Our physical therapist, Steve O., was remarkable! On time to the minute on all 6 visits. He is extremely knowledgeable about hip surgery, and provided excellent, thorough, information and visual aids on recovering from it. To top it off, he is a great guy! Easy to talk to and ask questions of, with a great sense of humor. His last visit was today and we are going to miss him.

The nurses and PTs we have had (for hip and knee replacements) have mostly been very good - but…read morescheduling is a nightmare. The office staff is not at all helpful and they will not schedule visits until the night before. Once you have been assigned someone, you can communicate directly with them - but until then dealing with the office staff is just awful. For the knee replacement, they sent a PT to do both PT and nursing duties. This individual was not qualified for wound assessment/care, and removed the staples too soon resulting in the wound opening - and now we are facing another month of wound treatment. We have had three different "case managers" and the communication has been dreadful. Very disappointing - I would not recommend them.

Each time on every single call the staff was caring and professional and kind (-and they always answer the phone with a real person!). They were exactly what we had hoped for and then some. I'm a very active person, and I recently had to schedule hip-replacement surgery. Unfortunately,…read morethe doctor's surgery schedule was such that I had to wait 8 months for a surgery date. During that time, I went from limping to walking only with intense pain, resulting in my using a wheelchair to navigate any but the shortest walks (trips to the bathroom or kitchen). It became increasingly necessary to find help for daily activities like washing & folding laundry, emptying the dishwasher, bending down to feed the dog, taking out trash, etc. Giving in to the need, I called Home Instead, whom I'd used a number of years ago for help when my mother fell and broke her arm and several vertebrae. Home Instead was excellent then and were equally excellent in finding me two caregivers to assist before & after my hip replacement. Elaine was assigned to me pre-surgery and also assisted me following my surgery for a period of time until I was stable enough to be on my own again - about 6 months in all. Elaine seems to be a natural caregiver. She had such strong intuition that I often didn't have to say a word. For example, as I prepared to stand while seated in my wheelchair, she quietly positioned herself behind me to ensure I remembered to set the brakes and that I stood carefully. She would note when it was time for me to take medication and brought it to me with a glass of water. She was a quiet companion who blended into my lifestyle without intruding. It's difficult to imagine a better caregiver. Rita was an occasional caregiver for me during this time and was especially significant immediately following my surgery when I needed 24/7 care for a period following surgery, but she also filled in on the few times Elaine wasn't available. She's intuitive, companionable, and very skilled - a great caregiver and real pleasure to have in my home. She called on her experience to assist me, especially immediately following my surgery to assist me in moving my leg (into and out of bed, to and from potty breaks, etc.). She was skilled, friendly, and competent - a delight to be around. In short, I can't imagine a better home care provider than Home Instead. Looking at a few reviews that are posted from previous years, I wonder if they were even working with the same company I was.

During my search, I have realized that most of the agencies have dealt with difficult situations from their own pasts, which seems to create a certain familiarity.. I know it will be challenging trying to find the right agency, and finding the right caregiver that will want to help us out on the weekends.. Erika was very helpful, but also very upfront that because of the shortage of workers, it may take some time to find someone. I am glad I called.

I moved my mother inlaw to this place towards the end of her Alzheimer's because she was entering…read moreinto a stage of needing more care and they other larger facility she was in was not staying on top of her care as prescribed by Hospice. We actually tried to place my mother inlaw here first but it was full. Most of the time there is a waiting list I get in. I absolutely loved this place & their caring staff & the director (Wilma). My mother inlaw would comment on how nice it was. They are kind and patient and treat their residents with respect and dignity. My mother inlaw would comment on how nice it was. It feels more like home & family than a care home. It houses a small group of residents. Staff cooks them breakfast in the mornings, make their snacks and treats. A lot of home baking. Lunch and dinner come from The Villa (one of their care homes near by). Residents can participate in the crafts they do or watch. They have a couple of Canaries the residence enjoy. There is TV in the open living space with recliners for them to enjoy. Some rooms are small (perfect size for twin bed) others are a little bigger. There are private and shared rooms. They like to encourage residents to be out and socializing. They have a lovely patio outside. The facility is nestled in a nice quiet neighborhood. My mother inlaw passed away here and staff and hospice we very kind and compassionate to the very end. I can't express how thankful we were to find this place. I could sleep at night knowing she was being well cared for.
