i was excited to visit but was disappointed in my lunch experience. ordered the pimento fritters and they were great just a little cool. philly steak egg rolls also left me a bit disappointed, not hot and the cheese just congealed. grilled chicken tenders were unseasoned and the salad bar was depleted of many items. on a positive note, the chicken sandwich was said to be delicious! one final note, customers that arrived after 1:30 were refused seating although hours said until 2:00? my advice go early and stick with the chicken sandwich ‍ read more

Customer services is horrible I was in the restaurant on Monday for lunch and I understand being busy but rude is totally unacceptable!!! The owner Alice waited on me and not only did she put my change on the counter when my hand was right there waiting to receive it she also handed me my food with no bag and the box would not closed. I ask her could I get it in a bag she literally handed me the bag to bag it myself. She didn't converse with me but instead held another conservation as if I wasn't there. read more

This is an excellent local spot to make a stop at!! It's in a small little town in Mississippi that does not disappoint with traditional vision of the American Small town. This fine hometown restaurant has an excellent menu and an extremely friendly wait staff. I myself ordered their chicken sandwich, buffalo style, and it was extremely delicious!! The breading was just right and buffalo sauce was not over powering! The fries came seasoned with what appeared to be a very tasty truffle salt. Overall a great experience and I highly recommend taking the trip to visit this eatery. read more

Love this place! Great daily specials, and plate lunches. A little pricy, but worth it. Awesome food, nice atmosphere. I'm going to keep going! I took away a star, because in general, their waitstaff is awful! They close at 2:00, I understand. But if you show up after 1:00, the waitresses are trying to push you out the door. Then you have to hunt them down when you need something. They're usually just gossiping behind the bar. I've been twice this week, and it's happened both times. read more

Love that they restored an old store building! Cleanest restaurant I have ever seen! All the staff was very nice. I think they must have lost our order because people that came in quite awhile after us got their food when we did. We had cheeseburgers and French fries, nothing that should have taken 45 minutes to prepare. The FFs were very good. The meat of the cheeseburger had a little wang I didn't like, but it was an okay burger. I don't know what kind of bun it was on, it was a little odd too. Everyone seemed to really enjoy their food and it all looked good. I think they may have just had an off day on my food. read more

Nicest owner ever. Cute place. But I seem to have ordered the wrong thing. The soup of the day was beef vegetable, but it was all tomatoes, as in the canned stewed kind. And corn. And not much beef. Will give them a try again next time I'm in town. read more

My business partner and I arrived at noon, greeted with a smile. The place was packed so I expected to be there a while, not so. We sat back by the kitchen and it is obvious the kitchen manager knows what's going on. Our server was no slouch. We didn't need for anything. I had the special of the day, hamburger steak. It came with green beans, macaroni and cheese, and a roll. Everything was good but I wasn't a fan of the green beans. My business partner had the shrimp tacos. We are on our way to Tupelo and wanted something besides fast food. Market Cafe delivered! Fried cheese balls and jalapeño dipping sauce are a must! I had the grilled redfish-so good my 10 year old ate half and was fighting me for the rest! The vegetables on the side were seasoned perfectly! My husband had the onion and bacon jam burger with sweet potato fries, both were yummy! And finally the 10 year old had chicken tenders, fresh and hot- pretty sure they are breaded in house-no Sysco chicken strips here! The service was great! I ate here for lunch yesterday with a colleague we were both in town on business. My colleague had the daily blue plate lunch, hamburger steak mac and cheese and one other side. He said it was great. What a nice place! We drove over after hearing such wonderful things about the place. The service was great. I believe our server's name was Sam. Mom and I shared the fried pimento cheese balls for an app and they were really good. They came with a sweet/tangy dipping sauce that was delicious. I had the steak sandwich. It tasted a lot like a philly cheese steak and was really good. I also had the Cottage chips-they were cooked well but were a little bit salty for my taste. Mom had the Down South burger. It was really good with pimento cheese on it. For dessert we had a chocolate spoon cake-very good but would've been better warmed with ice cream on top! I hear dinner is really good as well. I may move to Louisville so I can eat here everyday. First of all got the salad bar to start out, they have so many options including corn salad (lord have mercy), chicken salad and other things that simply wouldn't fit on my plate. As an appetizer I decided to splurge and get the philly cheese egg rolls and the pimento cheese fritters, the egg rolls will make you wanna slap your mama and roll around on the floor. Now for the entree, a bacon Swiss burger made me totally forget that I had a guest with me and needed to entertain. I drive to and through Louisville a lot for work and have heard about this place. WOW! Great service, great people, great attitude, great menu, great coffee, great food! If you are in the Louisville area give them a try, you will be glad you did. Besides a great restaurant it's in a great location. Lots of different shops filled with nice people and unique "stuff". There was a separate room for large groups and white butcher paper covered the white tablecloths which provided a great distraction for the kids and adults in my group to decorate while waiting. The restaurant is in the old Blon Harris hardware store building, which has been nicely restored, with its original tin ceiling. Four of us went there for lunch. I had the Black-n-Blue Steak Salad, which was excellent. My wife had the plate lunch, which consisted of fried chicken, mashed potatoes, rolls, black-eyed peas and collard greens. She liked all of it, especially the rolls, except that the peas and greens were mysteriously sweet. My mom had the crab cake sandwich, which had too much bread for her taste, but she liked the crab cake. My dad had a raspberry chicken salad, which was a favorite of his, and which he enjoyed. All in all, a very good meal, and we definitely will be back the next time we visit Louisville. read more

Wonderful service, unique menu & the food was wonderful. Louisville was the designated lunchtime meeting spot for several of us from various Mississippi cities. Based on Yelp, my son suggested this cafe. The menu was intriguing, but considering the town's size I wasn't expecting much. We shared 3 starters, we each had different entrees & it was all so delightful we ordered 2 desserts! Everything we ate would rival some of Madison Ms's best go-to lunch spots. Have eaten at the Market Cafe several times for dinner. Steaks are okay not exceptional. The staff is friendly and attentive. The appetizers are some of the best, I love the fried pimento and cheese balls and the fried green tomatoes are good too. They have one of the better salad bars around this town. You can order beer but if you want wine etc bring your own bottle and the staff will provide your glass. Friends ordered the special for fish and found it liking in taste, it was red snapper and both agreed it did not taste like red snapper. So as I see for dinner ask lots of questions on the main course, so far the chicken dishes are good that I have ordered. But the steak and fish need help. read more

The food was great! Had the Ribeye and it was cooked perfect. The staff needs to cheer up as when they get busy they loose the southern charm. Very clean and wonderful restrooms. The fried Shrimp was the best we have ever had. read more

We had a pre-wedding dinner catered at the restaurant with about 50 guests. The location (the brick back room of the restaurant) was lovely and easy to decorate. Chef Johnny Wooten helped with the menu and the food was delicious and received many compliments from the guests. The service was wonderful. Highly recommend for special occasions! read more
