was). I was in and out in just under an hour!! The Dr who took out the lure was awesome!! He tried something kinda cool that worked like a charm leaving me without stitches and saving the lure!!! Honestly pretty impressed! The place was clean and the staff was awesome!! I arrived here on Thanksgiving day, because (thankfully) it was the only place open in the region. I drove from an hour away. My experience was very positive. The initial intake was very friendly and quick. I was being attended to by the doctor within 20 minutes of arrival! The second intake nurse was kind, personable and professional. I felt well cared for which was wonderful. The doctor took the time to explain my treatment options thoroughly and answered my questions in an insightful and understanding way. I've been ejected from this "Hellspital" both were ambulance trips, without being treated or properly diagnosed. I was charged full price as if they had treated me. I am disputing the charges! I have informed my ambulance company that I will never go to this ER or be admitted to this GOD awful place. I'll go to Sutter-Amador in Jackson 15 miles north for professional medical care. Had some heart related issues the other night at about midnight and decided to go to the ER to check it out and ended up at Mark Twain medical center ER I was immediately treated and checked in and the staff there including the highly qualified nurse I forget her name treated me immediately with a variety of analysis and we're very thorough I found the staff highly qualified from the receptionist to the doctor and the nurse and everybody in between The ER was very clean with modern equipment and great customer service They gave me a diagnosis and a prescription and I was very pleased with being there I would drive an hour and past my local hospital to get to this ER anytime read more

I find many of these reviews seem to be written by either very immature adults, or angry children. I went to Mark Twain as a 'tourist' with 0 insurance or anything to offer the FIRST time, I left with a month of temporary insurance and ended up with a year of insurance. Thank God for that, as I soon came down with a serious issue that required immediate attention, so I went back. Dr. Petty and the ENTIRE staff at Mark Twain treated me with the utmost respect, to say the least. I am not rich, I am not special, I am human, which is exactly how they treated me. Some don't know how well off they are, in another country you can die from a simple infection, this is America however, and at Mark Twain it shows. Even though I had no insurance they got me transferred into mercy San Juan into the neuro science unit, which possibly saved my life, I am here currently, why is nobodies concern but my own, and the staff at Mark Twain apparently. Once again, think hard before you talk down on such people, not one of us is perfect. I would like to add that before I came in knowing that my life could be on the line, they set me up with Dr. Faryan, who works in the clinic on the same grounds. A better man I have not met, when it comes to being honest about life/medical problems, if YOU are, he will listen and help you in a fashion lost on this generation. The same goes for the facility and staff at Mark Twain, clean, courteous, life savers. My Wife & I went to the ER today (6/23/2020) and it was BEYOND A SHADOW OF A DOUBT WORST EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE!! Save yourself time and anger and avoid this ER like the plague!! We waited almost 5 hours LITERALLY to see a doctor. When we finally got to see the doctor (Thomas Miller) he was in and out in three minutes and thirty seven seconds. I actually timed it!! It was obvious he did not care about my wife's condition at all!! In all honesty it looked like he was annoyed for us even being there! The sure lack of caring and unprofessionalism upset my wife!! We felt disrespected and so pissed off we quickly left. So do yourselves a favor and go somewhere else!!Waiting almost 5 hours for a three minute appointment is FUCKING BULLSHIT! The ER is a waste of time and money. Took my husband there for severe GI symptoms and the doctor didn't examine him at all. He odered a CT scan and sent us away. The doctor had a poor bedside manner and couldn't be bothered with us. Should not have given that ER another chance. I know we are going to get hit with a huge medical bill for nothing. read more

I went in to the ER with chest pain and dizziness. They promptly had me in a room with a kind nurse and connected to an EKG (+1 star). Before anything else could happen, their billing person was in the room to collect $1200. (-1 star) I was there for about 7 hours with no water or food but the doctor never found anything wrong with me (-1 star) and in fact ordered things over the course of the day that the nurse disagreed with and so were not done (-1 star). (seriously, the nurse knew more than the doctor??) The finally decided to release me, said it was heartburn and sent me home with an Rx for dizziness and heartburn. (huge eye roll since they had me on the dizziness rx while I was there and it did not help alleviate the symptom.) They said they would call to help connect me with another physician who would follow up with more tests and with their referral I could get in earlier than if I just called. This never happened. (-1 star). Their billing system deserves another (-1 star) if I could, but since Yelp's lowest rating is 1 star, that's what they get. After my payment on the day of my visit, I learned that the bill only covered the hospital's cost and not the physician's services. I was billed a nomimal amount as my insurance covered the rest. I scheduled prompt and regular online payments and yet they threatened collections for $25 between payment 2 and 3 (the final payment). I made the final payment prior to the collections date and they continue to text and mail me about the last $25, which was paid two months ago. Overall, this was a huge waste of time and money, and an unpleasant customer experience. Completely dissatisfied, I would never go there again unless I had absolutely no other option. There is no urgent care around and I could not get in with my primary care doctor so I went to the ER for a cough, asthma, and obvious symptoms of an upper respiratory infection. The staff made me wait in my car; I was not allowed inside the building. The RN sort-of took my vitals in my car, the MD sort-of listened to my lungs in my car and that was the extent of my exam. Worthless. The MD gave me a list of over the counter medications to go buy and sent me on my way. I have good insurance and my portion for this ridiculous visit was over $700.00. I asked for antibiotics which I knew I needed but the MD refused. I had to to go my primary care physician for antibiotics 2 days later. read more

Only giving 1 star cause we had to. Seriously though, even in a medical emergency I recommend driving further out. Lodi, Jackson even Stockton would be a better option. Nurses have shifty attitudes, and only staff 1 Dr. So you'd be lucky to be out in under 2 hours even on the most straight forward cases. There's no bedside manor, no check in from support staff. You will sit in the triage room or lobby for an hour in pain, with no comfort measures offered while you wait. God forbid you ask them how long it might take... it would be met with empty excuses sprinkled with attitude. I work in the medical field. Nurses were nice. ER doctor was a total prick. I was actually made out to feel like a selfish prick and wound up crying when my son had a gash in his head. The doctor sure knew how to make me feel less then and like me and my son were the most un important people there. What did I say to get talked down to so badly?? My son was tired. Thats it. I didn't know because he hit his head and was bleeding and had a gash/cut if he could go to sleep or if they even wanted to let me let him go to sleep. I didn't know. So instead of saying 'Oh its fine! You can let him go to sleep! I was told we should never ever complain about things like that when there were actual sick people there. And then during the stitches he kept telling me how the people in the surrounding rooms were actually sick, he kept telling my son how I was soooo tired. Yeah, Wonderful doctor. I'm in Valley Springs and I think at this point, I will drove to either Lodi or Sac/Elk grove to other hospitals. I shouldn't have been made to feel like I did, I should have never been talked to like that and my 3 year old shouldn't of been told anything. I was not tired, my son was. This is by far the worst ER I have ever stepped foot in regarding doctors and their complete lack of care/concern. Too bad you can't rate zero stars. The ER is by far the worst I've ever seen. The doctor did not even touch my husband who was 1 week cardiac post-op. An IV was inserted into my husbands arm, he told the nurse the needle was bent, she refused to look at it. Luckily my husband was transferred to another hospital, and the nurse in the ER there was appalled by the bent needle. And just when you think it could not get any worse, you have to deal with the completely incompetent billing office on the other end of the state. Had a very bad reaction to some medication. Was admitted to ICU. Staff are excellent, concerned and compassionate.

Let me start off with how disappointed I am with this facility and how I was treated today on 12/16/17. My grandmother has been in the ICU here at this facility for nearing a week now, and this afternoon around 12:30PM I received a call that she was coding and that they were doing all that they could to save her. She passed away about 15 minutes later. I live an hour away from San Andreas because I moved for work reasons so I don't know if I was treated like garbage because I'm no longer a "local" and familiar face or whatever. Anyway, I rushed down to the hospital, asking them to please keep her there as I am an hour away and I really need to see her before they take her away. This is not an abnormal request, nor did they treat it as such. A relief. What was APPALLING, and HURTFUL was how I was treated by their rent a cop security guard. A young white gentleman who obviously has some serious ego issues and thinks it's okay to treat patient family's like garbage. I walk up to the window and he asks who I'm here to see. I informed him my grandmother in the ICU, she passed and I'm here to see her before they take her. For some reason feels the need to ESCORT me to the ICU and takes his sweet sweet time getting off his ass and out of the office. This is my first time going through this here, EVER. Keep in mind I have barely said anything to this asshole, I'm dressed nicely because I just left my office in Manteca, so I'm sitting here like why the hell is this guy escorting me? So I ask him, why am I being escorted this time but not all the other times I've been here to see her. His response? "Well I wasn't here then, was I." Let me just tell you, he's lucky assaulting someone is against the law. His attitude was not kind nor soft or even an inch of sympathy. You're in a hospital for god damn sake. Full of sick people, or sick and dying people. We all aren't here because we want to be. We would rather everyone be healthy and at home. Just because he couldn't make it into the real police force does not mean your shitty security guard can treat people like cattle and garbage. We get to the ICU, and he tells me to wait outside the door. I'm so confused and embarassed at this point, being treated like I've done something wrong when I've done absolutely nothing. This has never happened before but today would be the day this POS decides to be extra. He finally comes out and tells me I can come in. He then lingers and watches me until I go into her room. At that point he's not important to me. I'm with her. It's upsetting. You can imagine how torn up we are about this. Until guess what? You hear him talking about what just happened to the nurses and saying that I should pay attention to his badge that everyone gets escorted up here blah blah. And to top it all off, in a room full of what should be nurses who are dedicated and kind, talk about well if no one else dies, so and so can leave. Laughing. At that point I couldn't believe what I was hearing. Your ICU nursing staff is horrible. Their conversations can be heard through CLOTH CURTAINS. Maybe you should remind them of that. Maybe they should actually work instead of talking and making hurtful comments. I will never recommend this hospital to anyone, ever. This was a disgusting, uncomfortable experience on an already heart breaking experience for me and my family. I will say Keith in the ICU is the only great thing in that department. He was sincere and helpful in the best of his abilities. I really wish your entire department was full of people like him. Unfortunately it's full of garbage that have forgot why they are there in the very first place. Stay away from this hospital. Transfer out, it is worth it. I've been to many ICUs in the area due to being raised by my grandparents and their aging and health problems. Modesto, Stockton, Sacramento, Sonora. All of which did not feel the need to ESCORT me like a prisoner on visitation. I've never been so disrespected in the town I grew up in. Let me or my family catch that asshole outside of the hospital and in town in his little Punisher 4Runner. You won't be so disrespectful. You need to put your garbage employees through emotional training if you feel the need to hire feelingless assholes. Who help funds your paychecks? Oh that's right, patients.
